“Ok....needs a bit of work”
3 of 5 stars Reviewed October 29, 2012

Nice open plan reception, big pool plenty of loungers, beach man made and pea soup is probably clearer than the water!
Room is pretty standard comfy bed minute bath/shower....bath was so stained you wouldn't use it.....
Breakfast......ok, nothing tonwritebhome about but they do excellent coffee
Gym...not good, miles from 5 star, broken bike, no towels needs a good clean.....better running on beach (about 2k long)
If you get a good deal go for it, if you are used to Sofitels globally this one is a bit below what I've experienced globally.

Room Tip: Ask for top floor (3) so you don't hear people above you

Recently I was staying at the Sofitel on Denarau Island and had the opportunity to use your services. At the time we required additional equipment that wasn't readily available (two catamarans). One of your staff who I know as ‘`Tuks’ went out of his way to assist us and ensured that we had two working cats in time to meet our schedule. No only that but he assisted us in a bit of light hearted fun when he presented the Fiji Cup (two coconuts with flowers on top) as the prize for a race. The other staff were great but his actions and assistance stood out just that bit more.

Although this probably doesn't sound like much it made for an excellent day and his approach and enthusiasm and just going that little bit further really struck a chord with us. Well done for your staff selection and I hope this small thanks finds it’s way back to him.

The Hotel and staff were outstanding and as a first time user of Fijian Resorts it has certainly embedded a desire in me to return to this outstanding destination.

Steve Nicholas

Room Tip: We had a great package of accommodation and Breakfast. That gave us scope to try other eateries on...

We stayed here for two nights after the yasawa islands. Room was very comfortable and quiet. Staff were welcoming and friendly. Found the food to be quite expensive at all three restaurants for example the buffet breakfast is 45 dollars each and buffet dinner 80 dollars. Beach isnt very attractive so everyone goes to the pool. Lots of quiet areas to get away from the noise of the pool. Walked along the beach to the other resorts in the area to have a look as they are all next to each other. Overall we expected a lot more for the price we paid.

We had the privledge of staying here for three nights early October this year. We booked direct with the hotels website for a room with two queen beds. What a lovely resort. We checked in rather late and were upgraded to a suite complete with a verandah overlooking the ocean with an outdoor spa bath. Nothing was never too much trouble for the staff including bringing more coathangers, free bottled daily water. etc. Loved the nespresso machine. Did not bother with the bula bus as it was only 5 mins by taxi to the port for $5fjd. We did this often. Had a lovely meal at Amalfi at the port. Free entertainment there was terriffic. The local pizza joint the pizza was that big we couldn't fit it in the taxi. Back at the resort, on the last day we had a late flight to Brisbane and were given a late checkout of 12pm. After that we were allowed to use the pool etc. and towels. We sat on the lovely lounges in the resort atrium where there were books and newspapers to read etc. overlooking the pool and listened to the lovely fijian musicians singing. We were able to freshen up totally relaxed in the restrooms where there we complimentary pure fijian handwashes, refresher towels etc. and arrived at the airport ready to go and not tired at all. The best experience at this resort was the sunday morning church service both in fijian and english in the chapel in the grounds. It was lovely and an uplifting experience. The singing was amazing. The sunsets from this resort are magnificent. We loved the sofitel and will definitely be back. The staff were all very pleasant and nothing was ever too much trouble. For the ladies, if you have any down time I caught a taxi to the spa denarau at the port and had an amazing three hours. Very reasonable prices and sublime. The spa stocks all the new pure fiji products and I took a massive bag home for around half the price I could buy in australia. The three hours at the spa only came to around $145 au for a spa manicure and spa pedicure package, one hour hydrating facial and back massage. Awesome.

Recently for our honeymoon my fiancee and I stayed overnight at Sofitel Denarau before departing to another resort the next day by catamaran.

The staff were welcoming, and room was very well appointed with a comfy bed, large shower/bath, and everything you need for a comfortable stay.

I didn't get a chance to have a wander around the resort much, but the main bure is really nice, and the pool area well done. The prices for food seemed quite reasonable given this is a 5 star resort.

I was looking forward to dining at "V" (the signature restaurant), when my fiancee became violently ill and was unable to get out of bed. I must stress she hadn't eaten anything in Fiji, so it was quite strange. We suspect something she had in Sydney that caused it.

I contacted room service and as she was crook my fiancee didn't feel like much food. I asked if we could get food from V via room service and was advised that it was possible. So I ordered the steak, and then quizzed the room service people about food for my fiancee. They ended up supplying us with a selection of breads (which was all she felt like), the steak, and my desert.

The food was every bit as I expected. Delicious and well cooked, compliments to the chefs!

Staff were friendly upon dropping off and picking up the tray, and the porters welcoming and helpful.

Whilst chain resorts on Denarau is not my idea of a true Fijian holiday (I prefer the islands), Sofitel is built around traditional looking bures, and fits in really nicely with it's surroundings.

For someone wanting to stay at a chain resort or Denarau, I'd be very happy to recommend Sofitel Denarau to them.

We stayed here before heading out to an island and thought it was lovely. Our room was very comfortable, and being on the ground floor had a lovely view and easy access to the gardens. Upon check in we were told we had free kids club and 4 hours of babysitting included. We used a babysitter and she was lovely. She took the kids to the movie night for us while we went out to tea. We found the restaurant (Salt I think) to be great value for a resort restaurant and ate here both nights, also happy hour was great value. It was much better quality and value than Raddison. You could always find a quiet spot here, for example the top bar had lovely seating and a band playing and only a few people, whereas the Radisson was crowded everywhere we went without all the lovely touches you find at Sofitel. It is also closer to Port Denarau which we found handy. We loved the pool here and the kids liked the water slide. Breakfast was a bit of a zoo the first morning as it was so busy, but we got up earlier the second morning and had a seat outdoors and it was lovely. Would definately stay again here.
