“Ask how much they paid at the Sheraton next door?”
4 of 5 stars Reviewed November 26, 2008

The WorldMark Resort is located on an artificial island whose one purpose is to be the Pacific paradise that popular culture imagines the Pacific to be.

The WorldMark beach faces a south-westerly direction & is a shallow beach due to land reclaimation. Pippies & clams can be picked up off the beach & fish & crab are easy to catch. The beach itself is not spectacular as one would expect of a Pacific island & the sand is not soft & fine but grainy & dull in colour.

The resort shares its private beach with the Sheraton Nadi Resort next door & all of the Sheraton's restuarant's & shopping mall are all accessable via the beach, free shuttle bus or pathway at the front.

A great feature that separates the WorldMark resort from other resorts is its usage of self-serviced apartments. The apartments are town-house in style & size. My apartment had a fully functioning kitchen, dishwasher, washing machine, dryer, living room, 51 cm tv, small stereo, dvd player & 2 bathrooms. The main bedroom has a walk-in bathroom with spa-bath. I stayed via timeshare with family.

The resort's free facilities include a small gym, clubhouse, convention building, ocean-view spa baths, huge swimmin pool, catamaran, kayaks, bikes & golf course.

The convieniance stores & main tourist supermarkets on Denaru Island & Nadi stock many well-known Australian brand foods, snacks & even Batlow Apples are available.

On the down-side, the souviener store was quite expensive for budget travellers & didnt seem authentic but manufactured as were the organised tour service that were on-site. The drinks at the swim-up bar & pool-side bar are as expensive as city bars in Sydney as was the food at the resturant. Denaru Island is an area of Fiji that is fenced off from local Fijians, meaning locals are not free to mix with tourists. All money-making schemes & businesses seem to be resort-controlled. Taxi's to & fro Nadi are a little expensive.

The staff are extremely friendly & accomidating. Without fail, you will be greeted with a smile & 'Bula' even if running by. The staff that i encountered all had some form of formal hospitality training for industry standards but they are not paid very well in regards to the prices you pay for everything else. It seems the large chunk of profits go straight to the corporations & not to the local economy which is ironic as there is huge emphasis on buying certain crafts & goods to support poor villages.

Overall, the WorldMark Denarau Island Resort is a great place that is family friendly & relatively safe from danger. The resort's facilities are free so they get my tick & window shopping is great next door at the Sheraton complex, if only the prices didnt represent a king's ransome.

5 of 5 stars Reviewed October 23, 2008

This was our first time to Fiji. Our party consisted of me and my wife, 5 year old son and a family friend. We booked a 2 bedroom garden view room that was able to sleep 6 people.
There was a double bed in the main bedroom, 2 single beds in the 2nd room and a fold out double bed that could be pulled out to the living room. The room was fresh with a great layout and all the necessary amenities. The main bedroom had an en-suite with a toilet and shower and the unit had a main bathroom with another toilet, bath/shower combined.
The room was very comfortable with 3 air conditioners throughout. The kitchen had all utensils and pots and pans required if you wanted to cook in the room. A microwave, oven, grill and hotplates were all present. We had 2 televisions (one in the master bedroom) and 1 DVD player in the lounge room.
We were on the first floor and had a balcony with a table and 6 chairs. The resort has all necessary requirements including a HUGE swimming pool with a swim up bar and kid's pool, spa, restaurant, massage's by the pool, water sports hut with scuba diving, rental scooters, fruit and veggie hut, tour desk. BBQ's and a small convenience shop. The weather at this time of year was comfortable and pleasant.
Denaru Island is the up and coming area of Nadi with a lot of overseas investment. The main marina is on the island and this is where all the island hopping tour's and day trip's leave from. Getting around on the island is easy as there is a free shuttle bus service called the 'bula bus' that goes around for 16 hours a day seven days a week. We arrived on a Tuesday and got settled in. The local's run on local "Fiji Time" and it is a much laid back lifestyle. In the resort they run daily activities such as fish feeding in the mornings off the beach, bingo at the pool bar at midday and a touch lighting ceremony at dusk.
On Wednesday the resort ran a free bus service into town for those looking to do some shopping for food and souvenirs. The bus also stopped at Macdonald's (yes there is one over there) and the local butcher. We were eating in most nights and this was a great trip to do and for those who need mixers for your duty free alcohol make sure that you top up in town as the resort shops on the island and marina is rather expensive.
We had planned 2 island trips before we went and left a day in between each trip (highly desirable). These trips took us to hideaway and south sea island. They were most enjoyable and a great addition to our holiday. On the island we were able to snorkel, have free use of non-motorised watercraft and both food and drinks were provided all day. The islands do offer introduction scuba dives on the island's and the price was around $120.00fj. The island trips took up the whole day however was most enjoyable.
The only other outing that we undertook was to go to a local garden/rainforest walk and also visit a local Fijian village. This was arranged by the front desk staff. At the Fijian village, the local's have stall's to buy jewellery and timber artefacts. It is encouraged to provide a tip or buy something to support the village.
We found the trip to be fantastic and the resort staff was the friendliest by far of any other resort on the island.
We will be looking to go back every year without fail.

Me and my boyfriend stayed 5 nights here at the Worldmark Resort and it was just great. The resort was more than what I expected it to be and the self contained apartments are just the best. I reccommend or suggest you do some grocery shopping at the supermarkets in nadi as cooking your own food will save you a lot of money by doing this. The pool was also huge and great to swim in, really does make up for the yukky man made beach which we didnt even go on and just had a look from afar. Other than that this was our first stay in fiji and it really was just a relaxing mini break which we were really after. The Fijian people are just the friendliest people you'll come across in your life as they always have a smile on their face. Thank you to all the staff for making it a wonderful and comfortable stay for us.
Vinaka!! and we will be back in the future!!

Stayed 7 nights at the Worldmark Fiji in May 08.

4 adults and 1 child in a 2 bedroom apartment, you could easily fit another 2 adults or children in the room although I think that the maximum is 6 persons.

The resort itself if laid out well with plenty of rooms, a kids playground is a new addition since our last visit and the pool is still huge with plenty of room for heaps of people. It is the biggest pool that I have seen.

The resort has one of the best restaurants on Denarau island and isn't over the top in price. The have the best lovo night with the quality of food on this night just brilliant. Anyone that is unsure about eating lovo etc should try to lovo at the Worldmark it has a huge variety and the quality is to die for.

The rooms are good and spacious, huge actually and full kitchen facilities are great, ensuite bathroom and bath in the other room.

The bula bus that goes around Denarau is great although the resorts are obviously getting busier as they buses were quite often full, free of charge bus that runs past all the resorts along Denarau every 15 minutes or so.

There is a shopping centre at the marina now with a supermarket, chemist, lolly shop, Jacks hanidware, 4 to 5 restaurants and a few clothes shops, this newer addition added to the variety of food options available to holiday makers on Denarau. the hard rock cafe is a good option with good food and a great atmosphere.

You can use the facilities at the other resorts although whilst we were there the sofitel didn't want us using their pool.

Denarau is a nice place with plenty of eating options, plenty to do however the ocean is really very swimmable. You can have a good holiday here but don't expect it to be like some other parts of Fiji.

We stayed at Worldmark Denarau in Fiji in May 2007. Our accommodation was a two bedroom fully self contained unit. It was absolutely fantastic. The Fijian people are the friendliest l have ever met and they cannot do enough for you. The unit we stayed in was glorious, dishwasher, washing machine, clothes dryer and all the appliances you would have at home. Catch the local bus into Nadi and go to the fresh fruit market or fish market. Everything is quite cheap and very fresh. You can cook in your unit or use the bbq, or get the chef to come to your unit and cook up a feast. Overall you are in paradise so enjoy yourself. The pool is awesome, it is huge, the swim up bar is a must at happy hour, the cocktails are to die for.
This is our 4th time to Fiji, ( we were married in Fiji) and we are going back in July 2008. We cannot wait.

Had great time at this resort. Timeshare based, but with some units available to 'tempt' others to join. We had 6 nights in a three bedroom apartment for around $1100 NZ$, which is darn cheap. You do have to attend a 90min timeshare presentation, but it's not hard sell, and actually quite interesting.

Apartments were very spacious, pretty clean, aircon in all rooms which worked very well.

We travelled with two kids, 5 and 2, and they loved it. Great pool, fun chasing frogs in the evenings, getting coconuts opened. Kids club is free, but sometimes bit dull - ie colouring.

Overall would thoroughly recommend for cheap hol - we travelled with four other groups for a family celebration, and had fab time.

We arrived back from Worldmark Denarau Island just two days ago and our experience was so good I wanted to let everyone know about it as soon as possible. We stayed in a 3 bedroom with another couple for 2 weeks and another couple joined us for the last week. The apartments were very spacious and have everything you require and are surrounded by beautiful landscaping and views. The pool is enormous and because of this and the self contained apartments for your own private space it feels like there are not many people around even though the resort is full. The restaurant quisine was superb and the service was outstanding with most of the staff knowing all our names by the third day!! Same for the swim up bar!! Reception staff were also fantastic with nothing being a problem. Our stay was 17 days and we decided to alternate outing days with rest days and always had something interesting to do and tried game fishing, dinner cruises, lots of different restaurants, The Sleeping Giant orchid garden, mud baths, hand fishing, local history tour, snorkelling inbetween lots of books and tanning by the pool. One tour in particular I would like to recommend was the Mala Mala Island
tour which takes you to an uninhabited island for the day. We did the early bird tour with breakfast, morning and afternoon tea and lunch with all soft drinks provided. The staff were totally dedicated
to ensuring we had the best day possible. We did hand fishing, snorkelling, drinkies, walks, lunch (sensational BBQ), singalongs, drinkies, more snorkelling, drinkies and then finished off with volley ball (which I have never played before!) more drinkies, singalongs, afternoon tea more drinkies then a singalong on the way home on the boat. I took a book to have a relaxing day underneath a palm tree - how mistaken I was!!

Before we arrived at Worldmark I had organised a birthday cake for my friend to be delivered and the staff were just as excited to deliver it as we were to receive it. It was so delicious our friends ordered a second cake for our anniversary the following week! Damien the resort manager was always doing the rounds ensuring everyone was having a great time and the different daily activities around the resort itself were great because we met so many lovely new friends.

We were having such a great time we decided to extend our stay but all phone lines were down with no way of organising it but to our delight one of the staff at Rosies travel in the foyer not only sent a text to her friend at the airport who went to the Qantas desk and changed our flights for us but then on her way home picked up our replacement tickets and then brought them back with her the next day.

If you could bottle the Fijian "BULA" attitude and spirit you would be a millionaire overnight and we would also have world peace!! This has been one of the best holidays we have had and it was because of the service and happy smiling faces we met every moment of each day. Vinaka!!
