We stayed in a 3 bedroom ground floor apartment from 19th to 28th June here. The apartment position was lovely and peaceful looking out along a lawn fringed with palms - the property next to this was unused wasteland, so very quiet and tranquil although probably a little less sun than the other apartments it is so hot you don't miss it. The rooms are very clean, not a bug in sight, and the kitchen is well equipped with even a blender for those all important cocktails. I would say that some more plastic dishes wouldnt go amiss - if you take food to the pool area they are strict about no glass. We found that the resort was quite happy for us to take our sandwiches and drinks to eat at the tables around the pool area which was great. We travelled with our 2 boys 9 and 11 and grandma so to feed everyone at the resort restaurants would have been expensive. They have an excellent general store with everything you need, and the prices are great too. Dont shop at the Port. Its expensive and not well stocked. The only thing we noticed with being on a ground floor apartment was as someone else commented - there is a problem with hearing water running from upstairs - they had a plastic pipe running down through our apartment in the laundry cupboard! ..... and yes definately agree the scraping of furniture early is really annoying.
There was construction going on, but the worst part was waterblasting right next to us all day at the pool on some of the days we were there and we chose to vacate the resort on those days in the end as it was so annoying and terribly noisy! The pool is well set out with heaps of tables, umbrellas and loungers. Never a problem to get 5 loungers and a table, which would have been impossible at all the other resorts. I would never stay at any of the other resorts. They were packed full of small children and babies and baby buggies stacked up everywhere. No loungers anywhere free, and kids screaming around everywhere. Shocking. The food and drink prices were very high - $21 for a glass of Oyster Bay chardonnay at the Sofitel in a plastic glass! Although the dinner there was lovely and worth a visit. Worldmark have a great Mexican restaurant newly opened. Very nice decor, and prices, and the food is high quality. They also do kids meals, pizzas etc so if you don't like Mexican don't worry! The resort is well set out, lovely landscaping, friendly staff and kids club, and the people who stay there are great. Laid back, thrifty types of travellers who are happy to cook on the communal barbeques and chat. They are usually there for a few weeks. We did get a couple of calls about attending the timeshare seminar but felt absolutely no pressure, and they dropped in a lovely gift pack too. Highly recommend this resort, and hope to go back one day. If you want to shop for food take the $1 yellow buses that stop outside the resorts on the road every 15 minutes. The supermarket and open fresh food markets in Nadi are wonderful - so much fresh fruit and veges at rock bottom prices! Just ask for help if you want to know how to get to them, and if youve finished your shop at RJ Patel supermarket they will get you into a $10 taxi and ask the driver to take you to the butcher which is on the way home. They have excellent meat and chicken just like home. Cardos restaurant at the Port is excellent value for money - especially lunches for $10 fiji and their $10 cocktails are great too. Wonderful service, and quick too. HIghly recommend.
If you have children try to get a ground floor room, although there are only 2 levels, its great for...
