“Nice clean resort”
4 of 5 stars Reviewed July 22, 2014

This was a good start to our Fiji holiday. After driving from the airport I wasn't expecting too much. But pulling in at the Westin was a great surprise. Nice palm trees everywhere, right on the beach. Not really a great beach for swimming but it creates a nice setting. The people were really welcoming and friendly. It's worth the trip into the marina for the meals though as the prices at the restaurant are quite extravagant, even though they are in Fiji $$. All in all a good stopover on the way to the next destination.

My favourite holiday, loved staying here with my hubby for a week it was so relaxing such friendly staff. Great activities and outdoor pools, easy to access tours which pick you up from the resort. Great restaurants, very comfortable beds. Plan to bring the children next time.

Lovely hotel set on beautiful grounds with friendly staff.
Can't fault the room (directly facing the water). Nicely appointed room with good amenities. The staff were always friendly and helpful.
However I do not think it really showcases what Fiji is all about- everything is very much a created sort of paradise. We went in there fully expecting this and it is what we got.
I'm pretty sure the soft white sand that is beautifully raked every morning has also been transported from elsewhere.
Of all the hotels in the area, the Westin was definitely the best of them all, it has retained some class while the other hotels, from general observation, has become somewhat "cheapened" and taken on a very Kuta-esque feel unfortunately. This place also seemed to have a fewer number of children, which was important for us, while the other hotel pools definitely had them in droves- something else to keep in mind.
Food was pricey, but generally quite good.

Room Tip: Ask for a room that is away from the main hotel/eating area. Everytime we walked past there were the...

I give this 4 stars but I didn't eat at any of the restaurants so I cant speak on their quality and timeliness like a lot of the other reviews have done.

We did take advantage of happy hour and pool side service for drinks and snacks and they were top notch and quick.

The resort itself is amazing. The landscaping is groomed, the public areas are exceptionally clean and the ambience in the evenings is spectacular.

The pool are is beautiful however the water is fairly cold so be prepared for a breathtaking jump into the water. The area gets crowded by 1100 so if you dont get there early you may have to find seating which bakes in the sun.

The room was clean and spacious for 2 adults and 2 kids under 8. We had an ocean view room and if we stood on our patio at a certain angle we could see the ocean. It was very clean and housekeeping kept it that way for our 5 day stay.

Dining: its quite expensive eating at the resorts so we just took a quick 15 minute walk (one way) to the Marina and ate dinner there. Great food options available at a lower price than the resort.

I'd recommend this place if you're willing to spend the money for lodging.

The Kitchen failed to deliver. The service from our waitress was ok. She really wanted to please however the rest of our dining experience at The Kitchen was terrible! The bubbles I chose to order by the glass was out of stock, the lamb I ordered for $79 FJD was tiny, very over cooked and greasy with very fried tasteless polenta. My husband ordered the four course set menu. The main was beef rib which was terribly greasy and a very poor excuse for beef rib. The set menu came with a glass of wine which was delivered very late. The main was near on returned before the wine was delivered. When we expressed our dislike, we were offered another main meal by the manager which we declined! Who would want to eat another terrible meal. We were then offered a free dessert to take away. Again we declined. Finally they offered 15% off the two main meals. Not the total bill! Not at all acceptable when to total bill was $396! Again I expressed my disappointment and the manager Finally agreed, after much discussion, to 20% off the total which was better than nothing! The manager really didn't understand that what we had received for the money spent was well below par! Best avoid The Kitchen, poor food, extremely expensive (you are paying fine dining prices for very poor food) an overall terrible dining experience for the money spent!!!

Thank you for your feedback on our thekitchen@Westin restaurant. My apologies if you felt your dinning experience was below your expectations as I am somewhat surprised with your feedback which I personally investigated.
Upon investigation, I understand that none of the issues highlighted were mentioned during table visits by our team members during the course of the dinner. The issues were mentioned at the end of the meal the restaurant manager did her best to ensure you left our restaurant happy by offering you options. F$396 or approx. A$220 for dinner for family of 4 is very comparable to similar establishments in Australia with added bonus of beach front dinning.
Chef Michael and his kitchen team receive very positive feedback on their culinary offerings and we do apologise that these were below your expectations.

I had not stayed at the Westin for many years , not since it was the Regent , and I doubt that I will be staying again. Although the exteriors and pool area are still very pleasant the interiors of the rooms and eating areas are very tired and shabby in some areas . We had paid extra for an oceanfront room and it was very well located for the pool and the sunsets . Although the bedroom was fine, the bathroom was very scruffy and the shower floor was all leveled wrong and flooded each time we had a shower meaning we had to use every towel to mop it all up. Although I didn't bother complaining to reception as we were only staying 2 nights I mentioned to the cleaning lady and she said she has told management many times of the problem. The worse thing we encountered was dinner the first night in "The Kitchen " . They were very busy , though not full , with large groups and were obviously unable to cope as it took an hour for our meal to arrive and judging by the looks on other diners faces they were having the same experience . The food was grossly overpriced , NZ$50 plus for a piece of sirloin steak - the cheapest red meat on the menu - which was tough and very average. The lovely young restaurant manager was trying her best to make everything work but it was a tough night. Only bottled water, ie you pay for it , was offered though when she realized we still didn't have our meal after an hour she did bring around a jug of water. I advise you eat at Denarau Marina , better food , better price. However I will say that the breakfast buffet was very nice and the ambiance seemed better in this restaurant.
The pools were very cold and we noted that non motorized water sports were no longer complimentary unlike most Fiji Resorts.
The staff we encountered were all pleasant and helpful , just seems like the management are wanting to make as much money as possible from us during our stay.

Room Tip: Make sure you get a room from which to enjoy the sunsets.

Thank you for your feedback. My apologies that we failed to meet your expectations, although it would have been great to have been able to discuss these issues whilst you were still with us. Our rooms and bathrooms have recently been refurbished and it seems odd that the run of the water is wrong - however we will raise this with the contractors.
Our food & beverage is very competitively priced to other resorts on Denarau and those in Australia and New Zealand. As all of our meat is imported we are at the mercy of the exchange rates and freights costs to ensure we deliver the best product and value for money. Being in the tropics and enjoying great weather, we have never had the guests requests the pool to be heated - perhaps something to look at due to mother nature.
We are delighted you enjoyed the warmth and friendliness of our staff.

A friend and I stayed at the Westin after purchasing a mystery deal accommodation for the port denaru area. We had a beachfront room and full champagne breakfast for AU$100pp. We indulged in the Spa - which was phenomenal, i fully recommend the 2hr hot stone exfoliation and massage. Rooms were clean, hotel program was full and engaging: we won free cocktails for winning the quiz held at sunset. Gorgeous, beautiful, luxury.

Room Tip: Oceanfront is a must
