We just returned from a 4 night stay at Las Casitas. After reading many of the reviews on this website, I didn't set my expectations very high.

However, we were thrilled with our stay at the property!! The staff was very friendly and out going, and the property and room were beautifully maintained. We had booked a guestroom but were upgraded to a one bedroom villa with ocean views. For a $25 fee our butler did grocery and beverage shopping for us (much cheaper than a cab or renting a car). We had plans to venture off the resort, but we loved it so much we didn't budge.

Palomino Island was beautiful, as was the infinity pool. We are early risers, so there were always plenty of sun chairs for us. The restaurants at the main hotel were good- notably the chinese and steak places. I do agree that the food and drinks were expensive- averaging $40-$50 for two for lunch and well over $100 for two at dinner. But hey, you're on vacation, right???

The facilities at the Golden Door Spa were excellent, including a well equipped fitness center. We also had one of the best massage treatments there as well.

As we were leaving, we were already discussing our next visit to Las Casitas.

Spent 5 nights at Las Casitas in a new, ocean view one bedroom casita. We had a lovely time. Plusses are an amazing view, nice new big suite (bigger than our Manhattan two bedroom), amazing private beach/island, and Golden Door Spa is really, really nice. Minuses are that the food is average and terribly expensive (though the sushi is new york good and steak house is getting there) and the service across the resort is a little clueless (but not hostile), except services is great at spa and steak house. The butler thing is an unfulfilled promise, we met a butler on the first day, who was also our bell hop, but it appears in truth to be a pay service if you want any butlering, doesn't come included in the casita rate.

Here's a solution to the expensive restaurants: rent a car and go off campus. Casitas charges a very high $65 per person to and from the airport. Instead of a couple paying that $260, rent a car for less than that and go out to dinner each night (and go to a nearby grocery and get some breakfast stuff). You'll save and there are some great-to-amazing restaurants in the area that the casitas staff can recommend for you.

We were pretty concerned for our vaco considering the reviews we read here, but we set our expectations to average and were pleasantly surprised. That said, we cannot speak to older casitas or the El Conquistador hotel rooms.

Nothing luxurious about Las Casitas in Puerto Rico

Quite shocking but las Casitas practices false advertising. They say on their website that continental breakfast is included with a Casita but they mean it's available but not free. If you're looking for bed bugs (add a $50 cab ride to the nearest pharmacy for medication), loud air conditioning units housed right in the middle of your Casita (so that you feel like you're in an airplane), bad service (we had to carry our own luggage), lousy, overpriced spa treatments (frankly I wouldn't even call it a massage), and lets not forget the unhelpful and uninformed staff, then Las Casitas is the place for you. And don't plan on getting up from your pool lounge, because it will be given to someone else as soon as your back is turned. There was absolutely nothing luxurious about our stay at Las Casitas except for the price. Save your money and go to a Holiday Inn.

  • Liked — I liked having a kitchen but it wouold have been nice if the cleaning staff washed the dishes rather than loading them in the dishwasher leaving us with only dirty dishes.
  • Disliked — Thge air conditioning unit was housed in a closet right in the kitchen. It was so noisy you felt as if you were on an airplane. Eventually we just turned if off and suffered in the heat.
  • Tips/Secrets: — Save your money and go somewhere else.

Our trip to Las Casitas Village was from November 20th to November 27th. The eight days were GLORIOUS!!! Las Casitas is located on one of the MOST beautiful properties in Puerto Rico. The views are great and the archtecture of the casitas always amaze me (this was our third visit)

The casitas are large and well fitted. There is bedroom, livingroom, dining room and fully equipped kitchen. Bathroom is ample, with separate toilet area which is extremely useful and private when necessary.

The INFINITY pool at Las Casitas forces you to truly relax and enjoy. The service at the pool area, concierge and throughout the casitas is great!!! You can tell I highly recommend Las Casitas.

One minor voice of opinion: Bring back an on premise restaurant at Las Casitas for gourmet dining, as previously was.

The property was absolutely beautiful. The views from our little casita were breathtaking. Our room had a small kitchenette, a walk-in closet, a LARGE balcony and a really nice bathroom.
The infinity pool had an amazing view. At night, there was a quiet hush that would drive you insane if peace isn't what you are looking for!
The condos were well-kept, very clean. Decor seemed to be a bit outdated but no real big issue. Check-in was smooth save for the fact that they had no kings available (grown-ups should NEVER share a double for the price paid).
The restaurants on the property left a WHOLE lot to be desired! There was not much of a selection and my husband & I considered just going to the Church's Fried chicken down the street.
The hotel was so far from San Juan, that it felt like a chore trying to do anything exciting or touristy. The "butler" service that we were promised really wasn't all that it was cracked up to be. My husband called for a daquiri by the pool, it took 30 + minutes and cost $16!!!

  • Liked — The views!!!
  • Disliked — Distance from the city
  • Tips/Secrets: — Watch the hotel charges! The hotel's 'system' will bill & bill & bill your credit card!
