“Beautiful Oasis Amid an Enormous Resort”
4 of 5 stars Reviewed October 22, 2013

Las Casitas is set apart from the main hotel El Conquistador and this is great -- you feel like you are truly in a very private, exclusive resort -- this is wonderful in that Las Casitas guests have exclusive access to the infinite pool -- probably the highlight of our vacation! But be sure to book on the North Side. Even with this, be prepared for LOTS of stairs and LOTS of walking -- if this is not your cup of tea, choose a different resort.

Pros:
* Infinite pool -- open 24 hours -- not huge, but breathtaking views
* Pools at main hotel rarely crowded and also beautiful
* Resort is very clean, beautiful views from I think every ocean front villa
* lots of other pools too -- you will never run out of places to swim!
* Ana is very sweet and should you be lucky enough to meet her, she will be sure to solve, whatever problem you have

Cons
* The "butler" service when it's available is great -- we just never knew who our butler was -- seems they were constantly rotating -- I understand people can't work 24/7 but for the price -- tell your guests, who is on when
* No wait staff walking around pool areas at main hotel -- had to go to bar to get drinks
* the private island -- took a good 25 minutes of walking across the main hotel, down the funicular (tram-like hot/crowded gondola), across a ferry -- only to arrive at an island which, yes is beautiful, but rocky and to get to deep water, you need to swim out, what feels like 1/2 mile
* no menus in the rooms -- for $650 a night -- provide menus and the consistent service which you said you were going to to pick up dinner for Casita guests paying a premium to stay in these rooms
* only one hot tub in the entire resort was functioning the entire time we stayed - :(

We had a wonderful time at Las Casitas but would choose a different resort next time because while it was beautiful we like to be closer to the beach, would like more consistent service for $650 per night (for a one bedroom ocean view) and believe you can find more value for your money at another property

Room Tip: Request a room on the North Side to be closer to main resort. Less walking!

If you had never been in Puerto Rico, I highly recommend at least try to stay at the El conquistador or Las Casitas for one night to experience the hospitality and the luxury of the island. I have been to Puerto Rico many times, stayed at Hilton Caribe, Marriott, Melia..I have to say that the El Conquistador is on the top. The people there are well trained, helpful, attentive, and prompt. From the transportation, to the maintenance guy, the butler, the waiter, the maids..all are professionally trained to be at your services. I stay at Las casitas, Lilianne, at the welcome desk, made me felt special. All requests are met with no exception. Ivan Gines, the manager of Palomino island is exceptionally helpful, guided us to find a good place under the shade, assigned a waiter to atttend to us, his name is Pedro who is quick and attentive. We are so impressed that we are planning our next trip now. thank you for making our stay a memorable one.

First of all I would like to thank Ana Colon. She helped make the trip perfect. After some frustration trying to find some help in traveling with a one year old (crib, highchair, ect) I decided to steal a email off a response in trip advisor when it seemed I could not get assistance from calling or emailing from the website. I'm glad I did. Ana helped ensure I had all I needed for my daughter. The room was amazing. View from the balcony breath taking. We stayed in a one bedroom ocean view. Be prepared to walk a lot.. It's a big resort. Something for everyone though. Can't wait to go back!

We stayed at Las Casitas in Fajardo for six nights after staying in Isla Verde for the first night. First off the reservation was botched and fixed. Secondly the several problems were reported some remedied, some not. They all added up to a huge inconvenience, the biggest being no reliable internet and a leaking fridge and cracked master bathroom tub. Would not return nor recommend.

Las Casita is a Luxury Villas. Definitely the best place to stay in on the east of Puerto Rico. I enjoyed a Guest Room Villa pretty big room with frig, kitch walking closet balcony and a large terrace and were satisfied with the quality of the rooms. Las Casitas guests can use all of the resort facilities of El Conquistador as well as several other pools exclusive for Las Casitas guests. Palamino Island is a nice venture private island every 30 minute ferry take you there from the main hotel El Conquistador. For those in Las Casitas you can grocery shop in Fajardo as well as dine at a few medium quality establishments out in town. Rental car is cheap and highly recommended!

This is an extremely tired property. In need of some urgent renovations. Everything seems like its crumbling down. Elevators and Escalators not working. Lack of mini bar and in room safe. Quality of restaurants very very poor. Hotel grounds between Las Casitas and El Conquistador lack sufficient illumination. Roads inside resort need to be re-paved. Furniture in rooms is outdated and extremely run-down with broken cushions, drawers etc. Rust marks all over dated bathroom with no shower (outdated bathtub). In room dining menu not appetizing at all, thus never used. In Palomino for example, at Iguanas they would give you the most disgusting (dirty, broken) check presenters I have ever seen! Dont you know you can get them free by calling Amex Merchant Services? The bars I visited around the property are NASTY! They are not cleaned well, many with old equipment that need urgent replacement. This property doesn't deserve to be named Waldorf Astoria, I think it hurts the brand by having this run-down property in your portfolio.

Dear Kristian T,

Please believe that it is never our intention for any guest to experience a less than excellent stay with us. We left you several voice-mails as well as emails to discuss your visit and make amends, however we have not heard back from you.

We regret your impression regarding the resort and do hope you will reconsider and return, so we may have the opportunity to reverse your initial impression. We all look forward to treat you and your family to the uncompromising service that our discerning guests have grown accustomed to.

Thank you for the gift of feedback,
