“Gorgeous resort, amazing room, great island & waterpark!”
4 of 5 stars Reviewed February 20, 2011

We went for business and leisure and had a 2.5 yr old and 9 month old. They put us in the Las Casitas Village...AMAZING!!! It was a condo like room. Full size granite/stainless steel fully loaded kitchen, spacious living room and dining area, double french door balcony, a nice spacious bathroom and a nice room in the back with double beds. Looks like there should have been room for a washer dryer but ours was missing, our friends had one, which would have been nice. We had the upstairs, it was amazing view of the ocean but we had a double stroller that was a pain to carry up and down every day. The resort is HUGE...be ready to WALK A LOT!!! Lots of nice pools, the waterpark was amazing for little kids and fun for adults as well. We didnt have to pay for it bc of our company but $14.95 a day could have been a little annoying, not sure why it's not just included like other resorts. The private boat ride is short and fun over the the AMAZING island. The water and beach is breathtaking. Nice huts for shade. If you were into exploring or adventure (i wasn't with 2 babies) it looked to have a lot to do.

Staff was very friendly and helpful. Beds were slightly comfy, not the best but not uncomfortable. My only compliant would have been the awful food! It was a common agreement among all of our friends that the food just wasn't good here and it was expensive. They had a market grocery store in the lobby since u have a full size kitchen but it was very pricey! Room service cost us $50 for 2 chicken tender meals and 2 cans of pop, still weren't very good. Even eating with our company (which is always amazing) the food was just ok, so don't come expecting gourmet dining.

Overall, a wonderful vacation, I will go again!

This a place far removed from San Juan Urbana... about 45 minutes out of the airport, and worth the drive (rent a car!). From the drive in through security gates and lush, landscaped golf course, you knew you were embarking on a special adventure. The security guard offered us options for parking- it was only an extra five bucks for the valet. We were treated like royalty at the curb, at the front desk, every where we went at the resort. Got coupons for a free rum drink from any resort bar when we checked in. Room was upgraded (even tho we got an awesome discounted price on line) from a garden view to a delightful view of the pool, ocean, and private island! There was a maintenance guy painting the room when we walked in... shows the property is well cared for.

I only wish we had more than a day here! We barely got to see the grounds. The funicular and trip to the private marina was a treat in itself... and then you got on a ferry out to the private island for more relaxation. The island was very quiet, some gift shops and minimal assortment of dining choices. Dozens of loungechairs, gorgeous sugary white sand beaches, aquamarine Caribbean waters to play in.

You could get lost in the resort hotel itself- lots of shops, restaurants, visual entertainment. The pool was amazing... many levels, waterfalls, swim up bar. Easy to relax there. Sure, the food was expensive. We saved a few bucks by choosing Starbucks for breakfast. We took the cinnamon rolls and coffee out past the pool, and enjoyed a very private veranda for less than $10! Fajardo wasn't that far away for local cuisine.

There is a gigantic waterpark ($20 fee per day). We didn't have the time, or we would have spent a day there.

One of the most memorable excursions of our lives was had right there out of the Fajardo Marina! Vieques Island/Mosquito Bay is right off shore. It's home to one of the biggest bioluminescent bays in the world (think underwater fireflies!), and the only one in Puerto Rico that will allow you to swim in it! You can take a short boat ride out, including drinks dinner and an amazing bay tour in the dark for about $120.

We look forward to going back someday, and for definitely several days!

My husband and I stayed here for a business conference. The ride from the airport takes about an hour. The check in/check out staff was friendly and the process efficient. We were told in advance email that we would have a garden view room, but ended up in a suite with sitting area, spa tub, walk in shower, walk out balcony, CD and DVD player, nice stereo and full ocean view. Very nice room. It was recently updated, and the furniture and bed looked brand new. Had a bit of trouble getting the TV in the bedroom to work, but my husband figured it out. Radio had Ipod dock but we couldnt figure out how to reset the clock (it was at the wrong time )so we just unplugged it.
The staff was so friendly and helpful. Everyone said hello or good morning, and there were so many around in case you needed assistance finding something Housekeeping came everyday and did a great job. We only ran into one staff member that didnt speak English well enough to help us with our questions and she brought someone else over to help us right away. Special thanks to Marisol at check in and Guillermo at Ballyhoos Bar and Grill.
Speaking of food, that was our only disappointment. It was expensive for what you get. We ate 2 times at Ballyhoos (burgers were ok) and once at Cafe Caribe ( much better burger and about the same price $13). It took awhile to get service at Ballyhoos, but once we ordered, the food was timely and hot. Our other meals were provided for by our hosting business. Those meals were presented well, but tasted just ok. The staff serving the meals did a great job. It reminded me of the quality and price you would see at any resort/theme park where you are a captive guest.
The resort is so large that it didnt seem like there were alot of people there, although there were. The only lines we waited in were for the funicular (tram) when everyone was going to the same place, i.e. Water taxi, or back from Palamino Island. The pool in the mid level was shallow, and therefore very quiet. We went twice and less than a dozen people were there both times.
At night, in our part of the resort, the Coqui frogs were VERY loud. I had read about those here and brought ear plugs- thank goodness. Some may find them very annoying.

I didnt have any experience with resort fees as those were paid by our company. I did need help with unlocking my safe, and there was no charge for security to come down (very quickly) and efficiently fix the problem.
Fitness center was quite small and did have a broken elliptical. However, it wasnt crowded at all.

Great value, very, very nice. We took the resort diving course and then went on a 60 minute dive. This was the one of the best dives I have ever done. The water park was fun, Palomino Island relaxing. We also rented wave runners from Palomino. The rooms are beautifully decorated.

We so enjoyed our stay at the resort. The views from our room and the other sections of the resort were breathtaking. The staff was very helpful and courteous. The food is priced like any resort and some restaurants, in the resort, are better than others. We rented a car and visited the rain forest, close by, and the caves that were about 21/2 hours away. It was worth it to rent a car, because you saved money driving yourself, instead of paying for a "trip". We also were able to eat at "local restaurants" and get a real taste of Puerto Rico. It truly helps to do research on the computer before you arrive. It made our stay very enjoyable and there were few surprises. The island that the resort owns is beautiful. It takes about 8 to 12 minutes to arrive and they have a ferry a half hour. The resort is huge, but we stayed in Los Olas area. We had our own pool for that area and our rooms were spacious and we could watch the sun rise over the water each morning. This place was just what the doctor ordered----since the mainland has had such a cold winter. We were very pleased.

The two of us spent 3 days followon to Caribbean cruise at El Conquistador, where we planned to experience Puerto Rico's rain forest and bioluminescent bay. After debarking from the ship, we taxied to the airport for rental car, and headed east for some fun in the sun.

The trip to Fajardo was effortless, and when we arrived at the hotel (earlier than checkin time) the valet told us the wait to check in might take awhile, because of the line of people checking out. We thought "no problem, we'll just hang out and explore the grounds until the line subsides". We did stop at the lobby anyway, and saw that there was no line at the HHonors check in counter, so we stopped and asked if we could check in early. The staff were very helpful and courteous, even though the line of people waiting to check out extended way past the lobby. I hadn't been in contact with the news services for several days, so I didn't realize what was happening. Hurricane Earl was imminently approaching the island, and this hotel at the eastern tip of Puerto Rico was directly in the predicted path.

To make a long story short, the three days my wife and I spent celebrating our 41st anniversary were both scary and wonderful at the same time. The hotel staff did a great job keeping us comfortable through some of the worst weather we have ever experienced. Needless to say, all services and visitor facilities on the Island were shut down for most of that time, power outages were frequent, and our plans were totally ruined.

We stuck it out though, and my wife and I got to spend some quality time together doing abolutely nothing but watching the weather. We couldn't be happier with the facilities at the hotel that kept at least minimal guest services running,

Who could imagine that this would turn out to be such a memorable event doing absolutely nothing?

We hope to return to the island and to this resort again in the near future to visit all the things we missed out on. But we have no regrets for the time we spent there in this beautiful, wild and wet paradise.

I'm not sure I really need to write a review... this place sells itself. You can't beat the amenities, the location, the service...

This was the last leg of a multi-stop tour of Puerto Rico. We decided that even if the rest of the trip was bad (which it was NOT) that at least the last day would be nice. The Conquistador far exceeded my already high expectations. From the moment you enter and park the staff guides you effortlessly through registration and acquiants you with the resort and all it offers.

This place is like a self contained city. And though I recommend getting out to see Puerto Rico and all it offers... you really wouldn't need to leave the resort if you don't want to. You can get anything you need right there. Granted you will pay for it... but you don't go to a place like this if you are pinching pennies.

Be sure to take advantage of the spa and get a massage.
