“Lasting Friendships....”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed July 2, 2014

I am late to the game in just reviewing this tour, we took this in March while on the Allure of the Seas for Spring Break. From adding our "Little Foodies" at the last minute before we left port, to the end of the tour, Janet and her tour guides were amazing! We met our guide at the information booth along with some others from our ship - being from Florida we were used to the heat but the kids were a little antsy in the warm sun. They made sure the kids were happy and taken care of with free water throughout the tour. We always like to take some of the more "off the beaten path tours" and this tour delivered! We learned about this history of Falmouth, walked around and sampled some of the best fruits and foods from the area as well. Papaya, pineapple, coconut, breadfruit, salt cod and LOTS more - the highlight was the Jamaican Beef Patties - which my daughter LOVED! She said it was the best thing she had eaten that week so far (and this was including cruise ship food!)... we also got a chance to meet Miss Ann and her cats, which my kids loved. The coconut desserts and cucumber water were delicious, it was a nice end to a fun tour sitting in the shady backyard of her beautiful home. If your looking for thrills this isn't the tour for you - BUT if you are looking for fun, history and great food - this is the tour for you. We made a lasting friendship with Miss Janet and will always stop and say hi when we are in Falmouth.

Dear Kristina D,
With a beautiful review like this, you are never to “late to the game” ! My team and I truly enjoyed hosting you and your family, and we can not forget your daughter’s enthusiasm for our beef patties - and have all the pictures to prove it! :-)

Meeting and hosting guests who are as enthusiastic and appreciative of the Falmouth Food Tour as yourself and your family were, is part of what makes our job so enjoyable, and we definitely look forward to welcoming you back on your next stop in Falmouth.

Thanks again for such a glowing review!

Warm regards

“Experience Jamaica's History + Culture through food”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed June 29, 2014

This was such a wonderful way to spend our day in Falmouth! Instead of just walking around on our own, we were guided from the cruise ship port through the town's major historical landmarks. The two wonderful tour guides that accompanied us were so much fun and filled with energy. They allowed the entire group to remain enthused about Jamaica's culture, history, agriculture, and language. Beyond that we had a perfect sampling of local foods including seasonal fruits, beef patties, roasted yam/breadfruit, jerk chicken, and desserts. We even got a chance to stop at Pepper's Jerk Chicken to hang out and watch the ending of a World Cup game while sipping on Red Stripes.

If you are headed to the island, this is a great way to keep your stomach and mind filled with the wonders of Jamaica! Thank you ladies!!!

“Fun and yummy”
4 of 5 stars Reviewed June 19, 2014

This was our second cruise to Falmouth in a short time period. The first time, we took the Heritage Walking Tour (liked it). This time, none of the cruise excursions looked interesting, we looked online and saw this. It's nice as they can still meet you in the secure cruise area of the port. However, the scheduled tour time is in local Jamaica time, whereas Royal Caribbean keeps their ship time in Eastern time; so we were an hour early.

If you're looking for 5 star cuisine in an air conditioned restaurant, skip this tour. I don't mean this as a bad thing, just setting expectations. You'll do a bunch of walking in Jamaican heat, including eating standing at a number of local food carts. If you can live with that, book the tour and enjoy some great food!

Some stuff we had: sugar cane, Jamaican apples, salt fish, yams, breadfruit, coconut water, coconut jelly, beef patties, jerk chicken, festival bread, coconut deserts, and probably more.

Our daughter is 11. While still limited, she has a broader palette than most kids her age; she enjoyed all the food.

If I had one complaint, it's that we stopped at a bakery and had delicious beef patties, but no desert! I would have taken 1/2 a patty in order to sample some baked goods too.

Had a great time, it was cheaper than most cruise excursions, and is probably the only time I haven't returned to the ship hungry.

Dear Rich004

The caption of your review speaks volumes, and we are delighted that you found the tour fun, and the food yummy! Our tour guides still fondly remember your daughter and her enthusiasm and willingness to try everything! Our aim is that our guests should never return to their ship hungry, so we’re glad to hear we accomplished that!

Our bad - we probably forgot to point out that the coconut desserts that you enjoyed as your last tasting were all from the family-owned bakery where you enjoyed the beef patties, so you actually did sample some of their desserts. Hope you’ll come back again so we can treat you to a few more of their delicious baked goodies!

Thanks again for choosing the Falmouth Food Tour and for your great review.

Warm regards

“Not to be missed!”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed June 17, 2014

The emergence of this tour last year was one that was missing for those wishing to see Falmouth, once the main port for Jamaica. Sonya, our enthusiastic guide, took us through the streets of Falmouth as she related the history of this town to us. The small grouping of no more than 12 of us helped to foster a relaxed and friendly atmosphere that helped us to connect with the guides and the city. The variety of food offered to us came with an explanation of how to prepare it and why it is eaten with other foods. The most surprising was the combination of mackerel with bananas and breadfruit and yucca. With almost two hours with our guides, we never felt rushed .
Although this is not a tour endorsed by the cruise ships, yet, there is no need to stress about finding the guides or arriving back too late for the ship. If you like to wander through the local neighborhoods and enjoy local cuisine, this should tour should not be missed.
