I hadn't been back to the Tempest Arms for nearly 10 years after moving out of the area. I hoped we would not be disappointed as I remembered the food was really good; we certainly were not ! Pulling in the car park we knew we were in for a bit of a wait as we struggled for a space, but what do you expect on the Saturday evening of a bank holiday weekend, it is actually closer and probably easier to park across the road in the overspill car park. We had to wait about 10 minutes in the bar until a table came free. After not too long of a wait (and a platter of delicious fresh bread to keep us going) our food arrived, definitely no small portions here! I had the mixed grill comprising of steak, gammon, sausage, lamb chop and black pudding, along with half a field of potatoes made into home made chips !! My fiancée had the roast ham platter, we both loved it !!. I would definitely eat here again, book beforehand, turn up early and try one of the guest beers, and when you are finished and paying the bill, don't forget a bar of their own chocolate, as good as Belgian chocolate !! Enjoy! We did :)
