Picked this up through Trip Advisor and found it busy, so worth booking as there are not a lot of tables. The 'snug' appears to be a corridor!
Basic pub with good Greene King ales. ( perfect St Edmunds) and reasonable wines. Great home cooking - fish and chips with a thin, spot on batter - no pre pack frozen here - although sadly the chips had succumbed to oven fries ( even the Paris Terminus Nord has, so hardly a real crime - despite the tragedy) - the specials on the board and menu small but varied , with some veggie options.
Great value for money too, good to see sensible prices for sensible food.
The service was cheerful and attentive plus at the table which was pleasant for a small pub.
Nice location, so you can sit outside and look at the unassuming green
I bet it buzzes on Sunday
Unpretentious, honest food, honest prices, a warm welcome - a real village pub
