“First day of the season and everything perfect”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed March 1, 2015

We stayed in this hotel the first day of last year season and, though they were getting back to normal, everything was perfect on our stay. It is the last hotel on the road so it was quiet and calm.

Room was the cheaper one, and still nice and big. The only issue was that room was facing the entrance, so it was a bit noisy sometimes.

There are some restaurants in the harbour, near the hotel, and it is a short drive to Ayamonte and Portugal.

We did not bath on the sea, but pool was perfect and service around was very nice.

We will definitely repeat sometime.

Room Tip: Avoid rooms on reception side, as you can hear people going in and out, and driving to the hotel.

Food and accommodation excellent. Staff very pleasant and hard-working whether in reception, restaurants or maintaining rooms. We love exploring the walkways adjacent to the beach and strolling around the marina and the village of Punta del Moral. Many bird can be observed in the area around the old salt workings nearby.
We are returning for a break in June 2015 - looking forward to it after an indifferent winter in Britain!

Room Tip: Rooms facing Isla Christina have excellent views. The comings and going of the fishing boats did no...

This was an ealy season break for us and i am so please we booked to stay here.
We had Half board and expected to eat out as they can be challenging, but didn't most nights. The wine was reasonable priced at the table too.
We lunched out in the harbour and can recommend gettiing the ferry to Isla Christina as the Tapas is cheaper and great over there.
The Hotelliers of the Canaries should stay here to learn how to do good service

We booked this holiday through Thomson holidays and it will be the last time we do! Firstly we were told this hotel was a Thomson Platinum property,But on arrival we could see no sign of this apart from a cardboard poster in the reception, We later found out that the hotel had lost it's Platinum accreditation and was being turned into a family friendly hotel,This was not what we booked or paid for, The Thomson Rep Ben was useless it took him five days to get us a bath mat and if you went to him with issues he fobbed you off,There was no tea and coffee making facility in the rooms and you have to rent a kettle,The food selection in the restaurant was shocking and was based more on German and Spanish taste and food was being recycled for the evening meal to breakfast,I got serious food poisoning during my stay although I could not say for sure if this was the fault of the hotel,The food poisoning was so serious I had to go to the local Doctor for treatment, As for the entertainment in the hotel it was rubbish and hardly any and what they had was very poor mime acts terrible!!
There is nothing in the resort itself and nothing for children, Apart from a few bars and supermarkets that's it.
During my stay I raised all the issues with the Thomson rep Ben and Thomson help line and on my return Thomson after travel but they were not interested and pretty much told me to get lost, I WILL NEVER BOOK A HOLIDAY WITH THOMSON EVER AGAIN !! AVOID THIS HOTEL AND THOMSON HOLIDAYS ONCE THEY HAVE YOUR MONEY THERE NOT INTERESTED!

Me and my husband stated here in May 2014 and couldn't fault it. We had a lovely corner room with views over the sea and estuary. We paid a total of £600 for a week half board for both of us. The food was great and the wine was not expensive.

We went on a trip to Seville which was fantastic, and took the little ferry over to Isla Christina, and enjoyed tapas and Rioja.

I would recommend this hotel and would stay again. You can change the language on the tv for the programmes that are recorded in English and dubbed over with Spanish. Just change the settings.

Appearances can be deceptive, first impression at the end of a purpose built quiet tourist area, i had visited before many years ago when it had just been built, it was quiet then just as it was quiet now, I quite like Isla Canela, its better than Isla christina and most of the other resorts in this area, So up to reception booked in looked very grand, no porter to take luggage , just directions to the lift, it was in stark contrast to last year and my first stay in a Melia at Sancti Petri in which the receptionist took me personally to the room and explained all about the room and hotel, , anyway i had requested a high floor but didnt get, though the room was pleasant with decent view and decent balcony, no information about hotel in a welcome pack etc, though I later found it was on the T.V , comfortable bed though pillows far to soft so had to make do with a towel under the soft pillow, nice enough bathroom but was a really awkward shape to put the plug in , you had to lean at an angle to stick it in, drippy pipes outside onto the ground, there was a lot of rain and a lot of flies nether were the hotels fault, Grand atrium and pleasant places to sit, though I was travelling independently from Portugal I noticed the Thomson rep seemed to be very helpful and was often seen late into the evening, room cleaned daily very efficient hotel maids, staff in all parts of hotel were good, but lets go back to the start first impressions, no high floor on request and the 2 people on reception were having a slight disagreement about my rooms, and when I checked out there was a few drinks booked down to my room, which did not belong to me and it took 20 minutes to waive the bill, now considering I have just spent well over £1,000 direct to the hotel for 7 nights I expect the service to be better at reception, and I do not expect to wait 20 minutes for a head waiter to give me the ok as to whether or not I had booked the drinks down, on the final bill it was easy to see not one alcoholic drink had i consumed so what should have been 2 minutes took far longer for the sake of 12 euros, now for the food, the waiters and waitresses along with the chefs were very good, the restaurant did indeed feel like a canteen but thats down to the design of the original owners, food was ok In my opinion it was 3 to 4 star in the evening and 4 star at breakfast, I normally avoid all inclusive like the plague, and I was booked on a half board basis, in an all inclusive hotel in which I believe the food is not usually so good, but it was reasonable with enough choice , grounds of the hotel were fine and a really good beach with miles of walks or runs to be enjoyed its a peaceful place out of season though it was fairly busy, overall rating of the property is not average as shown above its probably between 3 to 4 green dots.

My wife and I stayed at the Atlantico in June 2014 for 11 nights. The staff in reception and dining room were very good, the chambermaids couldn't be more helpful.
The hotel is right by the entrance of the estuary, and it was nice to see the fishing boats coming in after a nights fishing. The hotel beach is reached by a 2 min walk from the hotel along a purpose built boardwalk. The beach is sandy and well maintained by hotel staff.
Our room was at the top of the hotel which is what we requested, clean, and with a small balcony and a view out to sea. There was entertainment every night in the hotel lounge and bar, where prices I thought were reasonable. The hotel dining room was modern and comfortable, the menu was varied and choices of around 8 maincourses each evening, well presented by friendly staff.
Ayamonte was a ten minute drive away, from here it was ten minute ferry ride across to Villa Real in Portugal. We hired a car from Faro airport for £81 for 12 days.
I would recommend the Atlantico as a quiet well located friendly hotel with a lot to do in the area.

Room Tip: Upper level floors were very quiet
