“amazing”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed August 6, 2013

The price for the boat-trip is 17 euro per person. The trip lasts one hour, and the view is amazing! Unfortunately the guide speaks only French, but it definitely worths the price!

“Must do”
4 of 5 stars Reviewed July 20, 2013

The 75 minute boat trip from the marina to visit the caves and see Bonifacio from the sea was well worth it. The boats captain showed his skill in taking the boat into a cave not much wider than the boat and we were all amazed to see daylight streaking in from a large hole in the caves roof. We then visited a few other caves before sailing down the coast under the old town before returning to the marina.

“Bonifacio from the sea”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed June 9, 2013

Bonafacio is the scenic jewel of Corsica and the one hour boat cruise is the best way to enjoy it. You enter Bonafacio from N 198 highway and are greeted by several parking lots that charge by the hour to max.11 Euro. Try to get one of the lots closest to the marina particularly if mobility challenged. There is a tourist train that will take you up to the old walled city. We chose to walk and it was a 10 - 15 minute uphill hike, very scenic with photo ops.

After lunch we took the boat cruise which was the highlight of our visit. They offer the one Grotto tour for 17 euro, which we did, as well as a three hour tour for 33 euro that includes the nearby islands. The skill of the captain was impressive as he was able to turn the boat 180 degrees inside the grotto. The view of the ramparts from the sea offers a new understanding of the impregnability of the medieval ramparts. My only criticism is that the commentary during the tour was in French only particularly was the commentary was on only 40% of the tour so it would have been very easy to add some Italian and English.

The old town is quite charming with several interesting attractions and restaurants. We enjoyed doing the Escalier du Roi d’ Aragon - 2,50 Euro, but the 187 steps makes it a challenge if you are unfit or fearful of heights. We had lunch at the Lonely Planet recommended Cantina Doria in the old town but wished we had waited and ate at one of the scenic marina dockside restaurants.

I would recommend that you take one of the larger tour boats that offer open bow seating. Take a coat for the boat ride particularly if you plan to sit in the exposed bow seating!

“Must do... Without doubt”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed June 7, 2013 via mobile

This is probably one of the best boat trip i did. I already came 10 years ago, but this is still breath taking. The view of Bonifacio from the sea is also very nice.
It is great value for money and i would definetively recommend the hour excursion.

“You will not forget this trip”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed February 28, 2013

Nice, exciting and not very long or boring boat trip. I was amazed, how our ship finally fitted into the entrance of the cave.
Crystal clear and blue lagunes around are also hardly accesible except getting there by boat.
On the way back excellent views of Bonifacio walls. Good to start exploring city with this trip and after this experience continue for sighseing the Citadelle .
