“A treasure in Bonifacio”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed August 5, 2013

We stayed 4 nights at this lovely place during a Provence/Corsica/Sardinia excursion and it was truly a delight. From the pretty rooms, to the beautiful gardens, the restaurant, the pool, the artwork (clever pieces tucked away everywhere), and the service. For a small place, it was among the best we've enjoyed. They were lovely to my two sons, as well.

Some reviewers noted it was a bit out of town, but we found it to be a manageable walk and short drive. It is a bit expensive, but definitely worth it. We will certainly be back

My wife and I stayed for four nights at the end of our honeymoon. The staff were delightful and could not have been more helpful. The room was divine, charming in a rustic-chic way and very comfortable. The pool and gardens are simply beautiful. The kitchen is first-class, with all the home-baked local specialities and home made yogurts a particular treat at breakfast. The veg comes from the herb garden where we wandered and pinched the odd strawberry from. A Cheda is fairly priced and an utter pleasure.
It would be suitable for a well behaved young family too. But this is a quiet, gentle place where too much raucousness would not really fit in with the mood.

A recent stay at A Cheda was quite enjoyable. Because it is out of town(3-4 minute drive) there is more space to unwind and find calm away from the busy and tightly knit harbor at Bonifacio. A lovely swimming pool is available as is a Jacuzzi and sauna. However, the Jacuzzi was not maintained at a usable temperature or even covered when we were there in late May. The sauna is a surprise delight. The grounds are well maintained. Not all rooms in the same price category are the same. If you want a queen sized bed make sure to specify so. The restaurant is quite pricey compared to equivalents in town. This is a fine destination for the traveler who wants a bit of pampering while exploring the southern tier of the island.

Room Tip: There is a great bakery on the left going into town for a quick "breakfast" on the run or...

We went to this hotel regarding to our found in the TripAdvisor, it was the best place we have found in Corsica. We got a duplex room, very charming place.

Unfortunately the restaurant was not as expected the food was good but to much expensive for the quality 60 Eur for a menu, for us the value of the value is more around 30 Eur than 60 Eur.

But a very good place to stay.

Wow. Sometimes you forget what a great hotel experience is until...
Yes, the restaurant is amazing. Great service, delicious food, top notch.
However, we didn't eat there every day. What we enjoyed was returning early afternoon from a morning on one of the perfect beaches, or a leisurely lunch in town and opening a bottle of white, sitting in the garden or by the pool and just relaxing in their magic garden. Their service really stood out for us, and they are certainly worth the little bit extra you may have to pay for it.

5 of 5 stars Reviewed August 18, 2012

We stayed here in the first week of August 2012 for our honeymoon and we had an amazing time.

We stayed in one of the small lodges, I think they call them lodge de charm, and it was excellent, very clean and constantly being cleaned with beds turned down and new towels at least twice a day. The room was big, long and narrow, with a bathroom at the end and we loved the quirky rough, curved plaster finish and exposed stone and drift wood features.

The service was very good, always lots of people buzzing around and saying bonjour. The concierge was really helpful advising us on the best beaches and restaurants to go to during our stay. All the staff spoke good (better than my 1996 GCSE French!) English and were happy to help how ever they could.

We opted to stay on a room only basis but had a breakfast delivered to the room one day and ate in the restaurant on 2 nights. The food is amazing, Michelin standard (in my punter/non food critic opinion) but pricey as you would expect for the standard. We paid 160 Euros for our first meal and 220 Euros on the second occasion, which, don't get me wrong is a lot of money, but it was a great experience. The food was 70 Euros each for 3 courses on both occasions, the rest was drinks.

The hotel is situated on the the main Bonifacio road but we didn't hear any road noise whilst out by the excellent pool. It is 2-3km's out of Bonifacio which is a bit too far to walk in 32 degrees. The line of stationary traffic queuing to get into Bonifacio in peak season can stretch to the hotel entrance and parking in Bonifacio can be a bit of a nightmare as well so I'd get in early if you want to park. If you get the shuttle bus into town for the evening then I'd also advise to book a taxi back to the hotel well in advance if you're planning on staying out late as we ended up walking back to the hotel on one occasion. It was ok though as the temperature had dropped and we yomped it up the hill in 30 minutes.

We didn't realise before we went just how expensive Bonifacio is, it appears to be on the rich boy yachting circuit and the harbour, when we were there, was full of huge yachts. The pricing especially in the harbour reflects this cliental, it's cheaper and generally less flashy in the old town. We preferred it up there. We took the train (little car with big engine pulling carriages up the road) up to the old town for 5 Euros and ate relatively cheaply.

Overall, great for a special treat, depending on how big your budget is.

We chose to stay here partly because there did not seem a decent hotel room availbale at Bonifacio town centre at the time of our visit but mostly because this place housed a good restaurant.
However, on arriving, the lady at the reception told us the restaurant was closed and the chef was on holiday. When I asked her for any ideas for our dinner that night, she just told us we could go to Bonifacio or Porto Vecchio if we had a car, showing no sympathy whatsoever.
Once back in home, I doublechecked if they had mentioned about the restaurant's annual closure in the booking confirmation or on their website but there was none.
Our duplex room was pretty but it was not very convenient going up and down the little stairs.
