Coban is kinda sketchy. I think you need to be on your toes. But, if your here, this is a solid option, because it is secure, great service, wonderful dining, really good coffee and breakfast. The lodging is spartan, shared bath, but clean and decent value. The staff is helpful. The courtyard is pretty, as are the various dining rooms.

Room Tip: Just a few rooms. Some doubles, and dome dorm type.

Casa d'Acuña consists of the restaurant and several small rooms. The resaurant serves delicious food! And thous gives you a change from the usual Guate-meals. The stuff was extreamly helpfull. The service was very professional. However we quickly knew nearly all the people and felt very welcome. The rooms are ok for one or two nights; clean, hot water, cheap and after the restaurant closes, very quite. It is true that you have to get used to the fact hat you are staying in a restaurant but in the end it was fun because you'll have a lot of local people around.

We arrived in Casa de Acuña dirty and still a little damp from Semuc Champey, but the incredibly welcoming staff took care of us as if we were royalty. The entire experience felt like a throwback to the 1950s-not in terms of the rooms (which, though basic, are spotlessly clean and a TREMENDOUS value at $7) but in terms of the level of service and the refinement of the entire experience. Every need was taken care of (and you owe it to yourself to try at least a piece of cake in the lovely, shady courtyard) with a level of graciousness that one doesn't often see these days. This hotel made our experience in Coban a true respite from the hostel circuit. Very highly recommended.

Casa d'acuna is mainly a restaurant but there are a few rooms on one side.

Good points
-Clean
- Safe and secure
- friendly staff
- cheap: 100 Q for double room!

Bad points
- it is an odd setup. The hotel bathrooms are also staff toilets next to the kitchen, so it's a bit weird when you need to shower. Means the men's bathroom is often busy.
- restaurant noise and music starts at 6.30 and continues until 11. It is quite disturbing
- really uncomfortable mattress in double room

Casa d'Acuna is a wonderful little hotel built around a courtyard with beautiful orchids. The food was delicious. I stayed in a dorm room with two bunkbeds, but had it all to myself. Bathroom was across the hall. Prices were very economical.
The experience was so delightful that I hope to return some day and stay longer.

This place is odd - there is a very smart courtyard and very smart looking (and courteous) guard and front desk. The restaurant is busy, high-end and tasty. The rooms are completely incongruous to this! We (a group of four friends) stayed in a tiny dorm with two sets of bunk beds (which one member of the group referred to as the "commune"). Musty, very dark and pretty noisy as near the courtyard (where the swanky restaurant is!). The communal bathrooms are the real let down - tepid showers, ineffectual shower curtain (so the floor is always soaking and grimy) and an aggressive light timer which means you are plunged into darkness every ten seconds or so and therefore forced to flail your arms about (whether using shower or toilet facilities) to get the light back. Odd given the quality and clear standing of the restaurant (which we tried, food was good even though service was a bit slow due to how busy they were).
