When arriving to La Flora you initially feel welcome.

During our stay, we lived in one of the rooms with the pool right outside and it was great!! Sometimes if you didn't feel like going to the beach or the resort's infinity pool, you could just go outside on your own front porch and jump right in. There is also a small jacuzzi in the pool outside each room for your use only. The room itself was very nice and quite big. When the staff had cleaned the room, they alway lid a sented candle so the room smelled nice for your return. Great detail.

When it comes to the rest of the resort it is really nice and way above average. The breakfast was good, with a huge selection of cold and hot dishes, but the design of the restaurant could be nicer (more minimalistic - too many coloured commercial umbrellas outside on the beach...). If you are a design fanatic go see the resort next door (Ramada) instead.

While at the resort we tried their spa facilities and they were top of the line. We chose a 2½ hours couples treatment (milk bath, coffee scrub and oil massage). It was not cheap (200 Euros for the both of us), but worth every penny.

All in all a great resort with extremely friendly and serviceminded staff. Some details could be improved which is why we don't rate it with a "full house". However, we will strongly recommend it - especially for young couples with children if you stay in the same kind of room as we did.

  • Liked — The pool outside the room
  • Disliked — Dissappointed about the overall design which looked nicer on pics

A lovely beach and pleasant, helpful staff, but very cramped seating immediately in front of 'luxury' beachside villas, extremely loud (and bad!) evening music, ugly stage and excessive lighting obstructing the lovely sea views, average and overly expensive food and drinks, and very hard and uncomfortable beds. Staff were quite responsive to complaints and sorted out problems as well as they could, but it's unfortunate to have so many issues to deal with when one has invested in what should be a very comfortable and carefree holiday.

  • Liked — beach location
  • Disliked — loud and bad evening music, hard and uncomfortable beds, average, expensive food and very small portions

Stayed at this resort for 4 nights. Lovely pool access room with jacuzzi (these are at the back of the resort so no beach view) and restaurant overlooking the beach. Buffet breakfast had a good selection (a bit over the sickly sweet juices and no water) but the nightly buffet dinners were too overpriced and the cocktails didn't seem to have any alcohol in them! Hence most visitors head to the restaurants down the road so the resort bar becomes deserted.
The library had German books and magazines only and the cable TV had limited channels. The beachfront and pool were too overcrowded during the day with uncomfortable plastic beach chairs packed onto the grass like sardines, and this is right in front of the most expensive rooms!
My partner had lost his wallet in Cambodia and when my ATM card went missing at the resort and we had no access to cash the staff were fairly unsympathetic. After taking our statement we had no response from management and the staff couldn't even tell us where the nearest Western Union was - sending us on an expensive trip to Phuket (luckily we spotted one halfway there). They were more concerned about us paying our expensive bill. Glad we didn't pay full price for the stay!

  • Liked — The room and direct pool access
  • Disliked — Crowded, poor service from management

All our thanks to the hotel staff from the top to the bottom for a truly great stay our room was on the first floor of the walk in pool rooms block and had a jaccuzi bath with under water lights of different colours the room pool and hotel were always cleaned to a good standered and and nothing was too much trouble for the staff breakfasts at the hotel were excellent with every type of food you could wish for outside the hotel are many local restaurants which serve both Thai and European food Our favourite being a small family restaurant called The Candle which is the last restaurant on the left on the road that leads to the main road to Khao Lak the food is great and the chef has a passion for cooking it is well worth a visit Once again thanks to everyone at the La Flora hope to see you all again

  • Liked — the interaction with the staff as we think that having a laugh and fun is what a holiday is about
  • Disliked — the cost of the mini bar in the room if the prices had been lower we would have used it every day

My husband and I stayed at the La Flora in a deluxe room for 10 nights during the "green season" . I only have the highest praise for this hotel - everything was superb - from the excellent standards of cleanliness and hygiene, superb decor and comfy beds, manicured grounds, fabulous staff and great breakfast too. Nothing could be faulted and I am very particular!

We were greeted with a cold towel and fresh juice on arrival and shown to our room whilst being given a brief orientation of the hotel. We had a fruit bowl in our room with orchids and a welcome letter which was lovely.

The bed linen and towels were changed every day unless you didn't require this, and they smelled heavenly! Pool towels are provided as are toiletries and hairdryer. Even bathrobes and slippers too! 2 bottles of water every day are complimentary and there are free tea and coffee making facilities in your room also. Mini bar is chargeable. Several english TV channels. Large bathroom with bath and separate large shower - big enough for 2!

The hotel is right on the beach with an infinity pool. The pictures on the hotels website are accurately portrayed. We managed to get a lovely tan in spite of the daily rainfall - it was still very hot!

The hotel spa is excellent and very professional - both myself and husband had an aromatherapy massage - heavenly! There is also a small fitness centre, library, internet room (although there is free wifi in reception), nintendo wii for the kids or young at heart available from reception.

We had breakfast in the hotel and for lunch or dinner, walked either along the beach or up the road to several restaurants in the area which were all very good. Our favourite was the Paradise restaurant. There is also an Indian restaurant right outside the hotel which is very good and also does laundry much cheaper than the hotel. If you go to Khao Lak centre they do advertise laundry services even cheaper.

To sum up I loved this hotel and the friendly reception staff who went out of their way to help. I was very sad to leave and hope to go back very soon!

  • Liked — High standard of cleanliness couldn't be faulted.
  • Disliked — Nothing!
