Weligama is a relaxing and scenic coastal town, along the eastern coast of Sri Lanka.. It however had suffered from the Tsunami of 2006. The shoreline has cut further into the land area, and has revealed huge rocks that were never there before. The people there had suffered too; but they are building their lives again. Lace making is a cottage industry and a few women have restarted this business. Their work is very intricate and lovely. it takes something like 3 months to do a beautiful lace tablecloth.
Go there my friends. The beach is lovely and buy some laces. By doing so you will be helping the women there to have an income, and rebuild their lives. So its service with a smile for you; but they shed tears in gratitude when you buy something from them.
Go there, do this service and Mother Nature rewards you with a scenic view - one you will never forget; be it sunrise, sunset or any other time of day!
