“One of the best holiday we ever had”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed January 9, 2012

We stayed at Holiday Inn for 2 nights. We were booked at one of the suites near the slopes, which gave us a nice scenery. The room was really spacious and the bed was comfortable. The kitchen was complete with utensils so we were able to cook food. There a lots of restaurants nearby though. There is a mini grocery nearby. Free wifi is really a big plus. We were able to upload our photos online almost in real time. The staff was really very helpful and accommodating from the front desk people down to the cleaning lady. The front desk people I spoke to speak decent English. Me and my family come from a tropical country and this was our first time to experience snow. Our 3 kids had lots of fun playing in the snow. We were not able to try the winter sports activities offered by the resort though. But nevertheless, we are already looking forward to return this year for another wonderful Christmas holiday.

The Alpensia Resort is perfect for us, beginners to skiing! First time touching snow, my 2 kids were elated! The place is very scenic, it has 5 ski slopes of different steepness, for different levels of skiers. We hired an instructor (a staff of Holiday Inn) and he was simply great! We were able to ski down the slope without falling or knocking into someone else after 2 hours of lessons.
The Resort is 1 year old, so everything is still very new and comfortable. The room has no bed. We slept on futons on floor like real Koreans! Our room was facing the ski slopes, the view was so refreshing!
Not all staff speaks English, but we got by with no issue. The very helpful supervisor was apologetic about it, but she promised when we return in one year, she would have them all trained in English! That was nice of her!

We enjoyed Alpensia very much! Thanks!

Room Tip: Facing the ski slopes would be my recommendation.

We stayed there for 3 days in a 1 bedroom suite with open kitchen. A small ski field is just a few minutes away, we snowboarded at the evening time at the first day arrival.
Super market, Korean restaurant, water park are just in a walk distance.
YongPyong resort is just 5 minutes text.
The suite is neatly decorated. Kitchen and bathroom are clean and tidy. Bedroom is comfortable.
We feel like we were home.
The suite make a highlight to the trip. My boyfriend did a great job!

We ( two families , 4 adults and 3 children ) checked in on 21 st December 2011 for 3 days 2 nights . This hotel is simply awesome ; beautiful ski slope , clean and spacious apartment , plenty of eatery place ( Korean , Japanese , fast food like Domino ) , convinent stores and friendly staffs . The staffs do speak reasonably well English and this is very important for us who do not speak and understand Korean language .

We booked a three rooms apartment ( 1st room - queen bed . 2nd room - 2 single beds . 3rd room - ondol room ) . Our unit is clean , well kept and spacious . Kitchen is equipped with all cooking utensil and you can cook if you want to .

Would recommend to attend cheese making class . This is an hour hand on lesson that starts at 6.30pm . The cottage cheese is simply yummy , yummy ..... Teacher begins the class by telling us the history of cheese . The class is next to the convenient store .

Remember to book the English speaking Ski Coach fast and early . English coach is highly in demand exspecially during the peak season .

Another plus point about Alpensia is that the shuttle bus ( not free and you have to pay ) stop right in front of the welcoming center , alpensia . This is very important and helpful exspecially during the winter time .. It is not fun at all waiting for bus outdoor in the old weather .

Room Tip: Try to ask for block 201 , which is nearer to ski house .

This is a very good hotel. The hotel is beside the ski mountain. The rooms met a high standard for cleanliness. The TV and WIFI in the room worked well.

The rooms r simply Awesome!. 2 bedrooms(one wz a queen size bed, the other wz ondo set for 2). Kitchen is well equipped. 2 bathrooms(one wz shower, the other wz longbath). Sofa set, dinin' table wz lots of chairs. Fridge is big enough to stock up on yr groceries. Place is well kept & very clean. Got a unit directly infront of ski slopes. So, u can imagine the scenery I got whilst standin' @ the balcony!.

Wud recommend those wz family to this place coz everythin' is within' walkin' distance. 2 korean rests. 1 japanese, 1 fast food burger outlet, 1 kareoke lounge, 3 family marts, Angel in Us coffe rest & a pub!. Ofcourse, there's the ski shop, souvenir shops & couple more shops includin' a medical centre, cafetaria plus a huge swimmin' complex(Ocean 700) nearby-abt 10 mins walk!. 3 hotls front this place - Intercontinental, Holiday Inn Resort & Holiday Inn Suites(where I'm stayin').

Those wantin' a nice scenery of the ski slopes, try askin' for blocks 202 & 203(in the middle of this complex & access to everythin' is within 5 mins walk fm yr block(except Ocean 700). Remember to ask for units facin' the ski slopes.

Basically, the staff are helpful & very polite. And yes, they speak very fluent English. Wifi is accessible in this area. Ski lessons r conducted in the mornin' and it's in English!.

Overall, this place is lovely & wonderful for the family outin'. Nearby(abt 10 mins taxi ride) is the nearby town where my family stop over fm Seoul(Dong Seoul bus Terminal). Hoengye or Hwangye is the name of this place. Abt 2hrs 30mins ride(it's the 3rd stop fm Seoul). Lots of good local food. We had our lunch @ one of the local Korean food outlet. It was wonderful home cooked korean food!. The lunch meal for the four of us cost 45000 won but it was a feast!.

This is the 3rd day for us in Korea & 2nd in Alpensia. We spent the 1st nite in Metro hotel(another very good place to stay in Korea). We wl move on to Konjiam Resort(near Everland) tomorrow mornin' for a 2 nites stay. Wl round up our Korean trip wz a return to Metro hotel for another 4 nites stay.

Wl try to write on the hotel stay & their attractions whenever time permits. So, cheers to everyone in this forum!.

Stayed in a 2 bedroom suite for a long weekend in October. One room had a "soft" western-style bed with down comforter while the other room was ondol-style (beds on the floor). Our kids took the ondol room and we took the soft queen bed. There was a kitchen, dining area, and living room with couch. A nice little balcony overlooking the mountains.

The ski area wasn't opened yet, but the alpine sled, the paragliding, and many other activities were running. An outdoor playground, quads, go carts, a fun house...Our kids (4 and 7) had plenty to do. There is an indoor waterpark in walking distance. It was not meant for younger kids as our 4 year old was too short to ride a lot of the waterslides, but it passed the time.

Most of the restaurants are Korean, even if they say "Japanese or Chinese" it's Korean-style. There is a dominoes and a few other sandwich and coffee shops. There's an awesome Gelato stand.

We will definitely go back, and would recommend it to others looking for a somewhat Western feel in Korea.
