“Rundown, depressing with karaoke music to boot”
1 of 5 stars Reviewed September 18, 2012

This cold spring turned out to be merely a toilet stop for us.

Entrance fee was 10 pesos. Loud, unseemly karaoke music was playing with discordant locals singing (many Filipino(a)s are beautiful singers: these were not).

The cold spring is rundown: the concrete needs painting, the nipa huts look grotty.

The whole place looks like a demolition job.

We dipped our toes in the cold water but couldn't be bothered standing in it.

“A great place when it's boiling hot!”
4 of 5 stars Reviewed August 18, 2012

I first went to Banahaw Spring in 1999 when it was nothing but a hole with cool water inside.
As the years have gone on, the owners of the place have turned it into a small recreational site, which is rather pleasant.
They have cemented a whole side, which I thought was a shame at first, but is actually quite nice and clean.
They have built cottages too for people to stay (and drink). They are made of local materials (bamboo and nipa) and, if maintained regularly, are nice to rest in.
The water is very clean, much more than a few years back when local people came and took showers or washed their clothes.
The entrance fee is really cheap. When the weather outside is very hot, it is wonderful to rest under the shade of the high coconut trees and enjoy a cold swim in the water.
I highly recommend that place if you have an afternoon to spare, doing nothing but drink beer and swim :)
