“A fine romance”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed January 31, 2014

The ultimate romantic resort. Well decorated rooms, unspoiled beach, romantic dinner settings! We had a lot of fun with the staff who organized a water fight against the other resort's staff in the hotel's truck in Ngapali.

This resort exceeded all our expectations and wishes for a relaxed end of our travels exploring Myanmar. The beach villa provided a private haven and all the luxury you want - a private access to the beach, a wooden porch big enough to move your deckchair following the sun and enjoy a sunset in first row. The resort is expertly managed, the cuisine an the cook a master of combining burmese food with a 5 star touch. All staff is engaged to fulfill your wishes - even without asking, as if they read your thoughts..amazing!
We will be back!

Room Tip: Definitely go for a beach villa front row! Ask for #116 at the end of the resort for most privacy

Towards the end of our month-long vacation in Myanmar, we chose a relaxing three day stay at this resort. It lived up to our expectations of being very relaxed, wonderful setting, comfortable accommodations, attentive staff and far from it all. The white beach sand was pristine and not a soul on the beach for most of the days we were there. Wonderful spa facilities. Delicious breakfast buffet and dinner outdoors and overlooking the ocean. Wonderful place to relax and unwind. Very comfortable separate bungalows with decks to sit and relax, read and stare at the ocean!

The amara Ocean resort is an amazing Hotel! I would recommend anyone who visita beautiful Myanmar to spend at least 3 days at the Amara Ocean Resort. It is by far the best Hotel at Ngapali Beach. We felt like Crusoe the first day on the amazing white beach with noonelse seen for miles! The bungalows are beautiful and the food was The best we had during our whole trip. Even the SPA was great. We spent 5 days and were really said when had to leave!

After our journey from the airport over amazingly rutted roads, we arrived at the Amara. We were given cold drinks and ushered to our bungalow-villa. The villa was beautifully furnished in a somewhat modern minimalist way. All the amenities were available except a bathtub.Service was wonderful. There is much gardening activity in the morning and everyone greets you with a friendly mingalaba. The food was good. Staff tries very hard and is eager to please, but needs more training.
The Manager is very "hands on" and listened intently to our compliments and our one complaint-no make up lights in the bathroom-dismally dark. He said he knew about it and was going to remedy the situation. The resort sits all alone on a beautiful stretch of beach. If you want night life, don't come here. There were some family groups and all ages seemed to be enjoying themselves. The only minus was an atrocious compulsory New Year's Eve dinner. It was set up on the beach. It was so dark, I couldn't see what the food was. I opted for some freshly grilled fish, but I had little else as I could not see the dishes. The entertainment also took place in a dimlly lit are, so I can't tell you if it was good or not. But,basically, we enjoyed our 3 night stay.

Room Tip: Get a villa that is ocean front.

This place is heaven. Situated at the far end of a tranquil beach, it is extremely quiet and gorgeous. The villa rooms are sublime - a soft bed, surrounded by a heavenly mosquito net, wifi, a lovely wide deck with comfortable deck chairs, I may well move in. The food is excellent with a good selection of western and Burmese and the most comprehensive wine list I've seen so far. Lots of little touches such as the beach basket for when you go down to the beach, beach chairs and umbrellas, fresh fruit, and on arrival 10 minute massage. Service is attentive, but be patient, they are still learning English.

Room Tip: I don't think there is a fitness centre - why ruin an otherwise perfect place. However the infin...

The Amara Ocean is a little far off but we knew this when booking the place. The setting is very beautiful, the bungalows are nice and the beach is fantastic. The Service is very friendly although they are still having some trouble fighting with the English language. We were suprised to see that the mayority of guests came from Germany.
