“Amazing Location and great staff”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed January 21, 2014

I have been in Vang Vieng on several occasions and I can sincerely say that Ban Sabai could very well have the best location of VV and area.

The warm welcome of the Ban Sabai staff starts with a delicious welcome drink and continues with endless sincere smiles.

Highly recommended to those who prefer to stay a bit out of the party town but who are in Vang Vieng for its beautiful nature and service.

The place is beautiful and you have great view of the river from the room balcony. They even serve you fruit punch upon check in. Great for taking pictures and its near all the restaurants. What I didn't like was the lighting. The room had only one small light bulb and it was impossible to read at night. Oh! and there was no TV.

The bungalows are very nice. The beds in Laos all seem to be very hard and uncomfortable, but aside from the beds the room is comfortable. I took a nice hot bath. I did feel a bit uncomfortable with bath as the bathroom has glass walls and my friends could see my silhouette when in bathroom. Not very pleasant for diners or those at restaurant nor for my privacy.
The breakfast included was very good. We had to switch hotels because rooms were full end of our trip, I was disappointed to go.

Nice place to stay for some unwinding. Staff are very friendly, the breakfast is very nice (some of the best we had on our low budget SEA trip) and the location right by the river is peaceful and quiet. Hire a bike and you're 'downtown' in no time!

We arrived at Ban Sabai after staying in our first night in other hotel we didn't like...
We passed by and decided to check the rooms... We loved it, so we decided to book for the next two nights.
We stayed in one of the upper bungalows, with a double bed. Mosquito net is provided, but as we travelled during winter and it wasn't really hot, it wasn't really needed (we didn't try the swimming pool for the same reason).
Room is simple, but nice. Not tv (really relaxing) and not fridge.
Bathroom is ok, perhaps new shower curtains would be better... But everything was really clean, which was what we were looking for...
Some people talk about animals inside the room... We didn't see anyone. But it is true that a bit of maintenance would make the bungalows 5*.
We loved the balcony, we used to stay there in the afternoon, reading and relaxing.
The restaurant is also good, just in the river, with paper lamps that give a great atmosphere at night...
Breakfast is included, and it is enough...
So, yes, I would recommend the hotel. The best thing is how relaxing, quiet and beautiful all the place is!!

We stayed in Vang Vieng for one night (en route to Vientiane from Phonsovan) and that was more than enough for us.

We wanted to eat somewhere quiet and this restaurant had a lovely location right by the river, with pretty paper lanterns overhead.

We both rated the vegetable spring rolls as good (although "she" found them a bit greasy).

"He" thought the chicken egg fried race was good; "she" found it a bit bland.

But both agreed that the chicken and vegetables in banana leaf was very good - wished we'd ordered two.

Service was fine - and the BeerLao was well chilled.
