“Lovely stay, beautiful guesthouse.”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed November 6, 2012

This guesthouse at the quiet end of Vang Vieng is a real gem. Som, the owner, is a very attentive host. The rooms are all very big and have lots of natural light. We had a massive double bed and a beautiful balcony. It was value: 80,000 kip including breakfast, which is big and tasty. Som makes delicious pancakes!
It does get a bit hot in the afternoon, so would reccomend getting A/C which is 20,000 kip more. Their little jacuzzi is also a good relief from the heat/ And just down the road and across the bridge there is a great swimming hole (2,000 kip admission fee).

I really can not recommend this place enough! If you are looking for a nice quiet stay in Vang Vieng this is the definitely the right place for you!

There are two vang viengs in my opinion. The north (city centre) where all the noise, tubers and chill out places are and the quiet southern part of the town.
Jammee guesthouse is in the south. On a good location, about 10 minutes walk from the city centre. First the roomrates: single 70.000 kip, double 80.000 kip, tripple 100.000 kip and family room (max 5 people) 120.000 to 150.000 kip. All rates are including breakfast, free tea and coffee.
The room are spacious and spotless. I think there is only 1 room which you dont wanna take and that is room number 4. This 1 have a problem with water in the wet season and is a kind of smelly inside ! Other rooms are perfect for the money. We stayed for 5 nights with 3 people. And took the family room. The room (and also the bathroom) was just bigger for 20.000 kip extra. The rooms have a garden in front or a balcony at the first floor. First floor have better mountain views !
Our room was (aprr) 7 x 4 meters with a big bathroom. 2 double beds and 1 single bed (mosquito net above each bed in the family room <<not in every room>>). Some chairs and a small table. 2 x fan and 1 a/c (a/c = 2 $ extra each day) Big windows at 3 sides so we had a lot of daylight.
Some little ants and gecko's in the room but that is almost everywhere in s-e asia. No invasion of ants :)
Free wifi in the rooms.
Towels, soap and toiletpaper are provided. Cleaning your room and bedsheets on demand. New towels every day. Laundry (wash and dry) 10.000 kip a kilo.
some free bottles of water on arrival.
Bathroom with hot water.
The breakfast is very good. Big baquette with egg and vegetables or big pancake or fruit/musli/curt. You can take free tea and coffe all day.
beers, water and softdrinks in a fridge on the groundfloor. If you take something just write it down in a book and pay when you leave the place.
Nice area were you can eat breakfast or just sit and relax. There is not a restaurant in the guesthouse but you can order food from a nearby restaurant. They bring it to your room if you want. We did it 1 time but the food was not that great so we ate in town all the others days.
The owner is very friendly for his guests. He can give you a lot of info. He can also arrange tickets to every place just for 1 or 2 dollar extra. Pick up at the guesthouse.
Lots of security camera's for your protection.

Some extra tips:

Rent bikes - walk to the street, go left and take the first or second bike rental. 10.000 kip for 1 day (in town it can be 20.000)
Swim - Just follow the road to tham chang cave (5 minutes walk). cross the bridge (2000 kip), turn left and after 2 minutes you see a beautifull clear blue pool. Cool water from the mountains. Very nice to swim there.
Visit the tham chang cave (15.000 kip ) But poukham cave is more beautiful (7-8 km from the guesthouse). You can also swim at poukham cave but the water is not that blue and clear as tham chang.

Room Tip: family room is 210

We stayed here for two nights and were very happy with our choice. The guesthouse is located just on the edge of the town and is just a short walk from everything. If you want to be in the centre of all the action this is not the place for you, but if you want a nice quiet place to chill out stay here. The room was huge and clean with a balcony and wifi. Jammee himself was very helpful and gave us a map of the area and pointed out sights. there is building going on but it never bothered us.

Stayed for four night in early July. This place is by far the best bang for your buck in Vang Vieng. The owner is the nicest guy we met in Laos and always tries to help you out whenever he can. The Australian man who works there even went out of his way to give us a ride back after he saw us walking in town. A great breakfast is included in the already extremely fair price. The view you get of the mountains from the second floor is unbeatable. Some might say that the only con is that it's about 10 minutes walk from town. However, we really liked this as it's nice and quiet and right near the blue lagoon and a great cave. The owner even gave us a free ride into town multiple times even though the walk isn't a big deal at all. Free tea and water and a jacuzzi are also a plus. Would definitely stay again and recommend to anyone! Might want to book ahead as it seems to get pretty full even though it's the low season.

We stayed here after having a look around Vang Vieng, the guesthouse is about 15 minutes walk to town it's very peaceful and quiet.
The room was really nice with good rural outlook.
Room had A/C, tv, hot water shower and fan.
Room was really clean.
The owner was really helpful, gave us rides to town if he was going and also picked us up if he saw us walking.
No problems with noise at all and provided a great place to just hang around and relax.
It's also near a swimming spot about ten minutes away.

We were really impressed with Jammee. We may have been lucky with our room - all were priced the same, but as a couple we had a room with 2 double and 1 single bed, making it huge, but the real advantage was the balcony, which looked out on an amazing mountain view.

The rooms are really clean, serviced every day and good value for money. Also, the service we received was excellent - while in Vang Vieng my wallet was lost and the manager was really helpful, driving us to Internet cafes to call home etc.

If there's a downside it's the location...more than 10 minutes to the centre of Vang Vieng, but with a view like that we were happy where we were. It's also really near the caves.

We really enjoyed our stay at Jammee guesthouse. The guesthouse is located just outside of the city center, an easy 10 minute walk from town. It is also an easy 10 minute walk away from one of the caves to go see.

Our room on the upper floor (with great balcony!) was basic but light, spacious and clean. We were provided with a mosquito net and a top sheet and blanket. The bed was somewhat on the springy side. The bathroom was a typical SE Asia type - no separation between toilet and shower. As mentioned in previous reviews the breakfast was simple but tasty and the seating area was lovely. I would not hesitate to stay here again.

Room Tip: Ask for upper floor.
