“Abusing their - so far - good reputation”
1 of 5 stars Reviewed January 9, 2014

Had done a day caving, trekking and kayaking trip with them in Vang Vieng in Oct 2013. As most people I decided based on good rating in LP. While the guide was quite nice, the kayaking equipment was totally unsafe. They are using old , worn out and many time repaired hard plastic kayaks (the better one's are the one's filled with air). As the water was not very high we were running over a small rock within minutes, making the kayak leaky as we obviously opened a repaired damage. Of course that led to turning the boat several times, hitting many rocks and the whole thing without helmets!!! And the other kayaks were unfortunately as run down. This combination is really unsafe and I have seen it differently in Laos, Namtha River Experience in Luang Namtha for example uses pump kayaks and helmets making it a safe experience. When I complained I was told that the Green Discovery Manager would get in contact with me, but he didn't in more than 3 months.

“Meing - Fantastic Guide”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed November 8, 2013

This company is very good. We did the full day kayaking - so memorable. We paddled with the current so it was easy - we stopped & visited two spectacular caves. The day was full of surprises - Meing actually made a small fire by the side of the river and barbecued kebabs for lunch!! Info - wear clothes which dry quickly as they will get wet. I wore long pants & long sleeves in order not to get sunburned with swimmers for underwear - also important to wear good walking sand les for the caves - also good when wet. Recommend 100 percent - enjoy!

“Go in the morning”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed November 6, 2013 via mobile

We took the half day kayaking package and paid a little extra to go as just the two of us rather than in a group.
Kael (?) was our guide and a very pleasant young man with a wide smile and sense of humour. We went in November when the river was largely clear and still had plenty of water. Beautiful scenery through the limestone mountains with a short detour to explore the sleeping cave. We left at 9am which meant we pretty much had the river to ourselves other than the local fishermen. The tube riders tend to start around lunch time so in the afternoon the river gets a lot more crowded and would be no where near as peaceful. The rapids were fast enough to be a little exhilarating but not at all dangerous. The rocks can be sharp and if you have the misfortune (as I did ) to fall out you can have a bang or two as you float down the rapids. The kayaks were a little battered but perfectly serviceable and safe. (Falling out had Nothing to do with the kayak) Really enjoyed this trip and would certainly recommend it.

“Effortless”
4 of 5 stars Reviewed July 22, 2013 via mobile

My partner and I went kayaking in the rainy season in late July. Not crowded but since it was just the two of us at 3.30pm, we paid 80,000 kib per person for a 5km down Namsong River (instead of 8 km). But the guide who kayaked with us was honest to tell us. Kudos to him. It was effortless as the kayak just went down stream due to the current; just needed to navigate. Enjoyed the vie in the drizzle. Life vests were provided and that's an excellent idea. We did not stop at the three bars which were still operating in the low season. It was a one hour ride down five kilometers on the beautiful Namsong River. Recommended.

“Hiking, cave tubing, kayaking!”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed June 12, 2013

We book the tour for hiking, cave tubing and kayaking.
We stated hiking and then we went cave tubing. The water was still fresh. After we had nice lunch in a small Lao village.
Later, we went by bus up north the stream.
From there we were kayaking down the river back to Vang Vieng.
It was so much fun!
I recommend to do this trip instead of doing the tubing. (when the river is low, the tubing can take hours and a lot accidents happens....)
