“I would recommend this hotel for a relaxing beach holiday”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed July 11, 2013

I would recommend this hotel for a relaxing beach holiday . The hotel is set in an idealistic background with a beautiful beach . The facilities provided were what you would expect at a luxury hotel, there was a great variety of food and the staff were very helpful and always ready to help.

My wife and I spent two weeks here on Honeymoon in May 2012 ( I did a review then but for some reason it did not go on?) But this place deserves a review so here goes. From the moment we were met at reception to the moment we left I felt that I was in Paradise. The staff, without exception really went overboard in ensuring that our stay was comfortable and perfect. We had a few days of high winds as a tropical cyclone swept past the island but this did not impact upon the feeling of being in Paradise. It is located on the south coast of the island with direct access to the beach which is overlooked by the beach bar and a great place to relax and enjoy the sun and surf. We hired a taxi driver for the day to take us to places we wanted to see, It cost around £50.00, he included a trip to a Hindu shrine high in the mountains as he thought we would enjoy it and he was so right. We had an all inclusive package booked through Co-op travel and they really found us a gem of a place. The main restaurant is a buffet style but there are a number of locations where chefs stand and cook meats and fish to your order. The review by Liam H is bang on the money and I fully endorse his view, so I am not going to repeat it in essence, I am in my 50's and had an amazing time, you will not be disapointed there is something here for everyone

A group of us travelled to Mauritius to participate in the Mauritius Ocean Ski Classic and all experienced perfection from arrival to departure.
Firstly the resort. The room, the staff, the food, the pools, the gardens and the activities are just excellent. Our beachfront room was immaculate with housekeeping taking a great deal of care everyday. We used most of the facilities including the gym, which is well equipped, the tennis courts and the day spa all of which exceeded our expectations. Reception staff were always friendly and helpful. They dealt with all enquiries promptly and efficiently. As we were on an 'all inclusive' package it made the holiday unbelievably great value. I highly recommend the Tamassa Hotel, high quality without being pretentious and will definitely be heading back next year. I also recommend a catamaran cruise booked through The Boathouse, a wonderfully relaxing day.
The Mauritius Ocean Ski Classic is without doubt the best event we have attended and if you paddle ocean skis at any level you have to put this one in your diary. Dominic, Travis and the Boathouse crew were absolutely superb. With almost 100 paddlers vying for their attention the event ran smoothly and professionally all week. Perfect location, fantastic event!!

We are a young couple (late 20's) who stayed at the Tamassa hotel for 10 days and cannot fault the service we received.

The hotel is well staffed (you could even say over staffed?) Every member went out of their way to offer a perfect stay; by making sure we were aware of all the water activities on that day at the boat house, the entertainment that was available around the pool, to making sure we always had a full drink by our side whether we were sat at the pool, beach or bar.

The B-Bar staff gave the personal touch by knowing what kind of drinks we liked and brought them to us without being prompted from ourselves. We were spoilt for choice with the range of cocktails to choose from in the all inclusive menu. Our star bar tender Vissen Seerputtee was still able to come up with some special drinks which turned in to our favourites! Satish and Kevin also need a special mention from the B-Bar, for making us 'one last drink' a few times each night!!

The food at the Show Buffet restaurant was faultless. There was a huge selection of food on each themed night, all clearly labelled for all dietary requirements. If you still couldn't find something you wanted to eat the chefs were keen to make you your own tailored dish from fish and chips to a 7 course Indian feast! Special thanks go to Wahed Mohamad who also gave us a private Creole cookery lesson. Our favourite waitress at Show was Pooja who was always polite and helpful. If you don't fancy buffet there is the Playa a la carte restaurant for lunch and evenings.

Amy at the reception was very helpful, remembering our room number better than us! She arranged packed lunches when we went on day trips and ensured our taxis were arranged too.

The hotel had all the amenities you would expect including free wifi hotspots, great for our iPhones (FaceTime/ iMessage) contacting home didn't cost us a penny. There is also a free phone box we could have used each day to call any where we needed.
The three pools were kept in perfect condition with plenty of seating. The spa was a perfect quiet hideaway and the beach was beautiful. There was plenty of sporting activities available to keep us occupied. The rooms were modern with a good air conditioning system controlled by each room.

General Advice - Towels are only changed if they are left in the bath and there is a bizarre cushion in the bathroom which must be placed on the bed if you wish the sheets to be changed.
There are adequate facilities for late flights allowing you to freshen up before leaving. Meaning you can continue your last day of activities as any other day.
Be aware you will be asked to sign for every drink/ meal you have, even though they are part of the all inclusive package which stops promptly at midnight! So make sure any drinks ordered in the nightclub are before midnight or expect a bill at the end of your stay.
Tips aren't expected on a daily basis, or individually, but can be done. There is a gratuity box on the reception which is shared with the staff also behind the scenes if you prefer.

Nitesh Pandey, General Manager, was great with us. He knew who we were and remembered us every time we spoke even brining up previous days conversations. He even printed our boarding passes on our last day (thanks).

Overall the hotel is beautiful and the staff friendlier. We loved our visit will definitely recommend to all friends and family, we hope to re-visit one day.

Room Tip: We recommend a second floor room as they have a private staircase direct to your room which makes it...

Stayed at Tamassa from 18th June to 24th June 2013 -"All inclusive package"

Perfect choice for honeymoon. Booked the hotel based on self search and never once regretted the decision. Its the best place to stay in south mauritius especially if some one is looking for All inclusive package. Stayed in Superior room and the rooms are well spacious. The staff at hotel are very friendly.Service across restauranst were great.

Good range of menu both food and drinks in "All inclusive package"

Too bad our stay was only for a week.

Improvements that can be made: Can provide much more amenities such as bath amenities in the room.

Staff are attentive to every request and provided excellent service. So i would like to thank some of the Tamassa hotel staff who made our Honeymoon very memorable.

Yanesh-- Manager(i guess) (At Reception) - For attending our requests and providing valuable suggestions to make our stay even better
Devianne(Playa Restaurant) - For excellent service
Roshan(Show Restaurant) - For providing superb service through out stay and helping us get lunch on our first day even though we were late after the lunch hours
Hemalatha - For giving us a warm welcome on our arrival

After a long and tiring flight finally arriving at Tamassa Resort Bel Ombre, to be greated by Rhajt (customer relations) and a cooling drink and hot towel.
Unfortunately, the check in time is 2pm and we arrived at 11.30am (local time), so was not thrilled at having to wait 21/2 hours for room to be ready when all we wanted was a shower and a couple hours sleep.
Anyway, finally being shown to our room (see pictures).
ACCOMMODATION
Room very spacious with large double bed, flat screen TV, ceiling fan and air con. Tea/coffee making facilities and a fridge (see picture) which is restocked daily (free of charge or included in the cost of your holiday whichever way you want to look at it).
Large walk-in shower, corner bath and TWO sinks. Separate toilet.
Room cleaned on a daily basis and towels refreshed and changed. Shower gel and shampoo also provided and replenished when empty (again no charge).
FACILITIES
Buffet restaurant - different themed nights. All main meals can be eaten here - breakfast, lunch and dinner.
Beach restaurant - Al a Carte - this restaurant is located down at the beach and is exceptional. Three course meal at no extra charge. There is no limit as to the amount of times you can eat here and the food is absolutely wonderful. You can also eat here in the evening but you have to book a table the day before. For mid-day you just turn up and wait for a table.
BBAR
This is the main bar of the resort and is also where the evening entertainment is held. The staff here are great and nothing is too much trouble. Satish, Kevin and Vissen made a great impression.
BEACH BAR
Again, this is located on the beach and next to the Al a Carte restaurant. Derek and Runga again could not do enough for you.

There are the usual water sports facilities available, but we did not use them. There are 3 pools dotted around the resort so no over-crowding.

At reception there is a "red phone box" of which you can use to phone home daily if you wish, for 5 minutes free charge. Where else could you get that kind of service. (see photo).

At the weekends various resorts (Tamassa included) bus in the elderly mauritians who are given full use of the facilities for the day and also given a meal. They did not interfere with our holiday whatsoever.

The gardens at the resort are well cared for and make for a wonderful setting. If you are looking for a peaceful, relaxing environment for a lazy holiday then Tamassa is the place. You can do as much or a little as you wish.

Check out time is 11am but you can ask for an extension at reception should you need it depending on your departure pick up time.

This was a our first trip to Tamassa Resort Bel Ombre and would recommend this resort. The staff are so friendly and helpful and nothing is too much trouble for them, Just ask and they will do everything in their power to accommodate your request.
