“Awesome 10 Nights Family Vacation”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed today NEW

I was initially concerned having read some of the negative reviews for this resort on Trip advisor. Thankfully I was pleasantly surprised and the Reviews were grossly incorrect. The Resort is exquisite, the Service levels are 5 Star, Rooms are Clean, well laid out and tastefully furnished. We enjoyed all the facilities and found that we had received exceptional value for Money. The Food and choices that are offered can satisfy almost any palette. thank you to the Staff and management of the Outrigger Mauritius..well done. the Moodley Family

Room Tip: All the Rooms are excellent with Great Sea Views

The Outrigger has a very healthy reputation in Mauritius as a destination of choice for travelers and locals; as our first stay at Outrigger I now know why.

We were a group of 4 adults and 2 toddlers and we requested adjoining rooms prior to booking.

The team at Outrigger went one step further and upgraded us from 2 suites to a Villa, and these villas were beautiful. Proximity to the beach, secluded from the rest of the hotel, beautiful furnishings, an area for the children to sleep and spacious enough for everyone to have the occasional private time. On an island where beach and ocean views rarely disappoint, there was wow factor.

We stayed half board so breakfast and dinner was included and every meal we had was amazing.

Themed dinners each night meant a mixture of Indian, Chinese, beef, seafood, dim sum, stews, paellas....the list could go on. There was even a dedicated supervised area for all the children to eat if you wanted to. It was fun watching children who didn't know each other having play dates with each other.

Breakfast was equally polished with some gorgeous weather as your view to kick off the day. Choices of made to order and traditional breakfasts were all on offer, as well as an oriental breakfast, pastries, cold meats, sweets et al. A great way to start the day.

The pool choices were plenty, the kids pool with the slide was very popular, but there was an adults area available as well.

Whether you choose to sit by the pool or the beach, or the ocean, service was prompt if you just wanted to relax all day long.

For a more active day, water sports were also available; we didn't do them ourselves, but we spoke to many who enjoyed the water skiing amongst other activities.

Our kids got to do a pizza making activity one day for lunch, even though they weren't part of the kids club. There were other activities which we didn't partake in, but there was learning Creole, flag making, sega dancing...

We checked out at noon on Sunday and the whole process was done in less than 5 minutes. Too easy, but it was sad to go. We had lovely weather the whole time despite forecasts looking very gloomy; April/May is a great time to visit because it's not too hot, not too cold.

So for a 2 night long weekend everyone left very satisfied and very tired!

Some areas to improve would be the in-house TV/on demand entertainment; the choices were quite limited. It didn't really bother us because we were quite busy, but someone looking for high quality in house TV/DVD/movie entertainment might be disappointed.

Wi-fi was very good compared to other hotels around Mauritius.

The other downside was the shower in our room the first two times didn't have hot water; we needed a maintenance team to come and fix. This was inconvenient because my wife and two kids had to shower/bath I cold water the first evening we were there. The bathroom was prone to gentle flooding; but I showered in the enclosed outdoor shower garden so I wasn't fussed.

Will definitely be back, and is highly recommended to anyone coming to mauritius; the south is a beautiful secluded area of the island and you will enjoy your time here immensely. Congratulations to all!

We spent a week at the Outrigger in Mauritius. The resort is truly wonderful. The room was stunning, looking straight onto the beach, and very comfortable. Overall the resort is beautifully laid out and you never have a sense of being overcrowded. There are three good pools and great beach frontage. The staff are amazing. I would recommend upgradng to the Plantation club rooms especially if you are a couple without children. This was the perfect place to laze away the time.

Having stayed on the east coast I decided to see what the South had to offer and was delighted with my choice of Outrigger Mauritius. Beautiful well laid out resort with some excellent dining choices and absolutely loved the beachfront bar and Edgewater restaurant on the beach. Highly recommend trying Rum & Crab Shack. Unfortunately it was only an overnight stay however the rooms were very comfortable - recommend getting a beachfront room as the beach is only steps away with your own safe rock pools to enjoy whilst watching the big surf about a mile out further. Loved the food choices and particularly Mecado which offered an amazing choice on the buffet with Asian, Indian & Italian food stations.

We had a very nice time there. Good location, good food, great staff. Heated pool was the best. Great varieties of restaurants for dinner. Spa need refreshing. Small garden pool nice. A little windy. Breakfast buffet very good but cook for eggs to be quicker

Room Tip: Great seaview from room

I have just returned from the Outrigger Beach Resort, having spent a week there with my eldest daughter.
Before we went I was concerned by some of the reviews I had seen on tripadvisor. How wrong can be people be?
This is a lovely hotel, set in a wonderful location with staff that are attentive and friendly. The bedrooms were clean and bright, well air conditioned and the beds very comfortable. Yes some of the service was laid back, but we were enjoying a little bit of paradise in the Indian Ocean and this more relaxed atmosphere only added to our enjoyment.
The food was of a very high standard, lots of choice, different locations to try and plenty of staff on hand to take your orders.
The Plantation Club deserves a special mention, it is a calm and peaceful place, especially for breakfast or afternoon tea.
Another special mention to Kishan, Jeffery and Sangi who were the friendliest of bar staff, they made a great trio!
I am glad I was on an all inclusive package, restaurant food in Mauritius is pricey so unless you have unlimited funds, this is the best option.

I have come home relaxed, chilled and with a very special memory of a great holiday,

Room Tip: Staying on the first floor gives you a clearer sea view.

We spent a lovely time at Outrigger. We booked 2 rooms which were of high standard and spacious. We had beachfront rooms private scenic relaxed pool. The hotel has beautiful gardens and pools. The Plantation club is just fantastically fantastic, well designed. The staff are jovial, esp. Miss Jeebun and her colleagues special thanks to her as well as the chefs and the waiters. The dining was perfect.

Highly recommended. :)
