We spent two nights there as the only guests. Wow. Our experience was suburb. I wish we stayed there longer. John and Duma (driver and guide) were incredible. They knew so much, shared so much, and could find so much. The conservancy where the Camp is located is great. We entered it and almost instantly it was like the opening scene of Lion King. First the Zebra, then a giraffe steps out in front of us. All sorts of animals in the field. While there is no way to predict what you can see, We saw so much in the first day. Four of the big five (no leopard). There were elephants right across the river that we watched as we were eating lunch that day. I had my first, but not last, Tusker beer there as we watched the elephants that first day. Amazing! It was just as great the next two days. You can just stay here for days and it would be all you need for great, once in lifetime, East African experience.
The place is really well run. Tents are in really good shape and relatively far apart compared to the other three camps we visited. Food was very good and plentiful (you can go up for seconds) and drinks were included. Easy to charge you electronic stuff here. Comfortable bed. Hot water for shower is delivered and they need to be short, but there is an adequate amount for two quick ones. No lingering and spacing out.
The trips to see rhinos and chimps in there respective refuges are also essential. The people who work there as very committed to the animals and you will have a very special experience in both because of their relationship with the staff at the Ol' Pejeta Bush camp.
We found, in general, that being in a well run conservancy, such as Ol Pejeta, is in may ways better than the parks. Here it is was especially true. The staff could go off road to to where they knew wild life often gather or rest. They knew their area, the flora and fauna, and were just a lot of fun. This was all around the best experience we had in our two weeks in Africa and Tanzania, maybe it was because it was our first camp, maybe because we were lucky to see so much, but I know the staff and facilities at Ol Pejeta made it all happen.
