“Great, magical, wonderful staff- Must stay here”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed January 2, 2014

We spent two nights there as the only guests. Wow. Our experience was suburb. I wish we stayed there longer. John and Duma (driver and guide) were incredible. They knew so much, shared so much, and could find so much. The conservancy where the Camp is located is great. We entered it and almost instantly it was like the opening scene of Lion King. First the Zebra, then a giraffe steps out in front of us. All sorts of animals in the field. While there is no way to predict what you can see, We saw so much in the first day. Four of the big five (no leopard). There were elephants right across the river that we watched as we were eating lunch that day. I had my first, but not last, Tusker beer there as we watched the elephants that first day. Amazing! It was just as great the next two days. You can just stay here for days and it would be all you need for great, once in lifetime, East African experience.

The place is really well run. Tents are in really good shape and relatively far apart compared to the other three camps we visited. Food was very good and plentiful (you can go up for seconds) and drinks were included. Easy to charge you electronic stuff here. Comfortable bed. Hot water for shower is delivered and they need to be short, but there is an adequate amount for two quick ones. No lingering and spacing out.

The trips to see rhinos and chimps in there respective refuges are also essential. The people who work there as very committed to the animals and you will have a very special experience in both because of their relationship with the staff at the Ol' Pejeta Bush camp.

We found, in general, that being in a well run conservancy, such as Ol Pejeta, is in may ways better than the parks. Here it is was especially true. The staff could go off road to to where they knew wild life often gather or rest. They knew their area, the flora and fauna, and were just a lot of fun. This was all around the best experience we had in our two weeks in Africa and Tanzania, maybe it was because it was our first camp, maybe because we were lucky to see so much, but I know the staff and facilities at Ol Pejeta made it all happen.

Room Tip: Don't worry. No bad tents as far as we can see

We had a family gate away to Ol Opejeta Bush Camp located at Ol Pejeta conservancy, Laikipia, My wife, I and 3 children aged 11yrs and 3yrs. The experience was great. The tents are unique, spacious, warm and has all the basic accomodation requirements to our surprise. Breakfast, lunch and dinner is served at the camp. The evening camp fire is fun and we had a chance of watching the Ewaso Nyiro River swell up from the rains at the Abadare Mountains.
The wild life experience was exceptional, had a very close encounter with lions, elephants, Buffalos, Rhinos, name the big fives and they are all there.
The game drive programs organised by Bush camp management was great. Alex Hunter runs the Bush Camp and resides there! He provides a personal touch to all guest requirements.
It is definitely a place worth staying at.

The Ol Pejeta conservancy is a gem of a park and closest place to Nairobi where you can see all the big five. The Ol Pejeta Bush Camp is right in the bush and helps you experience the park close up. The staff are happy to share their wildlife experience with you and help you identify bird and animal calls. Letatu is a wonderful guide who speaks not a word of English and can barely understand the language but who cares. On our first game drive he guided us right up to a couple of lionesses with five 10 week old cubs who came almost right up to our car to check us out.
Alex and Murray are wonderful hosts and immensely knowledgeable about both Kenyan wildlife as well as the Laikipia region.
Seeming to own the place almost as much, were Russell and Bromley the resident buffaloes who add immensely to the charm of staying in the bush camp. The tents are spacious and clean. We loved the bush shower where the overhead tank is filled just before your bath, by a couple of staff members who climb the ladder to the tank with buckets of warm water.

Wonderful camp only 3 hours from Nairobi. Alex Hunter and his staff provide the old bush camp charm and hospitality. Our daughters 6 and 2 years were well looked after and are already asking when they can go back.the two resident buffalo Russell and Bromley only add to the atmosphere , whilye the meals and accommodation were home away from home comfort.
Game viewing in Ol Pejeta is quite special ; apart from the cats , elephants ,; several rare species of rhino and wild dog packs are resident.
We looking forward to our next visit AR.

Ol Pejeta Bush Camp was our first stop on a three week safari throughout Kenya and Tazania. We spent 3 nights here and could have stayed 3 weeks. The setting, the food and the service by all staff was outstanding. As a bonus the game drives lead by our guide Duma was truly magnificent. My wife and i loved it.

Room Tip: Try it out, you wont regret it as both Alex and Murray will ensure you are warmly welcomed.

We spent 4 nights at Ol Pejeta Bush Camp in October 2013 and cannot speak too highly of how Alex and his team worked to make our stay the best ever. Comfortable tent, hot showers as requested, most interesting lively conversation around bush fires and candle-lit dinners. Tents overlooking the river with visiting elephants and hippo, and beautiful birdlife. Fantastic game drives with Duma - so knowledgeable and passionate about the wonderful wild life. A trip which will never be forgotten.

3 hours drive from Nairobi is bush camp on the ol pejeta conservancy. Lovely tents with the real bush experience. Russel the resident buffalo visited us at night....adding to the highlights. We saw wild dogs with 18 pups, elephant, rhino, and lions late evening with game friendly night spotlight on return from evening game drive. Highly recoomend this as weekend away from Nairobi or en route to samburu/ meru parks. Hospitality amazing - makes you feel like the camp is your home. The kids loved it...we loved it and will definitely go back.
