“Comfortable Stay in Perfect Location”
4 of 5 stars Reviewed April 5, 2010

Springdale is a picturesque little place and the Pioneer Lodge is centrally located with beautiful background views of the red cliffs. The accommodation was very comfortable and breakfast in the restaurant was enjoyable. The on-site internet cafe also offers snacks. Due to late arrival in the evening, we dined at the Pizza & Pasta pub-style restaurant next door, which surprisingly offered 12 beers on-tap. Zion Canyon scenic drive is a very short drive away. This is an excellent place to stay when touring the canyons.

We stayed here for three nights during what is probably low season for Zion. The staff were very friendly, the facility was clean and just right for what we needed. The location was perfect: just a short distance from the park entrance and conveniently located in Springdale so we could walk to several restaurants and shops. I can see how parking may be a bit tight when the lodge is at capacity, but we were able to park when we were finished at the park and walk anywhere we needed to go in the town. Definitely plan to hit Oscar's Cafe for breakfast and the Springdale Candy Co. for dessert -- buy something handmade out of the glass case for a REAL treat.

We spent one night in this lodge, the room was nice and clean. The view wasn't too impressive, especially as people walk past your window, so you need to close the curtains at some point. It's very convenient for trips into Zion park, the park shuttle buses stop near the hotel.

We had lunch and dinner in the restaurant which belongs to the lodge, and enjoyed the food a lot. There's also a little cafe downstairs where you can have a snack and use the internet for a few Dollars.

We would definitely stay here again.

I booked this Hotel on the reviews from Trip Advisor. This was our first time to Springdale, UT and Zion National Park. We loved this Hotel. We had a king bed on the ground floor. The bed was so comfortable and the room so clean we could not beleive it. The ladies at the front desk were more than kind and helpful. The coffee at the coffee bar in the lobby was good as were their cookies. We drove and walked around Springdale and just could not beleive our find. The the previous reveiw saidi that driving by this Hotel that it would not jump out at you which is true...but once we stayed there we were so happy we had went with this hotel.
There is a beautiful view from this Hotel as in most of Springdale. We had dinner at the Pizza Noodle, it was good pizza and they have 12 Micro Brews to choose from...awesome. It is a friendly town...nice people. Happy, Happy, Happy

We had a clean, cozy, "wooden-style" room in the historic pioneer lodge motel.
The room had a kitchnette, frigdge and everything you needed.
There was a laundry downstairs which we used.
There was a swimming pool and a whirl pool outside (which we did not use), but other people seemed to enjoy it.
The motel is located only ca 5 minutes apart from the entrance to Zion NP, so it´s a great spot if you want to explore Zion.
We really enjoyed staying there.

This place is near the entrance to Zion and there is a decent restaurant on site. I found it online - they had a mid-week special and our room was around $59. It was quiet, clean and near Zion which was all I wanted. They gave a coupon for food, but it wasn't redeemable to the Pioneer Restaurant! I guess it is only for the cafe. My only complaint is that the sheets were cheap and made me itch. Luckily, I had my own flannel sheets in the car so I used that at night. So for $59 a night don't expect am immaculate place. It is good for seeing the park and sleeping!

The room has log style furniture, better lighting and electrical than most, granite and tile bath area, fridge, microwave, and in room coffee. Our room faces east, towards Zion and has a fine view. What's not to like?

We reserved a room with a king bed. Although we arrived at 2:45, early enough to receive some flack for an early arrival, we were given a room with one small bed... bigger than a twin, but not a queen. Too small for us in any event. The hotel initially refused to change it, until we went back a second time, prepared to leave, and asked for our money back. We were informed that it was because we had booked on-line. We should have somehow known to call. Now some hotels advertise their on-line rooms as "king or two queens," or "rack room," or "king or queen". But this one did not. We reserved a king, no ambiguity about it. They didn't even say anything, just gave us the room and hoped we'd stay quiet. We eventually got a room with two of the small beds, but what a hassle!

Things in the room were nice until the neighbors arrived. We can hear their every whisper. Not fun.

The parking lot is very cramped and spaces are the narrowest I have seen in the U.S., smaller than most "compact car" spots. There is almost no room to back out or turn around in some parts of the lot.

The hotel is situated next to an elk farm. There were mild barnyard odors present.

Finally, their internet service has aggressive blocking. I can't even upload my Zion Park photos to my own Smugmug account because they have Smugmug blocked. How insulting and annoying, as if I need a nanny.

Next the restaurant. Food is of acceptable quality, presented artlessly. Price point is moderate. The Prime Rib Special is priced at $20.99 (available Fridays and Saturdays) and includes a lackluster salad bar, choice of potato, and overcooked vegetables. The portions are generous. My portion was ordered medium, and arrived medium well to well done, somewhat dry. It was served with an au jus and also a horseradish sour cream in disposable plastic cups. The restaurant decor is plain, and furnishings are low end. We were given a 10% off coupon on check-in, but the server failed to deduct the amount, even though we had advised her of the coupon and she had acknowledged it. The server was overly loud and brash. Overall, I did not feel the ambiance or food quality justified the price point.

To be clear, the espresso coffee bar is a separate establishment in the hotel lobby, and we have not yet tried it. It looks good, with plush leather seating and a fire in the fireplace.

On the whole, I can't call this choice a disaster, but I would not stay or eat here again. there are too many other nice choices in the area.
