“Love Desert Pearl”

This has been my second time staying at the Pearl. First was riverside second time was poolside. I like the poolside better. Amazing staff. Beautiful rooms!!! Great space as well. There is nothing I can or would complain about. You can walk to everything you need it town!!!

Room Tip: Bottom floor poolside is great for a family! Sit on our patio and have a glass of wine or 2!

This was our 5th or 6th visit to Zion National Park, but our first visit to the Desert Pearl Inn (DPI). It will not be our last! My wife, adult daughter and I spent 2013 spring break in Southwest Utah this year, and our first stop was Zion. After carefully studying Trip Advisor, we chose the DPI. We have stayed at several different places through the years in Zion and Springdale, most recently the Best Western Zion Park Inn, and the Zion Park Lodge inside the park. None of our previous lodgings compare with the DPI - at least not to the room we had this visit. Due to the fact that we were three adults with a lot of gear, we wanted extra space. Although the DPI did not have a two bedroom suite, they did offer a one bedroom suite with two large baths, which we chose. We were assigned Room 601, a 1000 square foot suite. We stayed three nights. The rate for the first two nights was $245.91 per night including 12.8% tax. My only complaint about the DPI was the exorbitant rate for the third night (Thursday night before Easter Sunday) of $386.91 including tax, but they would not budge on the rate, calling it part of a holiday weekend.

Despite the extremely high third night rate, we loved the room. The bathrooms are huge - both of them. They were both tiled floor-to-ceiling in travertine marble with huge shower stalls. The master bath was a little larger, with a toilet, bidet and a tub as well. The master bath also had a dressing area with a second sink separate from the bathroom itself. Although we didn't test them, I think both bathrooms had electrically heated floors. The bedroom was very roomy with a hardwood floor, a comfortable king bed and a flat screen TV which we never turned on. It had a glass door leading to the large covered porch area, as did the living room.

The hardwood floored living room was also large, with another flat screen TV, a glass door to the porch, several easy chairs and a nice desk area behind the pull-out sofa. The living room and full kitchen were one big room separated by a small island bar. There was also a dining table with 4 chairs in the kitchen area. Our daughter slept in the living room on a blow-up queen sized bed we brought with us. It was deemed more comfortable than the pull-out sofa-bed.

The back doors led to a stamped concrete floored porch (covered)overlooking the back lawn and the Virgin River. The river was lined with large cottonwood trees that were leaf-bare in late March, but I'm sure are spectacular with their golden plumage in the fall. The west wall of the Watchman, which is a large red sandstone icon rising 6545 feet above sea level overlooking Zion Canyon from the south, looms in the background, clearly visible from the porch and back yard. The neatly mowed grass backyard is shared with other rooms in the same building. It is about 25 feet wide, separating the rooms from the river's edge. We watched kids staying in the room next door kicking a soccer ball in the lawn one evening until they accidentally kicked the ball into the river and watched it float away.... Every night there, we enjoyed sipping wine or cocktails on the porch while watching the sun set on the Watchman, after a full day of hiking in Zion.

I did not look at any of the other rooms at the DPI, but Room 601 was great! We parked right outside our door, so loading and unloading was easy. There is a small gift shop attached to the hotel, but no restaurant. They have a nice pool, but we never even looked at it. I doubt if it was open (it was still near freezing at night), but don't know for sure. We really liked this place, and hope to return soon.

Room Tip: The Suites on the river are great!

A large stylish room with everything we need, a large bed, sofa, dining table, kitchenette with dish washer, working desk and a nice balcony to the swimming pool. We heard the traffic, rooms to the river will be more quiet. Everything was very clean. We stayed here three nights and enjoyed it very much! A perfect location to the Zion NP.

The Desert Pearl has rooms of the highest standards, from the quality of furnishings to the standard of cleanliness. With rooms either overlooking the Virgin River and Zion or the lovely pool there is something for everyone. The pool has good quality modern loungers and although near the road, is completely screened by fencing covered with honeysuckle (on which you are likely to see hummingbirds feeding when in flower) and gets very little road noise. There is no noise between rooms but I don't know if you can hear people in rooms above as we've always been on the top floor. Front desk staff are all very friendly and helpful. We were able to use a computer in reception from which we could print our boarding passes at no charge. Only slight issues are the wifi connection isn't particularly easy to use and there are no on-site breakfast facilities (although in our room we did have a grill, small dishwasher, microwave and fridge so could have done a basic breakfast for ourselves). There are plenty of places in Springdale to have a good breakfast (The Historic Pioneer Lodge or Wildcat Willies are two we tried both within walking distance of the hotel).

Room Tip: If you want sun on the room's deck in the afternoon/evening choose a pool view. In the hotter su...

The Desert Pearl imparts a feeling of serenity: the outside reminded me of a Japanese inn, and the rooms of a spa. The floors are hardwood, with white cotton scattered rugs; beautiful shades to pull up or down over a wall of window and glass door, classy decor with clean, modern lines. The room itself (we had a king), with the addition of a cooking range, could serve as a fairly decent-sized studio apartment: besides the bed there was a sofa, desk, table and chairs, kitchenette minus only a cooking range, but including a dishwasher, nice dishes, and kitchen supplies, plus a beautiful bathroom that included a bidet. It was a treat to stay there. The staff was all friendly and accomodating, and the grounds and room were all immaculate. There were tables and chairs on the patio, which we used for eating outdoors. We had a poolside room, which was so close to the pool it could have been in our backyard but still had a nice view of the mountains. However, for the best view, I would try to get a riverside room on the 2nd floor, where it's all river, grass, and mountain - beautiful!

As far as location is concerned, the shuttle bus to Zion stops in front of the hotel, and a bit down the road going away from the park are stores and restaurants and a super market that probably could take care of most needs that might arise.

Had a great stay at the Desert Pearl Inn. Had a room facing the Virgin River and unbelievable view! Room was spacious, clean and pleasant. Only complaint: second shift/afternoon folks not so friendly or helpful. Ignore them and enjoy quiet solitude in beautiful location.

Nice big twin room, with a good level of facilities, overlooking the green grounds and close to the very nice, and welcome, pool. I had no issues at all with this hotel and it was in a perfect central location, close to shops, restaurants and local transport connections to the Zion NP. Beautiful views out to the surrounding canyon, lovely to see the sun setting against the red rock (I'm getting all poetic now!).

Very nicely laid out bathroom with very good towels, toiletries and a good shower.

Arrived in the middle of our hiking trip so the laundry facility was particularly well received; cheap convenient and quick. Had a change machine to break the bills, and powder, washers and dryers - all you could want. Got all my washing done in a couple of hours, ironed it in the room while relaxing in front of the telly, all ready for the second week of the holiday!

All told, couldn't be beaten.

Room Tip: They all had nice little seating areas outside, but perhaps a little further from the pool would be...
