“Love Cliffrose!”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed January 5, 2012

I'm not one to leave reviews on websites or about hotels, but I had to finally leave one for Cliffrose. This hotel has become one of our top places to stay. I travel A LOT (like 60% of the year) for business and stay at many 5 and 4 star hotels along the way, which I find very sterile, cold, and plain snooty. Cliffrose, by far, is my FAVORITE retreat, it has a great vibe to it, warm, friendly, and feels like family. We have been coming here for 6 years (going on 7), with a total of 8 stays, and every year when vacation discussions roll around, Cliffrose comes to the top of our list. The staff is super friendly, and makes you feel welcomed there. If there is something you need they are on it right away, and actually get back to you. The rooms are great, with beautiful views of Zion and their gardens, and since they upgraded everything it's even better. The beds are very comfortable, or that could just be from the long days of hiking, and the bathrooms are always very clean without the strong chemical smell you get with other hotels. The hotel is located in a prime location for Zion National Park and accessing Springdale downtown. We typically park our rental car and walk the entire time we are there. It is a great base for day trip to North Rim GC and Bryce NP. Our longest stay has been 12 days, and it was the BEST experience ever. And two years ago we even brought our family with us (both sets of parents!) We will definitely be back... year after year!

Room Tip: Every room we have ever stayed in has been great! Breakfast facing the Watchman is a must!

A great place to stay. Huge suites (we had a 2-bedroom unit with a living room, kitchen, etc...), clean and comfy. Helpful, friendly staff. Frankly, a lovely place, great value for money (we were coming from the Encore in Vegas and on our way to the Sorrel River Ranch in Moab). Highly recommended. And Zion National Park is beautiful, great hikes... Enjoy!

Do NOT stay anywhere else if you are going to Zion National Park!! This place is wonderful! The rooms are very clean, they just did a remodel and they are so nice. The grounds are beautiful, they are constantly working on the flowers. There is a cute little playground for kids to play on. We do the Garden rooms and like the ground level and bring a little hibachi grill and grill dinner every night. The staff is wonderful, very friendly. You are within walking distance of the visitor center where you can get on the shuttle and go through the park. The pool and hot tub are great.

Room Tip: Garden rooms on the ground level are very good if you want to BBQ.

This hotel is great for the price. The bathroom is small but clean. The heater is a bit loud but for a small chain hotel it was newly remodeled. The grounds are very nice and a walk away from the Zion visitors center. Zion is quite cold during November, so dress appropriately. We also drove to Bryce canyon from there. It was took us about 2 hours and we forgot to account from the time change (coming from vegas), so we had limited time in Bryce. I do wish we stayed a little longer to experience both parks (bryce and zion).

Beautiful view and grounds, although we stayed too late in the season (mid-November) to take advantage of them. Large room with two queen beds (softer than I’m accustomed to but comfortable), good control of the room temperature, good plumbing, coffee pot, hair dryer. Large flatscreen TV hooked to DirectTV – networks are all in 4:3 SD so you may need to adjust the aspect ratio to your liking. Bathroom sink in view of beds, so difficult not to disturb companion, but shower and toilet are private.

Free coffee in the lobby (and the rooms) and a convenient coffee shop, Cafe Soleil, next door (with many “to go” breakfast choices). There are only two places to smoke, at the outside fire pits, and the closest was a few hundred feet from our room. My wife almost got trampled by a deer on one of her evening smoking forays.

Since I do most of my travel on business, I always rate the internet connections. However, I doubt much business is done from this lovely location. But here goes. The free wireless connection was straightforward the first night, although some of our devices (laptop, iPad, iPod, and iPhone all worked) had to be logged in again with name/password after awakening from a sleep. It was very difficult to get a connection the next day, which we finally decided was a network problem when none of our devices would connect. It recovered later in the afternoon. Speed varied, sometimes grinding to a complete halt. My speed test gave 150 ms ping lag, 0.76 Mbps download, and then couldn’t complete the upload test (lost the connection during the test). Ten minutes later I got 322ms, 0.26 up and 0.02 down. Then 394 ms, 0.393 down and 0.236 up. Lost connection completely in the afternoon (for entire lodge); front desk apologized and connection was back in the evening.

Both persons at the front desk were friendly, knowledgeable, and helpful.

Room Tip: Rooms in back have a nice view of the grounds and cliffs.

The room and setting were really nice and comfortable. We were in room 124 and our only realy complaint was the noise from the unit above us. You could hear every step, luggage being rolled in, etc... We couldn't hear their TV (if it was on) or any voices, but with the nicely done remodel there was no sound proofing done between floors. Shutters between the bathroom and the main living area didn't provide any privacy for the bathroom user either - but that's not such a big deal. Location to the park was great - Cafe Soleil next door was a great breakfast too. I would stay again but request a 2nd floor room next time.

Room Tip: 2nd floor? Or a unit with no one above you.

We had some trouble with our original hotel. Luckily we still found a room at the Cliffrose. Even though it was Thanksgiving evening they took good care of us and ensured we had a great stay. The rooms as well as the other facilities (pool, Jacuzzi, garden) were really nice and created a quite relaxing atmosphere. Also it is just the perfect place to stay when visiting Zion National Park. I would stay there again in a heart beat!!!
