“What a find!!!”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed September 25, 2013

Who would think that in the midst of all the barbeque and burger joints we would find a place that served imaginative, very fresh food, at a reasonable price, and in a beautiful setting. We saw this place as we drove into town, it was crowded and looked good, and we were VERY happy we chose it. We highly recommend it.

“Superb, creative food”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed September 25, 2013

Every item as good as the next. Wide variety on the menu, most with a unique twist. We tried four things...favorites were pork tenderloin with apple, fennel sauce and the beet, walnut salad. Our primary waiter was a clunker...not knowledgable and quite brusque but we had others participate in service that were good. Plus the food itself was good enough to still get a 5 even with him. Comfortable pleasant ambiance.

Excellent food, service, locally brewed beer in a lovely dining setting. Husband arranged cake dessert with candle. Sweet.

“Dinner at the Spotted Dog”
3 of 5 stars Reviewed September 22, 2013

My husband enjoyed his salad with smoked trout; my trout entree was overdone and not enjoyable. It was a busy night and we did not have the best of service. Our server did not come back till we were nearly finished, fortunately we flagged down the busboy for extra lemon and water.

“Somewhat overrated”
3 of 5 stars Reviewed September 21, 2013

Went to the Spotted Dog for dinner while spending three days in Zion / Springdale Utah. We were told over the phone we might have to wait 30 minutes (at 8:00), but were pleasantly surprised we were seated right away when we arrived 10 minutes later - in fact, there were a few empty tables when seated.

We generally prefer sitting in more cozy rooms than the main dining room of the Spotted Dog. I guess because during the day you could look out the windows and see the wonderful views of Zion, but at night - no go.

The prices are a bit high, as everything is al a carte. Salad was Ok - fish good. Overall food was average. The service was excellent.

As I was writing this review, I read somewhere else about the 18% automatic tip charge. I hope not, because I do not remember the waitress mentioning it.

If you want a more elegant atmosphere and are willing to pay for it - this is the spot.
