“great spot with views”
4 of 5 stars Reviewed September 5, 2012

spend the first night here on a tramping trip, large big rooms which was nice with most of the second level rooms having a small deck which was perfect for a relax drink while watching the sunsets at night. Staff were ok, but only did there job. It is a little out of town (2 minute drive) but nice family spot and due to it been just out of town is good value

Room Tip: Get a room in the block that is back off the main road, the road is very busy for a few hours mornin...

Enjoyed staying here, large room, great view from the balcony and the pool. We flew in to Vegas, saw a show, and early the following day, went to Bryce and did some hiking, then drove to Majestic and stayed there 2 days to hike Zion before going back to Vegas. Good places to eat in Springdale include Oscar's and Cafe Soleil. Both are vegetarian and gluten free friendly and great service. Amigos was also a decent Texmex place. Walk out at night and see a lot of stars! Coming from Washington Dc, this was a special treat. Drive instead of taking the shuttle. Can park at Zion visitor center with no problem and can take shuttle from there. Can't emphasize enough the need for hard sole covered toe shoes and hiking poles for doing Zion Narrows. It made a world of difference. No need to rent poles, can buy them at Zion visitor center for 15 dollars and make a great souvenir.

This lodge is in a ideal spot for visiting to Bryce and Zion, which we loved!! What great parks.

The hotel is rustic, but clean and pleasant. The rooms are a nice size with balconies. The rooms have beautiful views of the mountains.

The staff were all very nice.

The food at the restaurant was very good and priced comparable to lesser quality in town.

This is one of the first hotels you reach in Sprindale before the Nation Park, so it's not srrounded by other buildings, only beautiful scenery; and that's the best thing about this hotel. The views are simply stunning.

Check-in was effecient, the rooms are clean and well appointed and large enough for a few nights stay. No problem with the Air Con. The pool is small but clean and tidy and you park directly outside your room. There's a nice gift shop which does not rip-you-off.

Avoid the resturant; service is poor and the food is over priced.

This place is an ideal base for exploring Zion - you can't go wrong staying here.

Rooms were spacious and very clean. The staff was friendly and helpful, giving directions and information about Zion National Park an the surrounding area. The pool was refreshing and the hot tub great, especially for the teens in our group (who made friends with other teens visiting from Belgium). The onsite brewery was a bonus-good beer on tap in the restaurant, which was also excellent, especially with the appetizers and salads our teenaged children devoured. The proximity to Zion is great--right across from a shuttle stop. We stayed for a couple of days on a family vacation--we all wish we had been able to stay for longer and are looking forward to returning.

Room Tip: If you don't need an elevator, ask for a room on the second floor--the views are tremendous

We had an excellent stay at the Majstic View Lodge. The room was great (fridge, balcony, nice view, airco not too loud). We got reduction for the gift shop (which was okay) and the resturant Arkansas Al's. Food is good and we had an excellent wine choice (J.Lohr Chardonnay 2004). But pay attention at the bill as they are adding automatically roughly 22% for Tip and Taxes on the normal prices. There is a free shuttle right in front of the hotel to visit a part of the Zion National Park, as this part is closed after 10 am for private traffic. The local museum in the hotel is nice. We didn't try the pool as it was full of Dutch tourists but it seemed to be good. We can really recommend this hotel.

We appreciate your review and are happy you enjoyed your stay with us. We lease the Restaurant to a separate company and will be happy to forward your comments directly to them. The Park Shuttle's have been a great addition to our Town. The only part of Zion National Park that is closed to private vehicles is The Scenic Drive. It is a seasonal closure from April 1- October 31. The Park Shuttle's are a great way to see and enjoy The Park during this busy season. I hope you will be able to visit us again. This was the most expensive lodging on our 3 week road trip & likely the most disappointing.

I read through pages of reviews here including bedbugs in the spring, but since it seemed to be resolved we were excited to stay here. Springdale has an abundance of nice places and we've stayed in two ot them, so we were anticipating a new experience in what looked to be a truly wonderful place.

Check in was okay; the two younger girls at the desk were okay but not very welcoming. We carried our luggage upstairs (no elevator but no problem for us) After admiring the moose motif and view from our balcony, we went back out to bring pizza back to the balcony. We first walked through the gift shoppe (pricier than most shoppes & didn't see even one clerk or any other shoppers) and then we walked through the little museum, whch was nice.

We love the pizza at Zion Pizza & Noodle so we drove a few miles into town to bring it back to enjoy on the balcony. It was delicious and nice watching the sunset from our private balcony. Turns out it wasn't so private, as a little kid from the next room poked his head around the divider on the side, peeking at us. He was actuallly kind of cute so we didn't think much of it.

After the pizza & sunset we drove back to town to poke around the shoppes and have ice cream.
We got back to the room after dark , turned on the lights and noticed this; the wooden blinds on the french doors did not fully cover the glass of the doors. Blinds should fully cover the glass, reaching the door frame, and actually go a bit over - for privacy and for room darkening.
We realized this at night with the lights on in the room, seeing the outside darkness on both sides of both of french doors where the blinds were not covering.

Maybe we wouldn't have noticed if we hadn't had the peeking kid? But we realized that if *we* could see the darkness outside from the blinds being too narrow, then the little kid (or others?) peeking around the balcony dividers would be able to see *us* in our room too. Nothing like this has ever happened because most hotels, even 5*, have room-darkening drapes covering the windows and / or patio doors.

Because it's annoying to be awakened too early by light filtering into a hotel room. And in the morning, since the wooden blinds were too narrow not fully covering the glass, the morning light broke through on both sides of both doors, awakening us before we needed to get up. No room darkening drapes or curtains, just wodden blinds that were too narrow.

We planned to tell the front desk about the blinds issue as we checked out, wondering if all rooms were like that. But when we got to the front desk, the woman (owner?) was otherwise engaged in conversation with someone -- a vendor or a delivery man. She saw us standing there but we had to wait a little, and when she did pause with the man (he waited for us to leave) she said very little to us while pulling up our receipt. She didn't even ask the most common question upon checkout, "How was your stay?" Since she didn't care about out stay, we left knowing we'd stay somewhere else the next time.

I am extremely sorry that your stay with us was disappointing. I appreciate all comments and reviews-it's how we improve ourselves. I have spoken with our Front Desk Staff regarding how you were treated at check-out. My apologies. There is never an excuse to overlook even one customer. As far as the issue with the blinds in your room-we will look into it. We weren't aware they were a problem. Thank you. Kimarie Dockstader-Asst.GM
