The manager at the lodge was extremely rude. We had to call to change our reservations, and the manager wouldn't do anything until I spelled my name 4 times and gave the credit card number and gave the 15 digit confirmation number. It was terrible. He wasn't paying attention to anything I said too. It was like my call was a bother. There are much better places to stay in Springdale! Places that care about their patrons.

By all means the "Terrace Brook Lodge" is a l-o-d-g-e. If you remember that, you will probably be just fine. I went with a group of 20 and some decided to camp out in tents at the Zion Center while others stayed at the Lodge. Those who chose to camp out in their tents kept saying how dumb it was not to stay at the lodge, so the lodge is worthy to some extent. It is very generic and a bit creepy, but welcomes the mountains right into your room. Do not be fooled like one of our friends did by the other lodges. On the way down towards Zion you pass many lodges that are exquisite looking, but the "Terrace Brook Lodge" is a whole different ball game. Our friend said, "This is not going to be your normal lodge, this one is going to be upscale, look at these things," he said that when seeing the other lodges, finding out 10 minutes later he was way off. I didn't sleep with the lights off and found 4 spiders, my girlfriend said the one "was a size of a starfish." Luckily, we got the kid that was sleeping to take care of those. We do not think that we had bed bugs like previous reviews were stating, but we took precaution by leaving the bathroom light on when we slept so the bed bugs would be afraid to come out and we also only slept under the one comforter sheet. We wished we brought our own blanket! The TV had an HBO movie channel so that was surprising. All in all, real close location to Zion, and Zion's free shuttle pulls up every 15 minutes from 7am-9pm a few hundred feet from Terrace Brook Lodge. We had to meet the rest of the group every morning at 8am, so the shuttle was perfect. That was a convenience, I'll give them that much. Be weary of the owner's pickpocketing child at check-in. He comes out and smiles but before you know he'll have his head in your bag reaching down your pockets for cash. Stay at the Zion's "Terrace Brook Lodge" if you plan on staying one night, maybe two, otherwise, pick another lodge/motel/hotel.

We used this place as our base camp for exploring Zion. We got the suite which had a room with king bed, and another room with two full beds. There was just one bathroom. We were able to sleep 6 and it was a bit tight and one bathroom was a big problem, but we were able to deal with it. The place has great views of the the surrounding mountains.

This place is an absolute disaster. Here are my gripes:

1. The staircase up to our room on the second floor was made of wood and so rickety, I noticed a portion was propped up with a piece of wood. It felt shaky and as if we might fall through the stairs at any moment.

2. The room was a nightmare. Someone had tried to paint the walls a month or so earlier. What a paint job! They painted over bathroom fixtures, light switches, and metal fixtures in the room. Worst of all they actually left gobs of paint on the rug! No one has ever bothered to pull up the carpet and change it.

3. There wasn't any hot water to shower at night.

4. The rooms are small and cramped.

5. The heater is so loud its hard to sleep at night.

Seriously, this place shouldn't be a hotel it ought to be condemned. Don't make the mistake of staying here.

    • Disliked — the fact that the room carpet was covered by paint from a bad recent paint job.

“Great Value”

Terrace Brook Lodge

I've stayed at this motel 5 times over last 12 years, and although basic it's always clean, and the staff always helpful. Our last couple of visits were with 4 of us, staying in 2 room, 3 bed 'suite' for 4 or 5 nights - which in 2005 was $79 a day - where else would you find that sort of value in Springfield? All restaurants, shops, and Zion shuttle within easy walking distance. We find the value and homeliness of Terrace Brook a pleasant change from the bland chain motels we normally end up in. Looking forward to staying there next summer.
