“WAY too long a wait after a long day hiking!”
2 of 5 stars Reviewed July 5, 2013

We stayed at the hotel for 2 nights in June, and I understand this is during high season but both nights there was an hour wait for dinner - and there were many open tables seen in the dining room while we all sat waiting in the lobby and porch, grumbling about our rumbling bellies. The first night, the host had even quoted us 15-20 minutes, so to wait an additional 40 minutes made this hiker chic super grumpy. Once we were seated, the poor wait staff seemed so frantic and frazzled, were rushing around and were visibly stressed which makes you wonder if they were short staffed during our stay. Our servers were all nice, though. Regardless, it was frustrating to wait so long for dinner after long days of hiking (especially when there are no other options around for dining!) At the very least, offering reservations would help solve that problem.

A little tip we discovered after our 2nd night though that I'll pass on to you (that they do not tell you about BTW - we learned from another guest) - you can order your dinner to go and then eat it on one of the lovely porch chairs outside of your room or on the lawn, a MUCH better option! Still a 30 minute wait, but better than a whole hour because we were able to take our pager from the host back to our room and wash up.

Overall the food quality is just ok especially for the price. Again, with no other dining options around, it's fine and filling and does the trick after a long day enjoying all that Yosemite has to offer but it's nothing to write home about.

“American Experience”
4 of 5 stars Reviewed July 2, 2013

This is not known for the most fabulous food but it's a must do to sit on the verandah and enjoy a pre dinner drink, listening to the guy tinkle on the piano, starring into the Yosemite early evening. The Wawona has not changed in architecture and that's the nice thing about it, you are sitting in the original building of the 1800's. A must do experience

“Best Food in Yosemite”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed July 1, 2013

Went here for lunch after visiting Mariposa Grove. Has the grilled veggie Panini. Onion soup was great and kids loved their meals. Fudge brownie sundae for dessert was the perfect ending!

“you will need to wait 20-30 minutes for a table”
3 of 5 stars Reviewed July 1, 2013

Once seated, waiting service is friendly and reasonably efficient. Menu a little restricted especially if you are staying for a few nights
