I didn't stay at the hotel, but I ate there twice during my stay - for breakfast one day and lunch another.
First let me say that the National Park Service allows its concessionaires to close their restuarants in September which is too early in my estimation formed by visiting the park the last two years during early October. If the NPS declares a given time period as off season, then they discourages the crowds that the concessionaires need. Luckily, the Wawona stays opens much later into the year possibly because of the elevation of their location.
Breakfast. All very good, fluffy pancakes, just the right firmness on the scrambled eggs, etc. very friendly and helpful waitress.
Lunch: slightly less helpful waitress and the wait staff responsible for filling tea glasses etc was unfriendly. Great food however, real charbroiled meat on my hamburger of such quality as could be eaten without bun as an entree itself. French fries were not soggy and the hot fudge sundae was exquisite. A super premium ice cream was used. My iced tea was good but they served it with a dried up lemon slice which did not tase very good. They brought new tea and freah sliced lemon.
