We took this trail as part of our hike from Glacier Point via The Panorama Trail back to Happy Isles (downhill). For the most part, the trail was moderately easy, until we came to The Mist Trail. In September there was very little to wet us just a light spray. We were quite pleased about the lack of water as going downhill, no matter how careful you are, could be really treacherous if very wet. As it was, the way down being steep and rocky was tough enough. Good hiking shoes are a must and do be careful, granite is not very forgiving if you fall!
We found plenty of people on the trail going down, but it seemed even more going up.
On The Panorama Trail, there is a point at which you have to make a decision, do I take the Mist Trail? or do I take the John Muir Trail? Both have the same end point eventually at Happy Isles. The Mist Trail commands respect and really is a must do, but admittedly, the second time I hiked from Glacier Point I took The John Muir Trail to preserve my knees!
