We have been to Yosemite many times but this was the first time camping in the valley floor. LOVED IT!! We booked on-line 5 months ahead of time on www.recreation.gov and got a great site along the river. Of course all the spots along the river are the most popular, but most all of them are fine. The negative we had was even though the sites say they will accommodate a certain size trailer, your truck may not be able to stay attached (which we like). Of course being in Yosemite, spots are close together to accommodate as many vacationers as possible, but at the same time trying to give you your individual camp site spaces. There are bathrooms that have flush toilets and the entire time we were there they were spotless! There are no showers here but you can use them at Housekeeping or Curry Village...we just rode our bikes over. The individual spots do not have a water spigot, but there is potable water around near the bathrooms OR you can fill up over at the dump station where they have the capacity to fill up your RV there. There are a couple of stores to purchase groceries, the one in Yosemite Village is actually stocked with most everything you would need, including fresh produce :o) Firewood is also available for purchasse or you can bring your own and use in each campspot assigned fire ring. Beer too. Again, no plug-ins but each site has a bearbox to store your food (unless in hardsided RV and you dont have to), picnic table, fire ring.
It seemed that all three of the camping grounds were very similar and not sure why you would pick one over the other. We had a blast riding our bicycles all over the place. There are bike trails, hiking trails giving you many hours and days of exploring. We were so pleased, and impressed that there was very little liter all around...so happy to see that! This time of year (mid April) was cool, we even had a couple of snow flurries for a few minutes, but sun shone alot too. Enjoy yourselves in the most beautiful county...YOSEMITE!! Hope this was helpful to you, if so, please comment as such! Have fun
