Okay so maybe we were spoilt because last year we stayed in the valley at Upper Pines but our biggest issue with Crane Flat was the gradient of our pitch - we had several attempts at parking our 30ft RV and in the end I slept in the bed the wrong way up just so my head wasn't hitting the headboard!! My advice would be do your research on the sites - we stupidly thought we would get one of the Pines again but unfortunately it didn't work out that way this year.
As another reviewer has stated the toilets were not as clean as in the valley and there was some confusion over where/if we could use the block to wash our dishes as we had in Upper Pines.
The positives are the proximity to Tuolumne Grove (walking distance) and we had a lovely talk on grizzly bears by Ranger Paul at the ampitheatre.
Would I go back? If push came to shove and it was the only campground available but I would put the valley campsites and Tuolumne Meadows above Crane 'Flat'
