“Plunged into darkness”
2 of 5 stars Reviewed yesterday NEW

It was disappointing that with only 2 nights on our roadtrip we had to encounter a forest fire which left us in complete darkness for the 2nd night & given the sun sets at 6pm you are in complete darkness, with only a small torch (and a lot of smoke)....if I had wanted basic amenities I would have elected to camp rather than stay in a lodge. I appreciate that these type of issues can arise, but surely there is contigency that extends beyond just having back up generators for the main facilities....also there was no real assurance of what was happening unless you contacted the main reception, shouldn't it be clear what the emergency procedures are? We ended up checking things on google to try and understand what was happening, and whether or not we were at risk.

Just stayed 2 nights at the Falls. Oops, no falls. First time there, but you can't work against Mother Nature. The rooms was very adequate for two people. Carpeting needs to be replaced. Loved the local bus shuttle that took you from area to different areas.loved sitting out looking at big slate area. Had birds land on sour porch, really cool. Saw a bear, and a few deer.

Room Tip: If you can hold off until mid week OCTOBER do it.

Power was out our entire visit. We were compensated with one small flashlight, and 30% discount but hardly worth staying there. We enjoyed our visit to California and Yosemite but while I found service people very friendly in the other places we visited that stopped at Yosemite. Was it because they were stressed with no electricity or because they are government employees? I don't know but I did not receive the level of service I expected. There should have been generators for the rooms. There was at the Awhanee. Also we should have been contacted and offered the opportunity to change our plans and visit another time. Once we got there we were stuck. Lines at the Food Court were ridiculous. Maybe they were short staffed because employees called out but it was disgraceful to wait 10 min for the person to pour the coffee and another 10 min to pay for it. Even the server at the Mountain Room was rude, telling me the salad I ordered was not a big enough portion for me. It cost $18 and was more than enough food for a 120 lb woman. I loved Yosemite but hated the lodge. Can't tell you how the room was since I could only see it by flashlight. The bed was comfy tho. Probably won't go back to Yosemite since I live on the east coast but I guess if you are only going to stay one or two nights you can put up with it. The choices there are limited.

Room Tip: We were right across from the lodge which was convenient due to the fact that they had power. Negat...

This was our first trip to visit Yosemite, and it exceeded expectations. No need to explain the park part of that. At check in on our first day, we found out there was no electricity in the rooms and the estimated time for having it as restored was pretty vague (came back on around 8 pm on the second day). It spite of the that, the staff was great, friendly and helpful (and they were living without power as well). The room was very clean, large, and comfortable, and with the beauty of the park, the power situation was only a minor inconvenience. We would definitely recommend the Lodge as the place to stay at Yosemite. Not as pricy as the Ahwahnee, but way better than camping (unless you're in to that; we're not).

Room Tip: We had a deluxe room, but I'm sure a standard room would be good if that was all that was availa...

You can't go wrong staying in Yosemite Valley. Of course you are a captive audience so be prepared to pay a high price for what otherwise would probably be a two star hotel.i usually camp in Yosemite but had a family member who would not be comfortable doing so. Also don't be fooled into eating at the Ahwanee. Go to the bar there for a drink and the ambiance but dinner is horribly overpriced for the quality of the food .. This was the first time we had eaten there and it really was very very overpriced for the experience.

Love the staff here-whatever you need, stay positive and helpful. Great rooms-quiet and peaceful and scenic. Good restaurants. Love coming to Yosemite. Yosemite Lodge helps make it that way. The staff makes you feel welcome.

Located a few hundred metres from Yosemite Falls (sadly dried up in August!) & the start of many hiking trails, shuttle buses & tour buses. The staff on reception were very helpful & efficient. We were shown where to park outside our cabin opposite the main Lodge & warned to remove all belongings, especially food & cosmetics, as the bears consider anything that smells of humankind as a source of food. There is a video showing just what a hungry bear can do to a vehicle! Rule 1 - Do not feed the wildlife. Rule 2 - absolutely do not feed the wildlife. As it happened we did not see any bears but plenty of mule deer, squirrels, blue jays & other birds. The Lodge has a huge Food Court offering Grills, pizza, pasta, salad buffet etc at reasonable prices. There is also a posh restaurant in the Lodge but we did not feel the need to use it. Breakfast of all kinds is available in the Food Court but we chose to take croissants, fruit, yogurt & pastries back to our room & sit on the terrace watching the wildlife. The rooms have tea & coffee making facilities & you can take in your own food & drink. The room was clean & comfortable with a huge bed & en suite facilities.Good value & in a special place for hikers, climbers or anybody who wants to see the wonders of nature at close quarters.

Room Tip: All the rooms look very similar.
