“Can't beat the location”
4 of 5 stars Reviewed yesterday NEW

It's hard to not like a place that gives you a treat as soon as you walk in. As we entered we could see a doe and fawn right outside on our patio. Later on a short hike we saw anotehr doe. This one walked slowly past our son just two feet away.

The room was a bit dated but clean. It was fairly large which hlped with four of us staying there. I don't think we ever got our thermostat to work so modulated the room temperature with the windows. Overall the room was a couple steps above our room at the Grand Canyon a couple of years ago.

The location is the strongets part of the Lodge. Being in Yosemtie Valley save a lot of travel time. The falls are right across the street for a fantastic view. Our view would have been better earlier in the summer when the water flow is heavier. The shuttle bus service makes it easy to get to and from the vistor center area. Curry Village, on the other hand, takes quite a bit of bus time. The valley floor tours start from right in front of the main building.

Parking can be a hassle in Yosemite. The last time my wife and I visited we were not staying in the parks and had to drive around for quite awhile looking for a spot. It looked like that type of problem when we were there this time. The good news is that the hotel lots are for lodge customers after 6:00 PM. Still we were abel to find a spot near our building before that time.

The one disappointing part of the lodge was the food court. The food was not that good was overpriced and took too long to get. My wife and daughter waited almost 25 minutes at the pasta station and they were third in line. They both said the ceasar salad was very good. Next time I would try the Mountain View Lounge for appetizers if we have the kids. If not, I would eat at the Mountain Room Restaurant. (Or more likely be at Awhannee.)

Oh, there is free wifi for guests. The signal was relatively week which was an issue with our son.

I expected a room that was a little more up-to-date and modern for the price. The room was very functional. Nice bathroom and the soap and shampoo dispensers were a nice feature. The carpet had several stains on it. I don't think there was any air conditioning in the room. We were fortunate that it wasn't a very hot day and the temperature cooled down nicely in the evening. By 10pm the park was quiet and we were able to get a good night's sleep on the comfortable beds. I thought the quality and appearance of the room did not quite match the price, but was overall satisfied with our stay.

Room Tip: We had a floor level room that we were satisfied with, but I think I would request a top floor room...

Across from the base of Yosemite Falls, you could not find a better location to stay in the park. It is central to everything in the Valley, rooms are clean, price is fair, access to a good restaurant, a cafeteria, a bar/lounge, and stores makes it a great place to start and end your days in the park. We have stayed there three times over the last decade, most recently in May, and the upgrade to the rooms from "basic 1960's motel motif" since were last there in 2007 is an improvement. And the view of Yosemite Falls is awesome. Look forward to returning.

We stayed at the Lodge for 4 nights. The location is awesome, so much to do ! We rented bikes for 2 of the days and the ride is very easy, no hills, well worth it, lots to see. The rooms are clean, there are no AC's which I've been told you usually don't need. It happened to be very hot during our visit, (July 2014) there are fans which helped. Great place to stay, we can't wait to go back.

Been to Yosemite 5 times and this was the first time we actually saw a Black Bear. Took the 6 PM Valley Floor Tour and there not far in from the roadway was a bear. It made my grandson and my day! Love nature and all that Yosemite has to offer. Sad to see how the severe drought the past 3 years has decimated a lot of the trees and waterfalls though, but nature will restore it again in time.

Room Tip: If the accommodations you booked aren't furnished, ask to speak with the Lodge Manager.

It was only for 1 night during our holiday trip in USA. Room was nice and clean. I didn´t remember about WIFI. Pool was fine, big and clean, but very soon closed. Dinner in the restaurant was very good, wine too.

The best lodge to stay in Yosemite. Quiet, clean, comfortable ... very comfortable rooms (too hot during day hours) with private terrace to enjoy the park at night. The restaurant is very good. Good food and good service. Self-service can be improved, both in variety and workers. I'll be back
