“Nice comfy stay”
4 of 5 stars Reviewed December 25, 2012

Room was fine- location was the biggest plus. Being in the park made it easier to explore and do our own thing.

Unfortunately the level of Hotel service was dependant on who was at the front desk. Some were great, others not so. That said we'd still come back & stay!

“Wonderful stay”
4 of 5 stars Reviewed December 22, 2012

Stayed there for two nights in early December. We asked for a renovated room and was given one. It is spacious and cosy. No problem with the parking as we stayed in the Dogwood building. Though it is a busy place, it has all the convenience like food, shuttle bus stop and within walking distance to the fall. At night, there are talks held at the lodge. Will definitely stay here again.

“Work Retreat in Beautiful Yosemite”
4 of 5 stars Reviewed December 21, 2012

The room we had was updated, clean, with comfortable beds and a nice bathroom with a great shower. We even got to see wild life just outside our door. The staff was friendly and very helpful. If you stay here, remember to look up. Be amazed by all the beauty that surrounds you.

“Winter stay in Yosemite”
4 of 5 stars Reviewed December 15, 2012

Our room was clean, modern and tastefully furnished with vey comfortable bed, mod cons including flat screen tv, nice bathroom/vanity area and good heating. Free shuttle bus runs from the lodge and it is short easy walk to Yosemite Village and oh so close to the Yosemite Falls. Location really can overcome lots of negatives but this place, in terms of accommodation didn't have any negs to overcome. There was a small mix up with our room allocation as a result of a computer outage earlier in the day and a manual check-in that wasn't recorded properly but it was fixed quickly and new room allocated in 5 mins. We were there in Winter so had no problems with queues. The food court was ok for a good feed after a day out hiking and doesn't pretend to be any more than that. Didn't try the restaurant as wanted to get out to the ice rink so no time for a lingering meal. We were expecting very basic accommodation given what we paid and how close it is to all of the sights. We were VERY pleasantly surprised.

Room Tip: Try for a room in Tamarak or Dogwood. They are away from the madding crowd and very quiet. Especial...

“Excellent value for money and location is unbeatable”
4 of 5 stars Reviewed December 13, 2012

We've just spent two nights at the Yosemite Lodge (at the Falls - don't confuse it with the Yosemite View Lodge like our travel agent did!). It was cheap, comfortable and the location was perfect. Yosemite Lodge is like a small village of about 15 lodges, each with say 12-16 rooms accessed directly from outside (ie. no internal corridors). The complex has a food court, a decent souvenir/snack shop, a lovely restaurant, a bar with a fireplace, nature shop, etc. There is also a very large swimming pool and ice cream stand that was all closed up for the winter.

Rooms on the top floor have a balcony, and rooms on the ground floor have a small patio. We went for the upstairs room, but be warned if you're carrying heavy luggage as you'll have to get it up the stairs! The room heating was adequate and another small heater was available if we'd needed more heat. The bathroom was serviceable. There are flow restrictors on the showerheads (understandable for a National Park) which made showering a little slower. The free wifi was excellent.

The food court is basic, but we were able to find something decent to eat for breakfasts and lunches. We had a nice dinner in the restaurant one night and on the other night we caught the free shuttle bus over to Ahwahnee and ate dinner there, which was also nice (and expensive).

This time of year the only tour running from the Lodge is the Valley Floor Tour, 2 hrs in a bus with many photo stops, that takes you past all the highlights. Even though it was a misty day which varied between snow and rain all morning, we still thoroughly enjoyed the trip. Our guide, an avid rockclimber, was fascinating.

Yosemite Lodge is about a 10 minute walk from Yosemite Falls and there is a nice loop that takes you past a lovely view of Half Dome. We were very happy to stay there. It was basic, but we certainly weren't roughing it.
