“Convenient to Discover Yellowstone”
3 of 5 stars Reviewed July 10, 2014

Check in service proved efficient and fast. Rooms are barely acceptable, no AC - on a 90 + degree day would be uncomfortable daytime, whereas by night significantly cooler the fans were satisfactory when the windows were opened. For guests on the parking lot side there was discomfort with the early risers and departures slamming car doors etc. Outwardly the two floor construction was fairly appealing, but noisy and poorly insulated. For what you get rooms are a bit pricey. Location to Old Faithful is convenient for an evening visit, as with day access to the many scenic places that make Yellowstone a 'must visit place', this our third visit over 42 years.

Rod Patteson

Room Tip: Request a room NOT facing the parking lot. With windows open the noise will test your temperament.

Green Features: Not particularly aware of such. Whilst no AC is an electricity economy, the hotel passages get little to no ventilation and by late afternoon uncomfortable. The native tree species apply mostly to off-side parking lot side, though not entirely.

Compared to other lodges on the Park, this place fell short big time. I guess that explains the lower price. The place is clean and functional but just very basic and older. I did like the fact that Lake Yellowstone was just behind and short walk away. But that may also contributed to a lot of mosquitos in the area. Booked for 2 nights but decided to leave a day early after seeing the room.

location is spectacular .. on south side of Yellowstone Lake (no views) but this place needs some updating... Staff was extremely nice and the restaurant had good food but it felt like wedding buffet food. The whole place had the feeling of Dirty Dancing meets rustic 70's. Without the great music. Restaurant on the lake could be a gold mine.. please lose the metal counters and put a real restaurant there. Deck with wine bar. Done!

Room Tip: not sure .. no real views from any room.

Being in Yellowstone was important to our extended family of 14, so this fit the bill. We had stayed in Cabins at Colter Bay in the Tetons, Old Faithful Frontier Cabins (with bathrooms), and here. This was between Colter Bay and Old Faithful. It was a sparse hotel room, very, very, small shower. I had to cut the shower off to shave my legs with shaving cream so that the shaving cream would not be washed off. Very small! However, we were in the park. You could hear noises between rooms, but if did not bother us too much. Location is the most important criteria for me on vacation and this was in the park.

An outdated facility. Too old to be modern and to young to be old as the other lodges are in the park. No A/C which is fine, but furnishing a fan with a short cord and a long distance to an outlet does not work really well. The coffee maker was not working and after the second day, we were shown how to use it after twice leaving messages. We were just not "rough enough" on it to make it work..............

One should not expect luxury in a national park lodge. This one is a little different, because it's actually newer and less rustic than most. There are six different motel-like buildings here. But the rooms are still very basic. You're staying here mostly for the location---right off Yellowstone Lake in the southern part of the park, but only 16 miles from Old Faithful. Our standard room with two doubles was clean and well maintained, and the beds were OK. This room was actually nicer than the one we had at Old Faithful Inn last night. But the bathroom was tiny. The restaurant was OK, about what we expected given that we've stayed in many NP lodges. However, it wasn't near as good as the Old Faithful Inn restaurant. It's about a 5 minute walk from the motel rooms to the restaurant, which does have nice views of the lake. Basically a three star motel, but worth staying here instead of outside the park.

Grant Village is very well located, in a very calm part of the park. It is much cheper than Lake Yellowstone and a great value. You won't have many amenities but it was very convenient. Easy to find food, gás and very quiet.

Room Tip: Ask for a first floor. No elevador.
