“Best burgers in Yellowstone!”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed September 16, 2012

We arrived shortly before lunch to view Old Faithful and then rushed over to Old Faithful’s Basin Store for lunch. We sat at the counter (the best place to sit) and enjoyed the old-timey atmosphere. The Workers have their home location listed on their name tags and liked to talk to the counter customers about where they are from. We heard some interesting stories while we awaited our food. I ordered a bacon burger basket and my son enjoyed a chicken finger meal with a malt shake. Our food was scrumptious (see my pics)! On the way out, we purchased a Yellowstone Chocolate Bar at the register and the kids enjoyed it on the Geyser Trail.
After lunch, we walked the 3 mile geyser trail and worked up an appetite for huckleberry ice cream in which we enjoyed on the second floor balcony at Old Faithful Inn where we were able to witness Old Faithful erupt a second time.
I heard some people in the forum complaining about the Basin burger basket prices which were like $8-10 a basket and this is nothing compared to the prices we paid at the Irma and Helen’s. The atmosphere and the food here is well worth the price. We had a FUN time and can’t wait to return! The other dinning areas at Old Faithful were crowded and this place is more quaint. We did not feel rushed to hurry our food here.

“An inexpensive alternative”
3 of 5 stars Reviewed September 8, 2012

Walk about 5-minutes downhill from the Old Faithful Inn, and you'll come to the Old Faithful Basin Store (althoug the ornate lettering on the storefront says "Hamilton's Store".

Inside it's another 't-shirt' city, but the other half is a soda fountain and grill, where they serve inexpensive and pretty good tasting food. My wife had a burger and I had a grilled chicken sandwich - total bill with tax was $22.00!

The best part about this place is the very friendly employees. Joe was our waiter - from NJ of all places, and Flo and Elias were two of the clerks that we really enjoyed talking with. It was a nice alternative.

“Very good chili in a simple setting”
3 of 5 stars Reviewed June 19, 2011

This place is part of the general store at Old Faithful. It serves fast simple food that is pretty good and reasonable. I had a bowl of chili and the server asked if I wanted cheese and onions on it. A nice satisfying light meal for about $5.
