“Beautiful lodge but noisy”
4 of 5 stars Reviewed August 16, 2013

We stayed here for one night as before we have stayed at Lake Yellowstone and wanted to be near Old Faithful. The lodge was lovely and our room was very good. Comfortable beds.
However the noise from rooms above and the corridor was very loud and disturbed our sleep quite a lot.
Breakfast in the snow lodge was pretty good, excellent choice.

Room Tip: Maybe on the top floor or take ear plugs

Stayed one night at the Snow Lodge. I booked late by calling Xanterra and asking about cancellations. We were only able to get a room with a king bed (we are a mother and child and prefer 2 doubles) but we coped. We found the property well situated as the walk to several food choices and to the Old Faithful area was quick. The common areas and the room were very nicely decorated. Room was very clean with comfortable bed, refrigerator, and coffee maker. As some reviews noted, the room was somewhat hot at night, even with the fan. Unfortunately for us, our room was over the loading dock so we had to hear garbage trucks and delivery trucks through the early morning hours, as well as staff walking to and from their housing which is located right behind the Snow Lodge.

We booked too late for the iconic Old Faithful Inn and ended up at the Snow Lodge. It was an ideal location. For some reason we could hear all the other room doors open and close. Apart from that, it was perfect and just such a treat to be in the park!! It was within walking distance to the Visitor Center and Old Faithful. The staff went out of their way to make our stay exceptional. Our time inside Yellowstone was amazing and we can't wait to go back!

Room Tip: Towards the back there are deliveries during the night.

We stayed in one of the cabins. It was decent enough. Beds, bathroom, A/C. Great location - walk to OF in about 5 minutes. The main lodge room looked really nice. We found a mouse in our room munching at some food we left in a bag on the floor, so be careful with your food. But it's a cabin, so not completely unexpected. Good enough if you want to stay in the park.

Another 2 night stay AND breakfast in the Snow Lodge. Cabins some way from the Inn but parking is alongside the cabins, which are well equipped and quite spacious, especially compared to those at Mammoth. Breakfast is another matter.....again service was a SERIOUS issue.....causing several complaints, speed and attitude being the culprits on both days. Food itself was good.
Does the 'service' stem from a lack of training or supervision?

My husband and I stayed at an Old Faithful Snow Lodge Western cabin for four nights. This can be confusing as there are a few hotel/lodges in the same area. Our cabin was located behind the Old Faithful Snow Lodge. The cabins are attached in a group of 4. So that means you share a wall with other guests. Be prepared to hear the showers and sinks from the other cabins. Luckily, most people were done showering by 10PM. The cabin was very basic. There are no TV's which was fine with us. Also, no room phone which could be a problem if you wanted to call the main office, but everyone has cell phones now. By the way, our cell phone had service most of the time in this area. The room did have a coffee maker which was nice. The bedding was clean and they provide plenty of towels, shampoo, conditioner, lotion and soap. The bathroom has a tub and toilet, the sink is separate. The room looked a bit tired and the wall to wall carpet needs cleaning. Dust could be seen on the furniture. But this is the busiest time of year and we could tell that the housekeeping staff was running ragged. Once we got settled in, we appreciated the cabin's location. It is away from the noise of the restaurants and gift shops. We could park right in front of the cabin with no problem. It is about 5-8 minutes walk to Old Faithful geyser. We spent most of everyday on the road seeing all the sights, so this cabin was our base. The biggest disappointment is the availability of decent food at a decent price. We ate at the following places- Obsidian Dining room in the Snow Lodge was good, but pricey for what you get. Next was the cafeteria which is in another lodge near Old Faithful geyser. This turned out to be a better meal than expected. We both had the bison meatloaf, mashed potatoes, mixed vegetables, gravy and roll. It was very tasty for about $30.00. I would eat here again and try the turkey dinner. Lastly, the Geyser Grill which is all fast food is just average. For dessert, try a huckleberry ice cream cone. One tip- carry a bottle of water wherever you go during the summer. It gets hot during the day and you'll be glad you have it. Overall, the Old Faithful Snow Lodge Western Cabins are in a good location and parking isn't a problem here. If you use this as a base, you should be fine. The point is to be in the national park. You will have to make reservations early (9 months to a year) if you want to stay in a western cabin. P.S. You check in at the Snow Lodge guest services desk. They are very friendly and happy to answer questions about the area.

We were very satisfied with our stay. The facility is clean and updated. The service and staff are excellent. There are several options for food. There is no ac and no tv, but that is the way it is throughout the park. It is also very neat to be able to view Old Faithful and other geysers at night and early in the morning. We also were able to see a lot of wildlife at these times.
