“An astounding lake, up so high....”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed October 31, 2011

No swimming at this time of year (or ever?), but gorgeous views, and fascinating bordering geothermal features.

“Breath taking Views of the Lake”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed October 31, 2011

If you have the means of renting a boat to go on the lake this would be your best bet at getting that perfect photo of the wildlife of the island! From the hawks to the Bald Eagles on the island your sure to get a great photo on the lake! Boat rentals were inexpensive and very fun. A definite must do on your vacation to the park!

“America the Beautiful in real life”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed October 28, 2011

As a whole, Yellowstone Park is the most unique vacation detination in the US. Where else can you see an array of wildlife, along with boiling mud and geo-thermic activity?

Yellowstone Lake is beautiful, with moutains along the backdrop of the lake. Walking paths cross over thermal springs and breaks that flow right into the lake. A variety of lodging is available, from rustic cabins to the majetic Victorian hotel that is very historic from early days of the park. The hotel has been completely renovated and provides a grand and modern lodging in a rustic atmosphere; I highly recommend a couple nights there. You are basically centrally located along the bottom rim of the park loop, which allows you to travel to any other destination within a day. It is also worth going down to Jackson Hole, WY as well.

“better and better each time we go!”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed October 27, 2011

Do you homework and plan. I always purchase a Frommer's or Foder's travel guide before I go anywhere. My husband and I had 3 major vacations this year (2011), Virgin Islands, Alaska and Yellowstone. I go online and check out the suggestions from Frommer's or Forder's then I start to figure out where to stay and what to do. Trip Advisor is your best friend, see what other folks are saying. Look at maps of the region where you want to go, they will show you surronding cities thta may make your change your mind about which airport to fly to. Remember you can always fly one way, you do not always have to book return flights. Flying to Yellowstone we have flown into Salt Lake City one year and the next time we flew into Billings Montana, we always rent a car for Yellowstone and we like the scenry so driving is not an issue, you can see and learn alot about a state when you are driving. Have fun!
