My flight was delayed so I checked in a bit late - around Midnight.
I was told I was given the last available room at the hotel and when I entered the room I could see why.

First - on my way to the room I found the hallway carpet to be worn and dirty - as if 1,000 tractors rolled over it fresh off the farm. As I walked along, dirty dishes were on trays throughout the hallway as if the hotel must not send somebody to reclaim room service trays or bother to pick up when needed.

Parts of my room looked as though they housed some sort of wild creature in it. The furniture was scratched and chipped in ways that were unexplainable. Something that stayed there must have had claws - and used them. Next was the wall. A stain so black and deep set that not even Ajax could get it out. The carpet was coming apart in sections and had stains that mirrored the wall.

I complained to the indifferent staff who were unable to switch my room and unwilling to pay for another hotel. Since it was late and I had no car to go elsewhere - I asked for and was granted a modest discount. But that didn't make up for the feeling of being "unclean" at this hotel.

I had attended two conventions at this hotel in the early 90s. Back then the hotel was okay. Having returned many years later, I see nothing had been done to update the hotel and little was done - if anything - to maintain it.

Upon checkout, I once again voiced my displeasure to a woman at the frontdesk who seemed as if she could care less.

Lastly, I travel often throughout the year - trust me when I tell you that I will never book any rooms at this hotel ever again.

I have stayed at the Sheraton Premiere several times over the past year. The only reason we keep coming back is because it is so close to my mother's house. The first time we stayed we had a wonderful time, maybe that is because we arrived so late and checked out so early. I have to admit the video check out is nice if all your charges are correct.

Since we enjoyed our inital stay and the proximity to my mom's house we decided to stay there again the beginning of May (2005). This time we would be bringing our 5 year old nephew and 8 year old niece. Again we would be checking in rather late due to a 5 hour road trip from our home. We were guaranteed a tower room. When we checked in were highly disappointed to find our room was on the lobby floor. We were already frustrated after spending 25 minutes looking for parking since the top deck and lower deck were all filled. We finally decided to make a space that we weren't sure if it was parking space into one. To make matters worse once we checked in they put us on the same floor as the prom niters. They had their doors opened, furniture in the hallways. Being loud and using profanity. My niece pointed this out. We got to our room to find that it was really small and had no place for a cot for my niece. (Since they only had a king, and we requested doubles, we were sending my nephew to my mother's house.) It was really loud and there was no way we could have slept even if there was room for a cot. We called the front desk to complain. They said that they had no rooms left due to Ballroom Dancing competition also happening on the same weekend and some type Aquatic Therapy training. So we left. Since they hadn't charged our card yet, even though we supposedly prepaid, we went to the Marriott down the road. By this time it was 11:30pm and we had just driven 5 hours. My niece was very disappointed. She thought it was the most beautiful hotel she had seen and was so excited to be staying there. We told her we would try to stay there the next night. Maybe it would be better.

We decided to stay their our last night to make it up to our niece and nephew. Before I was committed to this I spoke to the hotels manager and explained what happen the night before. They promised we would guaranteed a tower room (22nd floor). Wonderful we thought. The staff was accomodating. However, parking was horrible again due to all the events. After going to our room we noticed no cot. We requested twice before they brought it up. To calm our nerves we decided to take the kids for a dip in the pool. That is all we wanted to do. Once we got down there we learned that it was closed for the Aquatic Therapy training. We were not told of this when i called earlier or when we checked in. I had two crying children and pool to go to. We were told that the pool would be open for one hour between 9-10pm. Although this was past the kids bedtime we decided to make an exception. We were so tired of jumping hotels we decided to stick it out.

Then on our last visit, two weeks after the secong one, May 13, I spoke to the manager again who reassured us that we would not be stuck on the lobby floors and even said he had a room blocked for us. We were arriving late in the evening. I have to say he kept his word and had a beautiful view of Tysons on the 23rd floor. Our stay was enjoyable until we checked out. We were charged for a cot which we did not need this time. And a couple days later I found they charged me for a meal that we supposedly ordered after we checked out. And they charged it to a card I used to make my reservation but did not check out with. I had to argue with the business department to get this removed. After I was assured the charge would be credited back to me it wasn't. It took me an additional call to the supervisor and filing a claim with my credit card company. This will be my last visit to the Sheraton Premiere . From now I will just stay a little further from my mothers, but, hopefully have a nicer experience.

I echo the previous comments about the Sheraton Premiere; it should be called the "Sheraton Demise". I stayed there for one night (thank my lucky stars!) on 6/4/05. There is a pervading sense of doom and gloom from the staff to the neglected public areas and rooms. The parking garage felt like being in the New York subway: poorly lit and having water dripping from leaking pipes. The elevator to the lobby looked like a freight elevator. Service at check-in was cordial, but to the point, with a "get 'em in and get 'em out" attitude. I had to be convinced that the room was in a Sheraton Starwood Preferred Hotel as it was dingy with stained and worn carpeting, water stains and cracking drywall on the bathroom ceiling, three towels stacked on ther top of the toilet (if two people shower before going out for the evening, does one have to re-use their towel for their morning ablutions?) and no exhaust fan so you had to keep the door open while showering, shabby furniture with stains, and a strong odor of cigarette smoke despite the management stating that only one floor of the hotel is designated as "smoking". The bed was a "Sheraton sleeper" bed, but who cares in such dismal surroundings. We did not partake in any dining or room service options thinking that the kitchen probably was as unkempt as the hotel.

I'd avoid this hotel until it has had a major overhaul of not only the furnishings, but also the management.

I rarely take the time to write hotel reviews, and tend to do so only when something has been extraordinary. In the case of the Sheraton at Tyson's Corner, extraordinarily bad in all respects. The Sheraton line of hotels had previously distinguished itself as providing a decent, if not above average, business and leisure stay. If this hotel is representative of the Sheraton group as a whole, they have gone mightily downhill.

My room was in the tower, (the 16 story high-rise), and while I had requested a nonsmoking room, the room reeked of smoke. The smell of stale smoke, as well as fresh, permeated the hallway outside of my room. Carpets were dirty and stained both inside my room and in the hall. The coffee maker in my room was broken, as was the ice machine down the hall. While the new bedding is comfortable, my hopes for a peaceful night's sleep were abruptly halted when I realized that none of the guest room doors are fitted with a slow/soft shut mechanism--these doors are heavy wooden doors, and when they slam shut repetitively until 1 am, you can forget about being well-rested for that 7 am meeting. My room service menu was not up to date--neither with items offered, nor pricing. Several times after receiving my room service I had to call down to complain that my order was incomplete, milk had soured, etc.

What most took me aback was the lack of attentiveness to guest satisfaction. I have never experienced such a low threshold of "service." Several examples:

The demeanor of the front desk personnel suggests that the guest is a nuisance, as a line builds for check-in and other inquiries, the 4 employees behind the desk continue to chat amongst themselves, and fail to answer any inquiries you may have upon arrival.

They advertise a shuttle to local businesses within a 3 mile radius--true, but when you inquire about this service they tell you that it only runs until 9 am and refuse to shuttle you even 1.5 miles while the van sits unused for the next several hours in the drive.

After asking the concierge (who is rarely at his desk) to place my luggage away safely as I made my way through meetings elsewhere, I was refused. He replied that only when his luggage cart was full would he walk around the corner to place the bags he had collected in safe and locked storage. Ultimately, I had to depart for my meetings--leaving my luggage, along with about 10 other bags, out in the open lobby.

Finally, there is an outside car service that is allowed to operate from the lobby--beware, this "gentleman" will pounce the minute he sees you need a cab, offer his services as a taxi, and only upon further inquiry does the unsuspecting guest realize he offers a limo service for a heftily marked up price--2 to 3 times the cost of cab fare--taxi to Dulles: $25, his service, $45. While I am not opposed to a car service being offered per se, I am, however, opposed to a hotel that allows this man to peddle his services in such a pushy and misleading way.

Let me end by saying that while I understand that superior service can only be found in superior hotels, I am still sadly disappointed and dismayed that this Sheraton could not muster even a passable level of service.

I just completed a stay at the Sheraton over Memorial Day Weekend. The lobby area is fairly nice, but my room was in the tower building. If at all possible, have the front desk put you in the regular building. Note - I did not have a Priceline stay, in fact I booked through the Starwood hotels website. The tower building is a 3 story addition which is dingyo say the least. I walked into my room to find stains on the carpet, a wet washcloth on the carpet by the front door, water damage to the ceiling and worst of all, a used condom wrapper. Clearly, housekeeping is lacking here. The elevators were filthy, pizza boxes were strewn about in the lobby areas and one of the loading carts they use for luggage was in the stairwell for nearly half a day. rendering it impassable. Completely unacceptable for Sheraton standards. The bed was comfortable, but the climate control in the room didn't work very well. Simple calls to the front desk asking how much the breakfast buffet was and for directions to the metro were often routed to different reps, whereby I was on hold for nearly 10 minutes since everyone seemed clueless. The bathroom does not have a fan, and the toilet does not flush well. The underground parking lot is unkempt and very dark. The gym is complementary and there is an indoor and outdoor pool. No spray bottles of water were provided in the gym, so you could not wipe your sweat off the machine. No cups were provided by the water cooler for 3 of my 4 days so I brought an old snapple bottle. The hotel does not run a shuttle to the Metro during the week (but touts itself as a tourist/business center), so you will half to cough up $15 to the Dunn Loring Metro.
This property has clearly seen better days and even at $65-$75 a night is not worth it.
