I attended a regional conference at the Sheraton Premiere in January of 2008. Having read prior reviews of the hotel before traveling it appeared that business travelers gave the hotel fairly good reviews while people that had attended conferences in the hotel had entirely different opinions.
I learned first hand about being a conference attendee.
The room assigned to myself and my fellow roommate was in a side section of the building on the first floor. The first thing I noted was the odor of the hallway which was stale and unpleasant.......not noted on other floors. Fortunately the room did not have a bad odor. The room was directly beside hallway firedoors that banged loudly each time someone passed through and they closed. At this point I would have asked for another room but my room mate had already checked in and unpacked.
The mattresses in this room were not the nice new soft mattresses mentioned in some of the other reviews. I found myself changing position many times during the night because of aching shoulders and hips.
The hotel was to provide us with three meals - dinner the first day, breakfast and lunch the second. Dinner was good. The steak was tender and well cooked, although the mashed potatoes had quite a few potatoe pieces not fully cooked nor mashed. It was the breakfast and lunch that failed miserably.
Breakfast was to be Continental and available between 7:30 and 8:30 am. We arrived in the lobby at 8:00 am to find a long line of people waiting for "breakfast". The line was not moving. The reason was that at all four of the stations that were set up - they had run out of food. We waited 15 minutes for the line to start moving only to arrive at the "breakfast table" to find our only choices were orange juice, two types of muffins, and apples.
Cranberry juice bottles were empty and never refilled; no danish or toast or english muffins (I believe even Days Inn offers more choices). When I went to another area to get tea there was no hot water and all of the regular tea boxes were empty - you could only get herbal tea and I'm not sure what you were supposed to use for water. When "breakfast time" ended at 8:30 am the situation was still the same.
Lunch - First there was a salad and then for an entree we were served an iceberg lettuce salad with pieces of grilled chicken. No dressing was ever provided. We had water and ice tea and no refills were ever received for anything. What more can I say?
At break times for our conference the hotel did not provide any set up for coffee, tea, sodas, or water. If you wanted something to drink you could go to the gift shop for an overpriced bottle of water or a Coke. There was a carton of Diet Coke laying on the floor in the gift shop but it was not cold and there were no glasses or ice available. Two of the people at our lunch table were vegetarian and the hotel had been advized prior to our arrival that vegetarian meals would be required. They asked our wait person 3 times for their vegetarian meals and they never appeared. Finally they grabbed the arm of another passing waiter and he saw that they finally received their food - An iceberg lettuce salad with the grilled chicken removed - no dressing!

If you are looking for a place to hold a conference in the Vienna area - this is not the place.

I had a last minute business trip that required me to stay here I read the reviews in the airport while waiting for my flight and I have to say I was skeptical. After arriving at the hotel I was greeted by a wonderful staff that realized I was tired from traveling and upgraded my room to a tower floor 8th to be exact. I found the room very nicely laid out had all the comforts I needed for the stay. Only one major complaint was room service, I ordered a cheeseburger form the menu at 18 dollars and 2 cans of soda and the bill somehow came to $32 delivery charge? Etc etc after a tip my cheeseburger which was very good came to $37 which is a bit exorbitant I would not recommended the room service at all unless you just have no other option much like myself at 10:45 at night. The other fees that were charged for were wireless internet; one 800 number phone call cost $2.00 Aside from these in my mind small issues I had a good short stay! The front desk in the morning was super helpful apparently they charge to print in the business center so when needing to print a boarding pass for my flight the front desk help named Monica did so on her desk computer which I found extremely courteous! Overall a clean room helpful staff but you will pay for any extras!

I was at the Sheraton for three days last week. I was a chaperone with a school group, and I'm not real sure if we were given the same service that every other customer receives. First of all, it seemed as if we were kept far away from the lobby area and tower in a small block of rooms in a seperate building. I can understand wanting to keep a group of kids away from everyone else, but what I can't understand is why the rooms didn't seem very clean.

Within 5 minutes of arriving at the Sheraton, I had a large wad of someone else's hair stuck to my socks that had been on the carpet. There was a big mark above the bed which looked as if something had been splattered against the wall and not cleaned up. The bathroom was old and in need of some remodeling, and the countertop didn't look very clean either.

I will say that the rooms were spacious and the beds were comfortable. When I ventured into the lobby area and the pool, they seemed very inviting and clean. The area around the hotel looked as if it had a lot of options for shopping and dining so that was a plus too.

I recently stayed here to attend a week long conference for work. My introduction to the hotel was the desk clerk informing me that they only had smoking rooms available to offer me despite that the fact that I had reserved a nonsmoking room a month prior. After insisting that this was not acceptable, the clerk allegedly spoke to the manager and was able to "find" a nonsmoking room for me. The woman checking in next to me was told the same thing as well as others in my group, some of whom ended up staying in smoking rooms. My room was much larger than I expected and clean, except for the rug which was visibly stained in many places. The room, despite being on a non smoking floor (as indicated by signs posted) reeked of stale cigarette smoke as if it had been a smoking room days prior. During my week long stay, I came to believe that the smell filtered in through the air conditioning system perhaps from other smoking rooms? My room was on the first floor and very convenient to the conference rooms, restaurants, lobby, etc. It had a stunning view of the hotel loading dock but since I only slept in the room, I wasn't bothered by the view. What did bother me was the amount of noise that comes in from the room door. You can hear everything going on in the hallways. The air conditioning unit ran constantly but barely cooled the room and it was quite noisy. Housekeeping was inconsistent with dirty glasses sometimes being left in the room and toiletries not always restocked. The bed was extremely comfortable and the room had a nice desk and plently of storage space. Their hotel website states that there are refrigerators in the rooms but mine had none.

Since I was attending a conference at this hotel, the location was perfect for me. However, it is located in a very busy commercial area, behind several car dealerships, and I would not choose it for pleasure. The front desk staff were not particularly helpful or friendly but the restaurant staff were very attentive and very friendly. The restaurant, however, is way overpriced and the quality of food is mediocre at best. There is a deli and several small ethnic restaurants less than a block away and the hotel does offer free shuttle service to the malls where there are many good restaurant choices. I suggest eating anywhere but at the hotel.

  • Liked — The beds were comfortable.
  • Disliked — Smell of stale cigarette smoke in room; restaurant prices and quality of food; front desk staff.

I was here on business and it met my needs. The rooms were spacious and comfortable. The lobby was very inviting and the staff was pleasant. My only concern is that after a long flight they were not able to accommodate an early check in but you can not always blame a hotel for this. The work out room had everything I needed and the pool was adequate. I saw a few families there but I really don't recommend it for them as there is nothing to do in and around the hotel other then the swimming pool. It's geared (and priced) more toward the business client.
