“Cozy neighborhood coffee bar”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed December 2, 2012

This is a wonderful recent addition to Vienna. A neighborhood coffee bar to the right of Church Street Pizza in Vienna, this is the anti-Starbucks. Great record albums from 60's-90's on the wall, games to play, hot beverages and pastries. All yummy and reasonably priced.

“Beats Starbucks1”
4 of 5 stars Reviewed November 17, 2012

A nice, pleasant atmosphere awaits in this tucked-out-of-the-way location on Church Street in Vienna. The coffee is better than Starbucks, and even the hot apple cider is too. A nice array of pastries is offerred but I haven't tried them yet.

“Best Espresso in the Area”
4 of 5 stars Reviewed November 13, 2012

If you are in Vienna, the best espresso in the area is likely to be in this place. If you cannot find their address at 107, you are looking on northwest Church Street, not northeast, just two blocks away. They have complimentary espresso tasting on Fridays and were serving an air-dried Ethiopean. The owner, Michael Amouri, roasts his own and is knowledgeable about coffee, but allows his baristas to put the complimentary espresso in paper cups. The shot I had from their Victoria Arduino (never saw another) had good crema and a fruity nose with a taste that was fruity, then chocolaty but then tasted of the paper cup. Michael pulled a second shot in ceramic for me which was a little sharper. Their croissants were good: crispy, darker than you find them most places in America, the way they should be, flaky, sweet and buttery. They serve soup; the squash soup was good, and they serve sandwiches. The walls are covered with vintage and not-so-vintage rock and roll album covers and I hear that occasionally they play them. The ambiance of the café was relaxing both times that I went there; I do not remember if any music was playing. If there was, it was not R&R.

“Excellent fresh roasted coffee, real espresso machine and baristas that know their trade. Plus a hang out / reading friendly env”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed October 27, 2012 via mobile

Just discovered this place and am sitting here now. So happy to finally have found a great espresso place outside the city - and right down the road to boot!

I got a ristretto espresso shot and it was great - dark and deep and sweet with exceptionally little bitterness. Sat and read a book at one of their 15 spacious tables. Lots of room and not too crowded at 7:30pm on a Saturday. A bit later I got their Belgian hot chocolate which is real Belgian dark chocolate discs melted in steamed milk - rich and velvety.

Got to chat with Mr Amouri and his passion for coffee and his caffe was very obvious. Looking forward to making this a new chill out spot on lazy days. If you love good coffee, tea and atmosphere you need to check this place out.

“Best coffee in town (and elsewhere)”
4 of 5 stars Reviewed October 11, 2012

Started by a former producer at the Discovery Channel, the owner really has a passion for coffee. He apparetly studied the various types of beans for a number of years, and he sources his beans and roasts them himself on the premises. Just the aroma of the beans when he is roasting them makes you wnat a good uup of coffee, and his is great. If you want to take a break from Starbucks (and who doesn't) give Caffe Amouri a try.
