“A gem in Vienna”
4 of 5 stars Reviewed July 29, 2013

Just moved to Vienna last year and absolutely adore the Meadowlark gardens. It is a wonderful oasis in the middle of town. Every time I go I see something new. My two boys always have a lot of fun there too and they are 10 and 14

“Glorious plant collections”
4 of 5 stars Reviewed July 29, 2013

I do a lot of walking for fitness, and usually like to keep up the pace for aerobic activity, but now and then a walk through Meadowlark Gardens can really recharge the routine. The terrain is varied, with several hills, and the garden features beg to be slowed down for or stopped at for more attention. The collections there provide a changing sample of interest throughout the seasons, too, so one can go many times per year and it will be different each visit. the fees are a bit expensive, but an annual membership pays for itself after a couple of visits, I think.

“Never gets old!”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed July 18, 2013 via mobile

I cant even count the amount of times I have been here. It never gets old. Its a great place to take pictures at ( you occasionaly run into a wedding party). If you can come in the winter when they put all the lights up, it gets very creative.

“Once was Good”
1 of 5 stars Reviewed June 30, 2013

Twenty years ago, this park was a gem. The original concept was good, but management decisions have ruined it. It is now highly commercial, as other reviewers have noted.

The problem isn't so much that entrance used to be free and is now $20 for a family of four, but rather that the rules of the park exclude certain users.

Their fashion police check two things upon entry: Is your dress too nice, or your photograoher's camera too fancy looking? If you are wearing a white dress that could be culturally connected to a wedding, you will either be ejected outright or asked to pay $200 / hr, if there is a not a single other similar park user present.

The attempt to penalize users for dressing nicely and involving themselves in marriage is not the end of it. Any one who looks to be taking the study and/or practice of photography seriously will also be ejected.

This trend, to penalize aspirations and success, is not limited to this park. However, this park does embody it. Clearly, having seen the park decline, I no longer visit.

The decision to invest $11M in the Atrium was the worst thing that could have happened to this peice of donated land. It would have been better to just let the land return to the wild, and more consistent with the wishes of the dear daparted who donated it, who are turning over in their graves.
