We booked a room at the Cincinnatian for the sole reason that they offer rooms with hot tubs. My partner and I wanted to take the oportunity of our visit to Cincinnati to spend one relaxing night and reconnect with our old days of "hot tubbing" together. This request was made very clear at the time of our (phone) reservation. When we arrived that night (midnight or so) we were sent to our "deluxe queen size" room. Right away we went to check the bathroom which to our (horrified) surprise was equipped with a half length, single width "whirlpool" type tub... not so conducive to cuddling with your 6 foot 4 partner!! We called front desk who after trying to up-charge us to move us to our initially requested room finally did move us at no extra charge. We were happy to see that the new room had a hot tub in lines with our request to only find out an hour later that the tub didn't have cold water... we tried (unsuccessfully) to fill the tub with cold water from the sink (and even ice from the ice machine) to make up for the scolding hold water... and gave up after about one hour of trying... In addition we noticed that little bugs came out of the air blowing inserts as we activated them... all in all, not at all what we bargained for!!!
Upon checking out we discussed the issue at the front desk whose first answer was "if there is hot water, there should be cold water!"... Should I even explain how ridiculous this statement is...? We had to go with their "engineering crew" to the room to show them that their cold handle was broken and therefore could not deliver cold water to the tub... ('cause obvisouly we were trying to scam them in their eyes!!). The hotel said that they would discount $100 off of our bill which was an attempt on their part at making it better for us... It almost succeeded until we got home and I checked my credit card statement only to see that it had been charged not the discounted and agreed amount... not even the initial reservation amount, but instead a full $100 more than the initial reservation price... YES! A total of $380 for a room that basically didn't offer us any of what we had reserved it for. I called the hotel to ask about this charge and insure that the amount would be corrected to reflect our agreed pricing and was given some additional BS about how hotels operate to charge rooms and so on...
All in all, be sure that if you do decide to stay at the Cincinnatian you know what you are reserving and make sure that they tell you EXACTLY what you can expect on arrival because every chance they have to blame you for their shorfalls, they will take with no shame. All of this is very disappointing when you are an honest person, hence expect people you encounter in life to behave similarly.
