“Desperate for TLC”
3 of 5 stars Reviewed June 21, 2012

Stayed in the north tower while my wife was grading AP tests, so this hotel wasn't our choice. Had it been I never would have shelled out $99/night.

It's not awful, but it's an old, tired property. From the elevators that hesitate before moving, to the peeling wallpaper and the threadbare carpet. Room was kind of small, but it is a big city hotel. Old-fashioned TV with a few channels, most of which had snow. But plenty of hot water and pressure. Comfy bed. Room kept clean. Staff does its best playing the hand it's dealt.

Location is what it's about here. Across from convention center, two blocks to Carew Tower and Fountain Square. I skipped the high priced parking and used a city-owned garage on 9th between Vine and Race -- $6 all day M-F, $2 S-S.

The right thing to do would be to close this hotel for a year, gut it from top to bottom, and bring it into the modern age.

For the past 4 years I have been housed at the Millennium Hotel for the Advanced Placement® Reading. The best thing about the property is that I have easy access to the Duke Energy Center where the work takes place and right in the middle of downtown Cincinnati. The staff also does its best to be accommodating. This year they even hosted an AP® Readers wine, beer and nibbles evening, something that I do not recall they doing before. The pool is not too bad, it is outdoors and provides a nice place to soak up some sun after a hard day of work, but do not expect to be able to do laps. The gym area is very small and when the hotel is full trying to use it is next to impossible. The hotel seems to need a bit of updating. Some of the common areas are a bit tread-worn. The TV channel offerings are limited. The South Tower where I stayed needs to have its windows replaced. Even up at the 10th floor street noise forced me to insert earplugs to be able to sleep. Maybe the North Tower is quieter. When I made the reservations back in February I had requested a room that I previously stayed in but upon arrival I was told the hotel was full because of Detroit Tigers fans, so I ended up on the 11th floor. I did notice some interesting things. Monday June 18th was our last day of work and the usual USA delivery by the elevators did not take place. Also, on this last day the room attendants did their daily maintenance but did not leave any soap, luckily they left the body wash and shampoo behind so I had something to clean up with.

This place has a good location and nice facade. Inside, it's more like an Econo-Lodge with an attitude.

Stayed in this Hotel for a Reds game recently and was very disappointed. Three stars at BEST and NOT the 3 1/2 stars Priceline.com says it is. The whole place needs completely refurbished....looks like nothing has been touched for 15 years. Additionally, the check in line at 2 in the afternoon was the longest I have ever seen; obviously these people don't know how to deal with a major sporting event.

This by no means was a horrible hotel, but its represented as a mid to upper class 3 1/2 Star hotel; that it is not. A lot of the staff were very helpful, but many of them also seemed better suited for work at the DMV (just kind of standing around with a blank look on their face expecting a pay check just for existing). All the carpeting looked very dirty (including the 1970's looking microfiber chairs, all dirty). The televisions looked to be as old as the chairs, pretty sad when Motel 6 does a better job at keeping up with technology!
Again, not a horrible place to stay if you get it cheap enough, but please don't pay more than you would pay for a semi nice 2 Star chain hotel in the burbs.
The pool was nice and kept up fairly well and they did have a bar/grill at the pool that I guess is only open on the weekends (wasn’t open during the week?)

Room Tip: Ask to look at the room before you agree to stay.

This is a nice average hotel. The reviews paint it as being so much worse, so I was worried about staying here. The bed is nice and clean plus comfy. TV works and was okay. Everything was clean in the room and bathroom. Workout room was fine and the employees were helpful and friendly. I stayed in the south tower.

I agree with some of the travellers here, it's not the best for a three and a half star hotel. The carpet in the lobby was dirty, the waste bin in the bathroom had rust rings under it. Yeah, coming to look at it, if I go looking for all the bad things I will ...so here are few pros.
1. Location
2. Asked for a good view and got it.
3. Parking for 8$ at 6th and Elm (thanks to one of the reviewers here)
4. Walked to "Taste of Cincinnati" (had crab rangoon, chicken tawook wrap...was good)
5. Enjoyed Graeter's ice cream
