“Very disappointing”
2 of 5 stars Reviewed November 6, 2012

Went to this hotel for a wedding. They had a price block for two nights of the weekend but not for Friday night. The hotel would not honor the price set up on Friday night. We had to use valet parking (my husband is on a knee scooter and can't walk far) which was $26 a night and the taxes added up a lot. The room was just fair and the extras like the toilet paper and kleenex were below fair. The maid never replaced the things like shampoos and lotions and one day did not replace the towels. We had to call for bath mats and hand towels. Not a great experience. I thought Hyatt was a good brand!

Thank you for taking time to leave a review of our hotel. I apologize for the unsatisfactory housekeeping service regarding the replenishment of your amenities. Thank you for bringing it to my attention, as it is something that we can address immediately. I invite you to contact me directly to further discuss aspects of your stay. We try to accommodate each of our guests beyond their expectations, and I do hope to have that opportunity with you. Again, thank you for the constructive criticism.

“Should have been better”
3 of 5 stars Reviewed November 5, 2012

The hotel is in a great location and is close to 75 and 71. The entrance and foyer were Hyatt like, but that it where it ends. The rooms had mildewy showers, old style tvs and "dead waking" heating systems that woke me every time they cycled on. The Broncos were staying there and were entertaining. Champs was very slow. Unless you get a great price, I can't recommend it.

Room Tip: The river side is good.

“Don't let the negative reviews scare you”
4 of 5 stars Reviewed November 3, 2012

This is a perfectly fine hotel. Sure, it could use some updating, but the rooms are clean and spacious, and the views are fantastic. People need to stop nitpicking about tube TVs and whatnot. It is in a great location downtown, close to shopping and good restaurants. Everyone was so friendly!

Room Tip: Choose upper floor, river view

“Not up to the Hyatt Standard”
2 of 5 stars Reviewed October 29, 2012

This is based on my experience as Hyatt Diamond member and who spent the last month in Hyatt Properties...Park Hyatt DC, Grand Hyatt NYC, Hyatt at The Bellevue, Hyatt Regency Indianapolis and finally Hyatt Regency Cincinnati.

Check In

I checked in on a Sunday at 8pm, with nothing going on in Cincinnati that evening. I asked if there were any Diamond upgrades available for the one night. The lady who checked me in looked and found one, she proceeded to ask another lady, who I assumed was her supervisor. She told me that they do have suites available but at a $59 premium. I then proceeded to ask her if there were any other rooms available, she said yes, but it would require an "up charge".

I can understand if the hotel was sold out or if the rooms were spoken for, but when the hotel is pretty much dead, I don't see the point of charging a Diamond member (or any member for an upgrade) for an upgrade. It even stated on the Gold Passport Website for Diamond Members "Enjoy the best room available upon arrival, excluding suites".

Like I said, I just came from the Hyatt Regency Indianapolis for one of the largest farming conventions and I was upgrade to the Executive Suite, even when the hotel was sold out for the week. Heck, I was even pre-blocked by Director of Rooms for a room larger than I have booked.

At the Hyatt Bellevue, they offered me their Bellevue Suite as an upgrade, with NO up charge.

Grand Hyatt NYC, was offered a suite when I checked in with NO up charge....

Park Hyatt Washington D.C., same deal, I got upgraded to a suite with NO up charge.....

I don't understand the logic in not upgrading a Diamond member to larger room on a dead Sunday.....

So, if you're looking Gold Passport member, Good luck......

Rooms (#2232)

This hotel is definitely in the need of a renovation. It still has a 20" boob tube, I didn't even those things still exists! My bathroom was small, with a toilet that refuse to stop running. A desk phone that doesn't work and here's the kicker....the friggin HVAC doesn't even blow warm or hot.

I have seen Holiday Inn Express better than this, heck even Days Inn look a lot better. The furniture was straight from the old school Days Inn catalog....

Honestly, my toes are freezing as I'm typing this.....

Yes, I could have complained, but after settling in, I just didn't want to deal with moving. I'll just check out to another hotel.

Breakfast

It was the Findlay restaurant, and the food was mediocre at best. The buffet wasn't available, but a al carte was. I guessing this was due to the lack of occupancy in the hotel.

Overall, the hotel needs renovation, but more importantly, the front end needs a lot work.

If you're desperate for Hyatt Points or can't find any other accommodations in Cincinnati, stay here. Otherwise, I would avoid at all cost. Especially at their pricing points. I'm moving to the Hyatt Place for the rest of the week!

Room Tip: Good Luck in getting an upgrade

“Showing signs of age”
3 of 5 stars Reviewed October 28, 2012

The only positives I can mention about they Hyatt are the staff, location and valet parking. The rest is only average or poor. For $193 a night i had high expecations. The hotel is in great need of repair and/or updating and has really shown signs of age. The restaurants were less than appealing and we never went to any of them. The fitness room was cramped and not very welcoming. The pool area was clean but also not well heated. Unless a complete renovation is done, we would not go back. There are a ton of great restaurants within walking distancy (Nada, Shanghai Mama's) so be sure to check those out.

Room Tip: Either the river or downtown views.
